I had a character I never got to play that was a cannibal gnoll ranger with ranks in Craft (Taxidermy), and some feat I forget the name of that gave huge bonuses to intimidate for wearing parts of enemies as you would with magic items. I should really play her sometime but I keep ending up in groups with paladins in them.
So I ran three sessions of Pathfinder, for the first time, with almost all-new players.
First two sessions were the beginner box premade dungeon. Character creation took a while, but the dungeon was fairly easy - they almost killed the dragon at the end, although half of them were knocked unconscious at one point or another. I managed to insta-kill two players with one acid breath attack.
Still, fun had all around. I did get a few laughs at the one veteran player, whose instincts seem to still be set on "AD&D". That magic fountain towards the beginning? First he dipped a finger in it. Then tasted it. Then poured some into a bottle. Then tried to bathe in it. Earlier he tried to crowbar open a door that he had already determined was unlocked.
After that, I did a brief city session, mostly to let people buy things and to give them some quest hooks. I did have one interesting event - they spotted a thief nicking a bag of money from a cart, and gave chase. This was actually part of me hinting at the overarching plot:
I've decided that the dragon they fought was actually a were-dragon (not sure if it's "human who can transform into dragon" or "dragon who can transform into human" yet), by the name of Vorncarch ("Black Fang" in Tolkien's Elvish - which would be a good hint if I wasn't the only one who knew that). The four pre-made characters (I've heard them referred to as "iconics") I'm repurposing as a recurring set of villains as well. Apparently play a big role in the official modules, but I'm rolling my own story and mainly re-using them so I don't have to make characters from scratch and can use the special pawns. They were introduced today, but most haven't yet turned evil. The cleric, however, is - she's actually a demon of some sort disguised as a human, and who would expect a cleric to be a demon? She's sent the party on a quest to go fetch an amulet of Lamashtu, ostensibly so she can have it destroyed (but actually for her own purposes). The thief from earlier is also one of the premade characters, although modified and now a lot more criminal.
Somehow I'm going to bring all the now-evil iconics together, then put them under Vorncarch in what is angling to be a fairly long-lasting story. I may even let some of them escape death and re-appear in the next big story - it would be interesting, I think, to have evil rivals that keep lasting longer than the villains they serve.
Overall, I think the city-as-dungeon wasn't a good idea. It worked, but took far longer than I expected, and it didn't have as much of a reward.
Although seeing the human fighter confront the thief with "STOP RIGHT THERE, CRIMINAL SCUM! YOU HAVE VIOLATED THE LAW!" was hilarious.
Anyways, now I have to plan out a demon-themed dungeon crawl, using whatever monsters are in the beginner box, and suitable for a group of five first-levels. Looks like ghouls, hell hounds, serpentfolk, skeletons and werewolves.
Fucking Werewolves, Rats.
that fucking encounter
"oh ok 2 wolves, not too bad at all"
"wait guys what's that other creature on the initiative bar?"
I zoom in a little
i say "it's a fucking werewolf oh my god"
cut to half an hour of us beating on this fucking thing before rats finally reduces it to AC 18 and DR5
on the plus side, it made me realize that by drinking mutagen as a Grippli Alchemist, you become a Battletoad
I didn't realize it would be that much of a problem when I made it, I'm sorry. :(

I'm still sad we didn't get to appreciate my wonderful stairs and the whole of the dungeon I made before we had to stop.

I thought I automatically reduced it's AC by killing the other wolves?
Oh hell if I know how it works, he probably chalked it up to being that
either way

This is the reason I am going to try and extensively screen people for That Guy syndrome
Eva's fucked up if you play it regularly, I don't know how the hell it'd go with That Guy

I think playing AdEva makes you into That Guy

Playing AdEva is quite fun. You just need damn good players.

Having a amazingly fuckgood plot helps too.

Yeah, the plot's going to be the hard part. Fortunately the GM supplement has a lot to work with.

You gotta make the first move, if someone here talks about playing a game and you're interested, just ask if you could join. Same goes for groups with smaller numbers of people (3-4). As long as you aren't "that guy", that is.
Nobody wants a -that guy-
here's me thinking we were gonna get away with playing a campaign without one, too.
Alright, for the game I'm going to DM for the likely time is going to be 10 AM Sunday EST, and we'll see how long the session goes before people have to leave. If the length of the session suffers I'll try moving the time down earlier. I'm hoping people who weren't available for that time but were available for the block after it would find that acceptable. These are the people who have noted they could fit in that time slot and hopefully will go on to be in the game. If your name is on the list and you have an issue just PM me or add me on Steam and bring it up.

Just gonna advertise that I'm going to run an Eclipse Phase session starting the week of April 21st, if you want more information go to: http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1250739&p=40171269&viewfull=1#post40171269
My character was executed in Vampire and it was sad and all the characters got sad and I feel bad for making them sad because it was my own stupid fault my character was executed.
Inspired by some of the stories I'd seen on /tg/ I tried running a few basic, free pen-and-paper RPGs for a couple of my friends last Summer, and decided that when we next got together (these past few weeks) I'd get some Dungeons and Dragons books if they were up for giving it a go, which they were.
I've been reading and watching videos about the hobby for the past year or so, and looking over the various D&D Editions, decided to go with AD&D Second Edition, so I got hold of the core rulebooks and some of the supplements for a fair price.
Although taking them through character creation took longer than I anticipated, they quickly got into it and we've played three 4-5 hour sessions over the last four days or so. Outside of some issues like the Lawful Good Cleric proposing that they murder an unconscious guard to prevent their discovery should he wake up, and a little time wasted by myself flipping through the book to find things like the unarmed combat rules which I hadn't made myself entirely familiar with, things have gone really well.
We're all heading back to our different universities now, but we're going to carry the game on over Skype/Roll20.net, which actually should give me the advantage of quick access to internet resources. Overall, really enjoying it so far.

Basically whatever fits the best schedule with the most amount of people. They're'll probably be 4 players and myself or five players and myself to fit among that group.
