So i'm curious, I see everyone playing all these systems and whatnot from warhammer and space adventures that i don't even know. are the dnd editions, yknow 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 just out of date to you guys? boring? or you think its awesome to be space pirates?

Well DnD is done quite alot and it's usually peoples' first game they play.
Like me, I played DnD for 3 campaigns and I've got a bit bored of the system so I've moved onto World of Darkness and Shadowrun.
I still love DnD though, I wouldn't say they're outdated but after a while you want to try something new.

I'd like to direct you to every one of our games that involved an elevator. Those were just dark.
Like hurling another magical girl down a bottomless elevator shaft to fall for an eternity, or murdering psychotic civilians under the influence of some demon's power, or when a PC got an eye scratched out by one of those crazy civilians, or the impending doom on multiple occasions...
also the actual magical burst parts of Magical Burst have led to the demise of a total of probably hundreds of people at this point. Not including the magically-induced riots that happened about 6 times which also increased their total collateral damage killcount.

this really is just more of general RP stuff at this point
but honestly, D&D is just sort of limited if you don't want to play fantasy. And there's so many options out there to try. Especially if you're in something like 5 games a week like I am, it's nice to play different systems
pathfinder/D&D is good and all but it's not exactly a ruleset I'm bending over backwards to play repeatedly

I can't just throw in an escalator battle out of nowhere. I need to have them finish up the shit they're in the middle of first. They're in the middle of a lot of shit, which is why we took a break and time jumped backwards for a gratuitous beach session.

Never actually played DnD proper, first thing I did play was Pathfinder. I enjoy playing it but would never run it myself. Savage Worlds has been my fave lately. DnD is just kinda archetypal for tabletop RPGs, especially fantasy. There's a ton of games out there though.
Besides, we all know the best fantasy pen and paper game is FATAL.

This was the only session with anything that extreme, and it was only due to the setting that it happened at all. The rest of the game has been serious and legitimate. Hell, ask any of the players. Or just read the logs, I keep them all:

Can't throw two enemies at them at the same time, it wouldn't be fair. And besides, by the time they killed the crab it was pretty late and we mostly wanted to wrap it up.

I am still awaiting for someone to pick up the original version of FATAL and bear through ALL THE FUCKING ROLLS. Just for one out of character creation session.

Still running an Only War game with the players vs orks at the moment and I think they players are having far too much success so far. The party likes to drive everywhere in their heavily armored tank with a mounted inferno cannon on the roof (which can turn rockcrete walls to slag), and when that doesn't work, they send the "beefy-as-fuck" ogryn out to wreck everything left standing with his bare hands (which can, incidentally, peel apart tanks like The Hulk). Suggestions for maximizing player misery?

- Nobs with rokkit launchers (Thrown off cliff by Ogryn)
- Rokkit Trukks (Pushed off of same cliff onto aforementioned Nobs)
- Minefield (Dealt some minor damage, but some incredible rolls led to them '[I]Tokyo-drifting[/I]' through the remainder of it)

My current D&D campaign has been running for nine months now, though we haven't been able to hold sessions for the past few weeks because reasons.

We already had the talk about Funk and his sheep molestation and the excuses (rather explanations, however you wish to see it) for that. We've had to stare at multiple posts of complaining about Magical Burst when they didn't even talk about the exact details of what happened and linked the chat which is [I]optional [/I]for anyone to read or ignore. I'm failing to see the issue here besides people that keep bringing it up like they're trying to start something. They have their game, they're having fun, they aren't hurting or disturbing anyone else, and that's that.
I think everyone can move onto another subject unless you're intentionally trying to instigate the matter.

As said before, I [i]obviously[/i] saw that it was wrong, but those characters are the utter scum of humanity, and they were not pretending to be anything but.
This was a bad thing they did, and they know that, because they're bad characters.
