Or he'd provide them with the credsticks to go and buy a SIN then?
you also need them to cross borders without getting your entire party into shit
That time we were going to the coastline was so suspiciously successful that there's no way there was no outside intervention.
Corps wouldn't give runners the time of day, maybe a middleman who's already involved in organised crime would do that for some guys he might want to keep working for him and not someone else.
Well the guy giving them jobs/paying them wants stuff done in the dark, mainly to further their corps profits and power. Stuff you can't have leaking into the public, so who else to do it than runners
Question.
I've always wanted to get into Pen and Paper RPG's, but never really took the time to delve in, with the exception of trying out Vampire: The Masquerade back in highschool. (Wow, that was a long time ago...) Anyway, I've always been super interested in the Shadowrun universe, and I'm thinking about finally trying it out.
With that said, I've looked into the newest edition, and some reviews, and the consensus seems to be that if you're a newb to tabletop RPG's, then Shadowrun is probably not for you due to the extremely lengthy rulebook.
So, any suggestions on where I could start? I prefer the cyberpunk/science fiction mix rather than old school D&D settings, so something along those lines would be preferable.
Thanks for any help/suggestions!
(Also, I heard about roll20.net, is that somewhere y'all would say I could go if I'm a newb to tabletops to possibly find a group to play with?)
Dungeon Worlds is very easy to get into.
Other than that try a D&D game, I started playing it with never reading the rulebooks, you just grasp it as you go along.

In my experience, Cyberpunk 2020 is actually a very simple system once you understand the basics, so maybe you could try there.

In regards to getting started, would you say just to get the Cyberpunk 2020 rulebook (2nd ed) or should I get the newest, 3rd edition, Cyberpunk V.3?

Yeah, Roll20 is pretty newbie friendly.
Roll20 is pretty great, since it basically does all the functions of a real tabletop (save ability to knock minis over with wild dice throws)
and it's really nice when you're playing something like, say, Exalted and start throwing a few hundred dice all over the place without losing track of them
plus it's free so how can you complain

Cyberpunk 2020 is a pretty shit system tho
Shadowrun is where it's at, yo
Shadowrun is where it's at, yo
yeah shadowrun is rad
but it really does take a while to get into, there's a lot of mechanics.
not counting one or two sessions of pathfinder that never went anywhere, l5r has been my first real experience with a system properly and it's pretty simple to grip
speaking of which, if my current tsuruchi archer dies (unlikely) should I;
a) reroll a bastard scorpion samurai and be sneaky as fuck
or
b) be jetstream sam
2.
b) be jetstream sam
uhh is there even a point in asking this question????
So I got a few people together to play fiasco one time, and it went super well, so we played it again a couple of nights later, split into two parties, my party, and the another girl joined up, so there was her party.
Our game was over in about two hours, and we went over there to see how they were doing, we wanted to play another game with some of the people from her party, and figured we could sit in on their game until they finished.
In two hours they were still in the first act.
Alright, whatever, they were just playing long scenes, we played another board game which took another two hours, and went to check up on them.
Still in the first act.
I asked them why they were taking so long and she said that they always took this long. I asked how she was playing it.
There was no set scene limit for an act, the relationships changed over time, they introduced new characters into the scene, and they only used the dice to set up the relationships. I told her that they should try playing it according to the rules because they might have more fun and be quicker, and she got pissed at me for trying to control their game. I left, and they ended up playing the game for eight fucking hours.

While I do love my Scorpion Clan, if you can be Jetstream Sam then why are you asking this?
Then you flash around your red sword and ask everyone to show you a good time.
and call them 'pretty boy'

The system literally uses dolls for their character art. Like Barbie dolls and GI Joes.
They aren't funny or expressive, like Marwencol, either, they're just shitty dolls.

The one our group used was the 2nd ed with a few splatbooks, so I don't know anything about the 3rd ed.

Better under the bus than out of a helicopter.
My character's fiance almost trapezed two thousand years into the future because he read my notes wrong
One day shy of 365 days since their last major update -- d20Pro finally announced the future and teased their Fog of War update.

The very two things I required to go back to d20Pro (House Rule support and Dynamic Lighting) are actually coming. Color me excited.
They already have that I'm pretty sure.
Well, I have used it multiple times.

d20pro isn't roll20
oh yeah im dumb
its because it looks identical to roll20 lmao
So my cousin wants to play D&D and has agreed to do a solo session with me. I've never DM'd before, but I don't think I would have too much trouble with it. I want to create my own little campaign for her but I'm not sure how to go about it. She's already created a character (Eladrin Ranger).
I was thinking about making a short campaign about an NPC that hires said character as a mercenary. The NPC has been cursed and therefore can not speak, so she hires the mercenary to aid her in a short quest to break the curse and what not. The NPC would probably be a paladin, something to help the player along the way.
Anyway, what are some good tips for creating a campaign around one or two players?
Go easy on the combat, smaller groups makes individual rolls more important, so it's easier to get raped by bad luck.
