Seriously, why the fuck can't my players actually play the damn game? Session yesterday? Canceled because one player had to go do tax stuff. Rescheduled to today - also bailed. Week before, both remaining players had to skip (the third has had to take an extended leave - I've written him out of the story in such a way as to be able to easily bring him back once he can play again). And someone had to bail the week before that. And the week before that. It's supposed to be a weekly game - every Thursday, after work. I haven't run a session in three weeks because of the constant bailing. We all work in the same damn room - should be easy. And the two remaining players now live together and carpool to work, so there should be even less of an excuse. Normally it's at least a good excuse, but today it was literally "I don't feel like playing Pathfinder". I've gotten a "solemn vow" that we'll finally get to it on Monday, but I have my doubts.
Its VERY hard to do a weekly game. Some people just don't have the fortitude. Some weeks I don't really have the energy, but I know if I push through and start playing I'll have fun so I do. I've only had to cancel two sessions so far in my currently weekly game and one was for Christmas and the other some family was in town. I would suggest just ALWAYS, run it once a week. If only one player shows up, still run it. I've had one player that's missed all but 3 sessions, one missed 4, one's missed six, and one's missed 2. If we cancelled everytime one or two players couldn't make it we wouldn't play. The other thing I've done is recruit more players. I now have about 8 people willing to play, and if I get notice of dropouts ahead of time I call in backups. Only one of my players has managed to make it every time. Either get new players, do it less frequently, or be okay with not having everyone every session.

I've frequently run games with one player missing (I actually don't think I've ever run a session with all five players), but it's rather hard to run a game with just the GM, no players. Of the three other players, but one had to withdraw completely for a few months due to family issues, and the other two have such a variable schedule that from the get-go they played characters who would show up when they were able to but not be too involved in the actual story. On the bright side, I just made a breakthrough in the no20 system design - I think it will really work, once I redo the garment system and flesh out the classes and spell library more.
Uh hi sorry about that I know literally nothing about M&M so i'm trying to figure out how to work the sheet kthnxbby
I don't blame you. for the last one i tried (also elowin) my rap guys rap powers were the easy part. I had the most difficult time trying to wrap my head around the minute differences i would have to apply to an attack power to make it a sword, instead of just having katana karate chops and i felt so stupid once i figured it out.
Week after week passes and still I cannot get the damn Pathfinder fame running. Was supposed to start today, but nope. One player was all "lol sorry I am in elder scrolls online beta," another said "well i am very busy this weekend," (her excuse for the past 3 weeks) and the other in the Facebook group just never looks at any of the posts. one player, my best friend, was ready to play this weekend and actually talked to me about his character, asked questions about the setting, etc. The rest just didn't care, and only started thinking about their character when I begin hounding them. So yeah. Another bloody game I try to run just won't happen. I am fucking cursed
Most games never run because of shit like that.
On the other hand, I went to Templecon here in Rhode Island and, along with playing Pathfinder Society with some of my friends, finally got to play Eclipse Phase for the first (and likely only) time! The GM ran the Continuity adventure, which is basically the EP equivalent of Tomb of Horrors. I was a Jovian Spy who I depicted as being an ex-Japanese salaryman. My job on the station was "intern". So when it was found out I could use a knife very well, very good at sneaking, and had things interns shouldn't have (liquid thermite, invisibility cloak, etc.) the other players began to suspect something since my character made it very clear he was from the Jovian Republic but defected (a lie). None of us really cared, however, since the station was going to shit. So ultimately the commander decided to blow the station up after the exsurgent virus was just up and down infecting everything and everyone (except for me and the girl, who was new to Eclipse Phase, who managed to escape with me to the shuttle). Our scientist did manage to concoct a cure, something the GM never saw in any other groups before, and right before he died he made sure the cure was spread all throughout the infected ship. Unfortunately, while me and the Swede got into the shuttle, the monster version of Tanaka (my character) attacked me. I looked at the sole survivor, said to her "I will see you again, hopefully", and activated my emergency radio farcaster, where my body exploded (along with evil me) and e-mailed my mind back to Jovian space. All in all, a victory, all things considered. I survived, the newbie survived, and the scientist wiped out the virus with his own virus. The commander, however, was infected, and when he transmitted his mind off the station he was beamed back to Firewall...
Most games never run because of shit like that.
Game 1 was Eclipse Phase with mostly Facepunchers and a good friend of mine. Did manage to play for a few sessions, but had to cancel because school was eating up more of my time than I thought. Game 2 was going to be Pathfinder, but cancelled because several of the players ended up hating each other. Game 3, current one, also Pathfinder. Borderline cancelled due to lack of interest and just not giving a flying fuck about anything from 99% of the players.
I am deathly curious as to how this progressed.

Tomorrow's L5R should have some combat, thank god. I need to shoot arrows more. Did I mention what happened last week?
<3
My love for you is like a Tarrasque Colossal and with low-light vision
So has anyone here actually seen a tarrasque? As in, in any game that wasn't a non-serious/gimmicky/used as a GM fiat game. I planned to use the tarrasque as an early plot thing while the characters were a measly level 8 (which they weren't meant to fight of course).

My players don't know that though. [editline]8th February 2014[/editline] I think I'm going to give it wings, for that extra bit of terror on my players faces.

Imagine playing D&D with Judy Dench.
Imagine playing D&D.
Yeah, I imagine that to be a lot fun. Meanie. I wouldn't mind trying it but I figure it might be worth trying to get my around character sheets first. Wasn't expecting those things to be 4 pages.

Players know that nothing short of fucking divine intervention can kill it. The best players can do is put it to sleep for another cycle or hide it on another plane. Even that requires near-epic levels to accomplish.
So the ogryn of our group just gained human levels of intelligence by devouring squig blood. I'm proud.

They make some of the best players I've seen :v:
