Also, does anyone else realize that they don't write enough female NPC's? I was looking back on it and I realized that literally all of my major NPC's in any game I've ever gm'ed was a dude, and I was only made aware of this after a woman at one of my games told me about it.

And it really opened my eyes. I don't think I've ever made a single important npc in my homebrew games female, and reign of winter is like 70% female.

Perhaps this is a representation of my inner psyche of secretly wishing to become a dwarf and frolic in the mines, or an elf and frolic in the trees.

The pathfinder campaign I am currently DM'ing was once DM'd by another guy who was running an Adventure Path because he was new to DM'ing. The AP had the majority of the NPCs and enemies being female, and after a handful of sessions we all realized that the only people the group had killed were all women, and they had by chance disarmed or arrested the male enemies. It became an inside joke, and everyone often jokes with targeting the female enemies first.

In Exalted, so far, though, the NPCs I've made up on the spot/ahead of time tend to be about even. Like the group of 6 cultists, 3 of whom were men and the other 3 of whom were women. Or the Chumyo of Lookshy being a water-aspected DB woman, and then the party later met a fire-aspect DB man who couldn't even take a single punch before crying for help.
I was concerned about that but then I realised my NPCs are pretty much 50/50
Ok guys, idea time. Come up with a city and list its: name, size (population), government type, location, and a unique feature of that city (could include location.) City meaning anything from a hamlet to one level below a metropolis. Specifically for a D&D/Pathfinder setting.

Now home to the finest of arts, architectural marvels, artist academies and other cultural institutions, partially due to the prosperity the mines bring, and partially because a particularly vain dragon considers the entire city his hoard, and demands to be immortalized by artists of various kinds. Also a fan of fine arts and aesthetics in general. In turn, he generously funds any artists he finds worthy of patronage, and jealously guards the town and its treasures against any would-be attackers seeking to capture its riches, as well as keeping his precious hoard (e.g the town and all its treasures and art) under tight security, but available for the world to see and document and sing praises of. He loves showing off, y'see
this is currently our roll20 board for naruto surprisingly clean, actually.
I wish I'd screencapped the Exalted roll20 when Hats decided to draw the party and then turn the Imperial Mountain in to a volcano, which led to us drawing something coming to destroy the Blessed Isle from every terrestrial direction.
surprisingly clean, actually.
Not anymore.
Not anymore.
getting better
getting better
I'll try to keep it as classy as I've been doing.
In my Shadowrun game on Roll20 one of the players draws dicks in the fog of war that only I can see and I never delete them.

I just made this relationship web for the NPC Dark Eldar in my Only War game. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/pXYaQ7L.png[/img_thumb] Basically, Dark Eldar society is a soap opera.

I ditched all women from my little campagin when I faced this issue.
Since I can't voice act a Female NPC I don't write them as much. The other problem with female NPCs is that people hit on them and I don't like being hit on by my friends.

A young scholar might have once read it's story in the books, only to forget it as a useless piece of information. Even though the story is really one for the books. The place itself was mediocore. No resources, no extensive farms, no strategically good position. Throught the efforts of the local royal family it was, though, a Polis, as in remained free from reign of the three huge empires bordering it. The empires tend to go to war onto eachother and that's exactly what happened. Three forces went to march towards eachother. The town was under crossfire with every army trying to repellish their supplies by robbing the town dry. The town got nicknamed The Crossing. It was right between the anvil and the hammer. The former king of The Crossing was a dumb fella. He was in panick and terror. His wife though was a genius strategist and manipulator. She used the king as her pawn in a never ending diplomatic struggle to keep the town not only alive, but also under protection from foes. Throught blackmails, promises, sexual intercourses with rising enemy generals, gifts and bribes, she achieved her role. Armies marched right into hell, forts rose built by slaves and fell taken down by siege machines, generals gained worldwide fame and then lost it, disappearing forever, but The Corssing was always firm like an oak, but flexible like a vine, always dodging the dangers gracefully. There was one thing the Queen didn't predict though. As empires fought more and more fortuneseekers would become mercenaries to assist a side. Epidemics would desert armies in mere months. Food supplies ran dry so soldiers had to eat their own leather boots to survive, no joke. With every day more and more soldiers left their armies to seek refugee. They usually ended up in The Crossing. By the town war was over and all three empires fell and cracked into many feudal kingdoms The Crossing was full of veterans who knew nothing but war. It didn't take long for them to become criminals. Later, due to being on the edge of the world, the town got also nicknamed Outskirt. Soon it's two names formed the current name: The OutCross. The Queen and King and dead, the royal family is no longer in charge. The town has a little more then five thousand people. It's very poor as the majority of population consists of aging veterans. Gangs roam around the areas surrounding The OutCross. Rumors are that many generals, top-tier warriors, courtriers, kings and nobles fled here as their empires collapsed. They might be among the common rude folk of the anarchystic dying town. Waiting for a way to regain their power and wealth.
I don't like being hit on by my friends.
So in my Tuesday L5R game, my character is married to the GM's girlfriend's character. It's, uhh, awkward.
So in my Tuesday L5R game, my character is married to the GM's girlfriend's character. It's, uhh, awkward.
oh wow how have you not been smitten yet.
One of my half orc players is currently trying to woo a female kobold they had just freed from slavery of a wizard. It even resulted in a (in character and mutually agreed upon out of character) duel with the sorcerer when the she made a snide and mean remark about. Sorcerer died.
So in my Tuesday L5R game, my character is married to the GM's girlfriend's character. It's, uhh, awkward.
Yeah but if it's a political marriage you meet, like, once a month to copulate passionlessly then be on your separate way.
So the Numenera bestiary is out. I thought that the core book had it weird with blind t-rex monsters that see by accessing the datasphere (the Internet a billion years from now) or biomechanical extradimensional creatures that use sex to birth horrible eldritch abominations, but this fucking bestiary. Those lamprey fuzz balls. Eugh. [sp]Flail Snail still best monster all years.[/sp]
Yeah but if it's a political marriage you meet, like, once a month to copulate passionlessly then be on your separate way.
The True Love disadvantage goes a long way in making things maximum awkward. I joined the game after the first session, and nobody told me anything about their characters when I made mine. Turns out her character had Fascination: Singing and all this stuff about loving music, etc. So when we introduced my character, who is a singer, things just sort of escalated from there.
So the most dangerous encounter of our Exalted game was against a freaking bell It rang, and the party was instantly fucked up Inches away from fucking killing me I might add
So I recently checked out Rolld20, thought it could be useful. One problem, the map/board I want to use would be a pirate ship, and it's not that hard to find a picture of a pirate ship. But, finding a top down view picture of any sort of 1800's boat is impossible. The only decent one I ever found was a sample picture from a board buying site. I got it to work, but it looks hideous, though it's the best I got. Anyone know of, or have any decent top down views of a pirate ship?
