I'm not averse to complicated shit, either, but what I've heard about MTAw's magic is that even after several books to try and simplify it, it's still confusing.
From what I've heard VtM is more "superheroes with fangs", while VtR is more "welp, you're a vampire. good luck kid."
Masquerade isn't "superheroes with fangs" if played as written, it's a more goth-punk version of Requiem.
Besides, Changeling: the Lost is best nWoD game.
Looking to join any kind of slow paced or play by post game. Scheduling issues make it hard to have regular play schedules, so that's all I can really do. I can GM too if nothing's going on already, and I'll run just about any system. Hit me up.
So, i had my first DND session last night as the DM. Everyone was actually pleased with my work while i was just thinking "oh this is gonna go bad i can just see it". but they enjoyed the maps i created and the work i did so it's all great to me! as long as my buds are happy :p
haha holy shit they fucking TRASHED you on SA

"im just the GM" Is literally the worst excuse in the world, if someone was acting like a fucking creep or just generally being a prick in my game I'd sit him down and go "you either shape up or you're out"

The problem was, everyone was acting like a murderhobo. The one person that was acting kinda sane was the follower of nurgle, who had only given the sheep some virus (not actually aids, I embellished a little there), before all of those events took place.
I feel like it's worse than it seems, they just said what they wanted to do and I sat there laughing my ass off and saying "yup, whatever".
I would never GM a game where I describe... those events.

But as long as it wasn't actually aids, a four year old being forced in to having sex with a sheep is A-Okay.

The rational thing, of course, is to punish them for doing that, although granted that might be hard with a group so out there to begin with
because seriously that's pretty messed up. And even if the group is murder hobos, then your job is to find them something productive to murder their hobo at. Preferably violently and without warning before it gets into the weird zone
I don't want to tell you how to run your games of course but "I just run the magical realm, I didn't create it" really isn't a defense

I think what it was is they were sort of testing the limits, they had just come from deathwatch and only war where they were roleplaying as good imperial citizens.
So now they had all this freedom and they were like "can I do thiiiiiis" and were surprised when I said "sure" (being followed by a disapproving look).
I'm not trying to defend myself here, I'n trying to explain the situation, hell I don't even think my players were in the wrong here, it was a mob mentality thing happening, where they escalated and escalated to the point where all this shit became acceptable.
It's sort of interesting psychologically, because at the time we were laughing about it, but in retrospect it became "What the fucking fuck just happened"...
I many of those cases you could have followed that "sure" with a "but your respective god might not approve." EG the Khornate setting people on fire instead of cutting them in to bits and letting the blood flow.

Trust me, I did, but I don't think that's what people are getting mad about. (I don't think people would be less pissed at me if the khornate guy cut up everyone with his sword)
Up to that point they had killed a nice old farmer, pillaged a town full of old people, and threw the captain of the ferry overboard, so I was trying to quell them.
I mostly put the mother and her children in so they would stop being murderhobos but it... did not work out that way.
Also, these guys are my real life friends, that I've known for a long time, I'm not gonna make them feel like bad people, because they're typically really cool people, they don't even play tabletop RPGs that often.
I just have to not put any more weak people into the game. I.E. NO MORE MOTHERS AND CHILDREN.

I may be getting into a game of Vampire the Masquerade, does anyone know much about it?
have fun dealing with the WOD system

The next "helpless" looking group of people should be a test by the dark gods to see if they are worthy of serving them. Perhaps a mysterious house in the middle of nowhere with EXACTLY similar circumstances to the last situation you described. If they just leave the boring old woman and kids alone then they have learned the error of their ways. If they repeat their mistake - have the group of "helpless corpses" reveal themselves in an alarming manner as heralds of chaos sent to test their mettle and that they failed to please the dark gods. The heralds warp the party to "more... deserving circumstances" in which THEY are the helpless ones (ie: infested space hulk, the heart of a space marine fortress, the frontlines of a battalion of Imperial Guardsmen, etc) and if they survive in a gore-filled/plague-ridden/malicious/sexy manner then they are forgiven for their pettiness.

people were mad cause that's creepy as fuck.
You as a GM have the ability to stop things you don't want in your game, and you showed you were cool with having a child forced into sex with a sheep in your game. You got banned for being a creep, that's what the ban reason said

You fool! Why do you think BC's base campaign setting is the Screaming Vortex, home to Chaos-tainted worlds inhabited solely by barbarians, murderhobos and assholes?
Putting BC characters in a "civilian" setting without an ever-present Imperial presence that they need to hide constantly from is just asking for murderhoboing.

Until they've gotten used to being "evil" and calmed down, that is.

I know what people are getting mad about, you don't have to tell me twice! Boy-on-sheep sex is what they're getting mad about.
Of course I could've stopped it, but I didn't on purpose, they were testing what they could do and now they know. At the same time, I was testing what they would do, and now I know.

Multiply your character's estimated "angst" by 20 to fine the true "agnst" value

Rear why do you have to live across the Atlantic pond
I want to join/run a pn Eclipse Phase game so badly but no one at my college or local game stores have any interest in it. Even when I tell them they can be a neo-Neanderthal hacker.
come over here in Rhode Island and join me in my obsession with EP
Funk you got banned from SA for GMing a dodgy game?
Talk about ripples in a pond wow, what's next
So yeah I'm playing vtm
help me think of the edgiest character ever

It was funny when it happened, I had just come back from the game so I figured I could tell the most shocking part of the story.
It was me telling the punchline to a dead baby joke without giving you any warning. Sorry.
TL;DR for anyone out there who wants to comment:
The first session was me testing the waters with my players, and my players testing the waters with me.
What they got out of it was they really can do whatever strikes their minds.
What I got out of it was that I need to give them other murderhobos to hobomurder. Not women and children.
Lol, goons.
So my d&d character's husband kind of sold his soul back in his rebellious teenage years, which is a bit of a problem obviously. My current stopgap plan is to just use temporal stasis when he's about to die, but I just realized I would pretty much literally be pulling a Mr. Freeze.

Who the fuck is Dr. Freeze?
Who the fuck is Dr. Freeze?
Technically Mr. Freeze is a doctor, so he's technically correct.
Technically Mr. Freeze is a doctor, so he's technically correct.
Well his real name is Dr. Fries, Mr Freeze is his supervillian persona and doesn't bare the same titles as his real self.
