Try "roll20" thing, it's a free application for the browser that acts like the map, figures and chat for D&D. There's also a forum with "looking for group" section, you might find a group there.
By the way, I've been trying to find a group myself for the past 3 months and no luck. I can't find anything at all - so does anyone know if there is a group or some GM willing to start one?

So recently I've noticed that there's a lot of interest for a pen and paper group between my peers, though almost nobody's done anything like it before. Any tips on what to start on? Something easy to set up and play and that wouldn't take up a lot of time would be preferable

Anyone played Cyberpunk 2020 before? Going to host Cyberpunk 2020, Fallout PnP, and maybe World of Darkness campaigns online over the summer with some friends.
As a sidenote, one of my friends wants to make her cyberpunk character a nymphomaniac :v:.
I've thought about making my own 2020 game, but it's turning out I'm far too lazy to plan this shit, but the setting's awesome so I'd be interested, I've played WoD and Fallout before though, wouldn't mind playing those.
Oh, even though it's going to be online I think we might keep it private for now. Maybe in the future we'll open to public, but for now we can't really.
Besides I'm probably going to DM and I only have a bit of experience.
I've be steadily growing interest in DnD lately and in fact, I'm planning to buy some rulebook/handbooks soon. However Call of Cthulhu sounds really cool too and so does Cyberpunk 2020.
But I live in the land of down under Oz (aus) and I barely know anyone who even play tabletop RPGs. The only chances I got are to go out and somehow find people who are interested (but I'm a bit too busy to search for kindred spirits right now) or find some online alternative however timezones can be a pain in the butt (also for some reason I think that newbies are less welcome online than in real life; could be completely wrong though).

I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon.
Yeah sorry, for the time being it's closed out. I want to keep it between online/offline friends, plus one of my friends is very picky about who plays so if I invite acquaintances than the whole thing might blow up.
Maybe in the future, but not yet.
