This was rouge trader.

I figured as much, since it was a d100, I was just comparing it to my own string of odd rolling coincidences.
So I'm starting to suspect that the guy who runs all our 40k games has been seriously underestimating the suicidal level of bravery those systems inspire in us
After we (narrowly) defeated a light cruiser in our Rogue Trader game last night in our frigate, he commented that he'd half expected us to run the hell away the instant the thing had appeared
Which in hindsight would have probably been a far wiser plan considering the single main-battery hit the thing got on us chewed through more than half our ship's hull integrity, so it was an incredibly, incredibly close fight that we basically only won because the other ship horribly, horribly flubbed a point-defense roll against the last volley of torpedoes we had in the launcher, which completely gutted it
But the last time this sort of thing happened, it was in Only War and it was a few dozen guardsmen facing down six daemons, and he'd fully expected us to run the hell away then too (which we didn't because we give no fucks) and we won that fight too
And just like that fight, we're going to come out far better despite the long odds since even if it's a massive, expensive effort, we're gonna try to salvage the chaos ship and add it to our (slowly growing) fleet.

if there is loot players will not run away if there is even a slim chance they can defeat it.
I rolled five 6s back to back on a d6.
Of course, being the GM, that meant bad things for the players but that wasn't my concern.
Christ, I've seen some crazy rolls. Brick scoring a natural 1 on a d100 and doing what, 300 damage from one crit? Is certainly up there. Or a friend of mine hopped into Mekton for a game, her first roll ever, to dodge a missile? Chains six critical failures (a 1 on a d10) and flies into the missile.
and let's not forget Fluffy's critfail field causing like four enemy critfails in one turn, either

If you give a ratling the opportunity to make a ballistics skill test to beat 110 even for called shots, a whole new realm of fun opens up.
not that i miss my ratling that is, the ork im playing in RT is sooo much more fun

Wait, was this the game I took too much joy from doing bugger all in?
So after surviving a shipwreck and making our way to a poverty-stricken village, the party decided it's a good time to seek out a stream, hot spring or some other place to strip down and clean off.
The clincher is that I'm playing the only man in a 5-person party.

Mage Hand.
Consensual Mage Hand that is.
You really don't appreciate how nice it is to have hundreds of tables all easily accessible in one place until you have it. Can't believe I stuck with bookmarking and PDF grouping for so long, though I suppose I didn't have a good alternative until now.

Wow, what a steal!
[editline]8th April 2014[/editline]
Seriously, who is that priced for? I won't buy it, and I know of literally nobody else who would buy this save for really really hardcore GM's. It's a sin, because if they priced it at $10 dollars I might actually buy it.
Seeing as I have 2 of each bill-type in my wallet I am going to have to explain to 50 year old Mrs. Jefferson why her husband has suddenly disappeared

It's priced for adults and people that have good, dedicated players in their group. $50 is nothing for PnP resources (and as a hobby resource it doesn't register on any scale), and it's chump change when you divide the cost between the group, like the overwhelming majority of people buying it have done. It may come as a surprise to you, but groups that don't consist of flakes work together to get group resources -- especially GM resources -- because that's the fair and mature thing to do.
Each of my players gladly paid a portion for it, since it betters their role playing experience. It cost me less than $20 (I paid a larger portion since only I can use the product, it's only fair that way I feel) for it. I've paid more going to movies; I've paid thousands for other hobbies.
As for pirating, even if someone bothered to crack their system you would lose the entire cloud access integration, which was half the draw of the program to begin with.

Anyone with a job, mostly.
The core book of an RPG usually costs 40-60 dollars. This is really not that terrible of a price if you find yourself wasting a lot of time doing prep.
Wow, I am ridiculously far behind on these stupid logs. I need to summarize these shits. I haven't posted a log of Burst since like, February.
Speaking of which, here's an old log I finally got around to summarizing. Do try and forgive me for putting such pressure upon your scroll wheels.
Magical Burst: Session 16: Katawa Mahou Shoujo
http://pastebin.com/LbL0sapr
Previously, as you likely don't recall or care, Sarah, Val and Satoya had a little spat with Princess and Mr. A in his office. This ended after they took a tumble down a lot of stairs and ran to the hospital, while Eri and Eve were investigating some disappearances.
Starting from the perspective of Eri and Eve, Eri, Eve, Lillith and Tami leave the mysteriously empty church, heading to Eri's house. Eri and Eve insist that Tami go home, and inform the others as to what's happening. Eri gives Tami her 3-legged dog as assistance. Tami leaves, and the remaining three magical girls brew up some simple plans to find out what's going down at the next church that's scheduled to have a "party" like the empty one they found was.
They sleep at Eri's house for the night, then head to the church. Lillith goes off somewhere, Eve helps set up chairs, and Eri pokes around in the back. Eri finds that all the sweets for the party have been provided by the completely unsuspicious company Wild 13. The ingredients on the desserts are, at least, seemingly normal. Eri takes a piece of cake.
Eve is given a piece of cake by a young boy who thought she looked lonely. They converse, and the boy describes a "funny" looking girl who can make sand from nowhere that he and other children play in. Eve eats some of the cake.
A tall, pale, black-haired girl comes out, gives a speech about how she wants everyone in the world to become one so that there can be peace, and pulls out a necklace of 13 Oblivion Seeds. She exclaims "Sleep" and all in attendance, barring Eri and Eve, do. Eve passes a Fortitude check to not sleep.
They enter a Nightmare realm created by the girl, with all the people who attended the party following along into the Nightmare, asleep. The unconscious people appeared into the Nightmare without clothes, and all started drawing together in the center of the room and congealing into a giant, fleshy ball of people, like smashing playdough together.
Eri, Eve and the girl exchange blows. Eri smashes her piece of cake into the girl's face, to no effect. Eve has sand forced down her throat and is sent into a choking fit that she can't recover from despite like 10 consecutive Fortitude checks, all of which she failed.
Lillith crashes through the ceiling as the room fills with sand.
With Lillith forming an arrow of light, Eri providing some assistance, and Eve giving a thumbs up of support while choking, they nail the girl's ring with a magic arrow of light. The ring shatters and the girl transforms into a Youma.
Eri, Eve and Lillith retreat down a path that is a sliding ramp of sand, avoiding obstacles, and ending up over a large pit with pipes spaced randomly between walls, extending from one wall to its opposite. Eve falls onto one of these gut-first and has the sand blockage forcibly cleared, Eri flies overhead and digs her sword into the wall, and Lillith makes a platform of light.
Some quick conversing, and Lillith proclaims she has a way out. She walks through a wall, inviting the others to join her. They refuse because they're fucking dumb.
Soon after, down the ramp flies ANOTHER magical girl, dressed like your stereotypical magician, proclaiming herself as Shibata the Great. The Youma crawls down the ramp, and after some quick shenanigans, the trio of girls prepare for battle.
Meanwhile, Sarah and Satoya are on one another, in a bush, outside a hospital after they crashed out a window. Shosuke, Satoya's husband, has just arrived and is incredibly confused. Val, Shosuke's sister, is yelling at Sarah and Satoya for being lesbians. Sarah's limbs are broken.
Conversation happens, Val grabs a wheelchair and sets Sarah in it. She wheels Sarah up some stairs. Satoya runs off quickly and without much notice.
After some more shenanigans, Sarah in the wheelchair, Val and Shosuke arrive on the second floor of the hospital, where Sarah's room is.
From a hall runs none other than Sarah, but older and more grizzled looking. She proclaims herself as Sarah from the future and declares that Sarah must marry Satoya and kill Val, or she will get cancer. Sarah believes her. FutureSarah runs off.
Satoya, who was actually FutureSarah in disguise courtesy of a magic makeup kit she has, ducks into her brother's hospital room and has a quick chat with him.
Back in Sarah's room, Sarah pulls aside the privacy curtain of her fellow roommate, revealing Princess. Sarah pokes the sleeping Princess. Princess bites Sarah's hand.
Val jumps out of the already broken window, and releases a Heart Burst Youma, while Princess mashes the "call nurse" button.
Val returns to the room, nurses settle Princess after some shenanigans, and Satoya enters the room. Sarah overhears Princess angst about someone not caring about her.
What can be described as "lesbian yuri bullshit" happens, and things finally calm down enough for the entire group, Princess included, to converse. It is revealed that Sarah stole the suitcase of Arcanium from Satoya. Princess is incredibly displeased, explaining how Mr. A is unhappy with her.
A little later, the lesbian yuri bullshit increases tenfold, with more than too much unnecessary crap going on. This ends with Satoya storming out of the room with Shosuke, but not before she uses her bone magic to break as many of Sarah's bones as she can, which turns out to be quite a few.
Sarah, at the same time, uses her mindfuck powers to brutally trigger Satoya's Agonizing Pain magical change, leaving her a blood-frothing mess.
Satoya is carted off and Sarah is attended to.
These doctors are starting to get pretty sick of this bullshit.
End session.
I live well below the poverty line regarding income and I could still afford that if I felt like affording it.
goddamnit NPH give me my commission money!! Talking about the poverty line ffs I oughta raise the price exponentially :v:

What I'm saying is why would you bother pricing it at $50 dollars for it when you have so many other mostly free alternatives.
Obviously it's probably a great tool, but $50 dollars is just a little steep considering it's just the GM side of the program.
Admittedly they did say that the player side would be cheap, but one would think that if you spend $50 dollars for the GM side you should get like, four or so copies of the player side for free.
It's only like, $50 dollars, but that's still quite a bit of money when you have completely free options. They may suck in comparison, but free is free.

So suck it up and use the free shit. You get what you pay for.
And I will, as will most people.
I personally think a tool like this could go for $20 dollars and it would sell 3 times as much, but I guess they figured otherwise.
So suck it up and use the free shit. You get what you pay for.
Still a terrible price for something that only gets gimped by such a high price.
Also, I was looking on their website, and you only get 6 months of cloud support. Do you have to pay for it after those six months?
[editline]9th April 2014[/editline]
Yeah, six months of cloud support costs 25 dollars for 6 months, and 40 dollars a year.
At the end of your complimentary 6 months of standard tier cloud service, you’ll have the opportunity to continue cloud service for a price of $24.99 for 6 months, or $39.99 for one year.

They may suck in comparison, but free is free.
Because quite a many people are willing to pay for something they find quality, especially if it pertains to their hobby. Jesus christ it's like you think Wizards and every other big PnP publisher got this far on torrented PDF's and not their "expensive" books for the past 40 years. Not everyone is a cheap sob that won't shovel out $50 for a hobby tool. If everyone was like you, no one would even have any of the oh so loved great PnP systems today.
The same people that whine about a tool being expensive are the same people that pay for inane shit all the time that have no investment and can't even comhperehend what they're doing. Honestly, complaining about prices on tools of all things -- things that by their very nature provide positive investment. How utterly naive.
