Could also use FATE, which is also pretty simple.
FATE is a good system for storytelling, but the rules are really dull, there's no satisfaction in any die rolls.
I don't think anybody was singing Exalted's praises, I just said it might work for what he was going for.
2nd Edition is a massive pile of shit from 20 different freelance writers who all had their own ideas about where they wanted the setting to go and didn't bother to consult a lot of the other books when writing their own bits.
Well it's more than that, the rules are really clunky.
To those in dwarfy's game: sorry I thought I'd rename the shared folder as a joke, and it decided to sync the folder and all the files as entirely new files.
It's no big deal (you fucking moron)

insert system to reward players for fluffing their attacks
insert system to completely and utterly invalidate any attack without fail
????
try to remember what the word 'fun' is
print books without having found answer to #4

What you fail to understand is that forcing someone to perfect defend is actually a successful attack; You're forcing them to deplete their motes, which is essentially health in Exalted.
That said, I love love love love love Exalted... And its system is terrible. I play Exalted because I love the world and the lore.

Even if depleting motes is a success, it's not exactly fun
that's like saying "Oh, yea their energy shields completely blocked your yamato cannon without a scatch, but hey at least now their power core is slightly overtaxed!"
although nominally a success it instead feels like you got cheated when the result of a real success would have been them getting pasted/reduced to component molecules/blotted from existence etc

and that is the worst fucking thing
combat between exalts is literally a war of essence attrition, it is stupid and boring and i cant believe the designers thought it was a good idea at all

How is it in any way different than if 'motes' had been named 'health' and all Exalts payed if life force to activate their abilities?
Both health levels and motes are arbitrary game terms.
*edit*
Also, Exalts are supposed to be nigh-unkillable; You aren't really supposed to fight other exalted except when absolutely necessary. Most of your combat is supposed to be against highly powerful but defensively weak (comparatively) creatures, like behemoths and demons and such.
Savage Worlds is x100 better than exalted though.
Plus character creation is really freeing, it's like GURPS if everything wasn't complicated as fuck.

Yeah, the combat system should be like the one in Mutants and Masterminds, that's a great cinematic combat system.

Ooh me, I have the entire summer off because of the end of my college shits.
Scrub weenies need not apply
Ah dang...
I've only had one combat in mutants and masterminds and it went like this
1 attempt to turn air into a metal spike and throw it
2 can only make small metal ball, miss throw
3 get punched
4 punch guy back
5 get punched
6 punch guy back
luckily someone helped me
That's why I didn't say what it was when I recruited, I love homestuck, hate the fans. This way, there's no fanboys/girls in the party, instead, 6 adventures thrust into a strange new world to explore, just figure I'd give them a one day heads up, in case it bothered them THAT much to make them quit.
i used to read homestuck for fun but i think the whole following is p. dumb
as long as its not stupid bullshit im ok with that

I should do this to my party.
Well, if I had known what the fuck the game was about I could have made a thematically complimentary character. However I don't care for a Hamstack game so I'm sticking to my decision.
I'm currently not on a super strict schedule and every other sunday sounds like a good fit so i'd probably be up for it if you still want somebody.

Someone should really GM. We're all thirsty for a GM.

An oltomato was given which I declined.
An oltomato was given which I declined.
Yes, and thus it was effectively your decision.
GM's make their players follow their rules, not following the rules is not playing the game.
Someone should really GM. We're all thirsty for a GM.
I think it goes without saying that, apart from people not wanting to join because of system or schedule differences, anyone whom offers to dm a game will get swarmed.
Yes, and thus it was effectively your decision.

Yup it was my decision, which is what I said.
please god no make it stop
they literally have a character advancement system called 'edges'
A lot of rpgs have that
Hunter: the Reckoning has it, whatever the old WoD Hunter game is called.

Saaaavaaaage Woooorlds has it.
So, personal results from Dwarfy's surprise Homestuck game include me barricading myself in my bathroom while a TV/Raven hybrid destroys my house.
