Anyone starting up a game, or have any free slots for a game? I'm down for pretty much whatever.
i'd also be down for whatevers, though im sure that a lot of people in this thread feel the same way
You say whatever, but would you really be able to handle FATAL? :v:
I just started making a campaign based on sewer-based dungeons thanks to inspiration for the D&D wiki. Basically, the city is pretty damn advanced for the time. Combining Arcane Knowledge (now called Manascience) and Engineering, magical generators (I call them M-gines :downs:) are now a thing and basically emulates electricity, but uses spells instead of whatever electricity does and wire matrixes full of magic (Manathreads) instead of wires full of electrons. ...but our heroes are pretty much bottom rung labourers and are basically employed as elite sewer maintenance crews know as 'Sewer Rats' who handle more 'exotic' clogs and 'hard to clean' spots of the massive underground waterways the city was built upon. The waterways have since been built into with a system of pipes and pumps powered by M-gines, too, so that'll be interesting. I hope it goes well. And by well I mean seeing them fall into giant pits of Green Slime, only to make every saving throw and set the whole place on fire... and something about Mindflayers in there, too. Yeah, illithid out the ass in this one.
Does anyone find it as hard as I do to even think about playing Unclassy Evil?
You say whatever, but would you really be able to handle FATAL? :v:
Good point. [editline]19th May 2014[/editline]
Does anyone find it as hard as I do to even think about playing Unclassy Evil?
No. Fucked up, weird evil is the most fun kind of evil. [editline]19th May 2014[/editline] Asked the warhammer thread, figure I'd post it here. I'm GM'ing an Only War game, and I have an extra 1-2 slots for players to join. It's at Tuesdays 6/7 EST. If you want more info, contact me on steam.
I mean, I was toying with the idea of starting up a game of Numenera over the summer, but that would depend on interest and the type of game people would want to play. I generally try to shoot for semi-serious but I like to say I have a high tolerance when it comes to player shenanigans. To describe the setting for those who don't know it:
Numenera is set a billion years in the future. Eight great civilizations have risen and fallen on Earth. Even though the current inhabitants live at about a medieval level of technology, the leftover remnants of these ancient advanced societies lie all around them. Some of these are extremely helpful: advanced tools, valuable means of communication and learning, transportation, defenses, and weapons. Others are dangerous: genetically altered monstrosities, flesh-warping radiation, creatures transplanted from distant stars, and clouds of out-of-control nanobots, just to name a few. This setting, called the Ninth World provides all manner of opportunities and challenges to those that call it home. Player characters explore this world of mystery and danger to find these leftover artifacts of the past, not to dwell upon the old ways, but to help forge their new destinies, utilizing the so-called "magic" of the past to create a promising future.
If you want to get a feel for what kind of setting Numenera is and ya got time to waste, you can read the short story "The Amber Monolith" here. Making characters is extremely easy, and the system is more narrative based (but not quite as focused on narrative as, say, FATE).
Numenera's p. cool. I browsed the gigantic core book one time before falling asleep and using it as a pillow, I've to say the Chargen's interesting and looked fun.
Don't let the core book size deceive you, only the first 130 pages are rules, the rest is setting, GM advice (actually really good advice, it already assumes you know stuff about RPGs rather than be for newbie GMs to RPGs in general), the 3 pre-made adventures, the bestiary, and talking about technological artifacts and what have you. Also on May 21 they're coming out with the Character Options book, which is basically a whole bunch of new stuff for characters.
It's astonishing how often someone says a game should get started up, whatever's fine, somebody immediately brings up FATAL and then y'all have a discussion about how bad that is and nothing comes of the original remark It's like everyone's a huge closet FATAL fan or something

I mean it literally went like this.
Anyone starting up a game, or have any free slots for a game? My point is that you go on about FATAL a lot and it seems weird to me since it's supposed to be awful
My point is that you go on about FATAL a lot and it seems weird to me since it's supposed to be awful
You find it weird that people mention how awful an awful system is? I don't see your logic.
I'm not gonna read through 195 pages to see if anyone else said this before, but everyone should really give Dungeon World a try.
My point is that you go on about FATAL a lot and it seems weird to me since it's supposed to be awful
Because it's infamous as shit. It's the same reason people go on about Big Rigs, and more recently Ride to Hell Retribution.
For the people looking for games, send me a message. I'm free on wednesdays and thursdays usually, and would be down for running a game of 3.5 or Pathfinder, in the classic Dungeoncrawl style.

Is it going to be like the GM is pretty much just a computer or is it more like "just please don't make me try to GM court intrigue" sort of thing? Because I like telling stories.
Hey, anybody remember Pocket RPG? I have fond memories of it. One time my old gramps type character jumped from a 2nd story window of a burning hotel and landed as onlookers stared at him with amazement and fear in our first session :v:

Sooooo... anyone here ever heard of Feng Shui? It's a totally kickass Hong Kong action cinema inspired RPG with a focus on using the environment in fights, time travel, and a character class who's pretty much Jack Burton from Big Trouble in Little China it's all shades of amazing
I'm going to be running old school AD&D modules that I convert to PF rules, so it kind of depends I guess?
The everything-is-a-mimic kind?
The everything-is-a-mimic kind?
Lol, not quite, but there are a lot of sneaky fucking traps for sure.
Lol, not quite, but there are a lot of sneaky fucking traps for sure.
If you've got a space open and don't mind the possiblity of my curse taking effect, count me in.
If you've got a space open and don't mind the possiblity of my curse taking effect, count me in.
Sure, add me on steam. Still trying to get a time figured out.
The everything-is-a-mimic kind?
Nothing better than the horror on the faces of your players as you reveal the entire dungeon was a mimic.
Nothing better than the horror on the faces of your players as you reveal the entire dungeon was a mimic.
I've made suits of armor be mimics before Very unfortunate for the fighter who put it on.
Still waiting for someone to update orgy rules for the current day D&D. It's been a long time since 1st ed.
Friend is setting up a Rogue Trader group that I'm going to be a part of. Quite excited as I love the world of 40k and it's lore.
