2nd edition had like I/O ports and nodes and shit. I never really got into it.
I like the idea since I love retardedly in-depth systems but it's like, when there's more derivative stats used for hacking than there are normal stats, and for the most part you need to keep track of all of them to do anything, it's kind of ridiculous

hacking in 5e is easy though
the only thing that's a pain in the ass imo is keeping track of overwatch score
If people are interested, I'll post the map when it's done, maybe more if I think it's cool enough.
That actually sounds like a really good setup for a campaign.
...soooo... do you need a gnome? :v: :v: :v:
Someone throw me a heads up if there is a Shadowrun 5th edition game going on and you need a player! I tried running it as a GM and wasn't a big fan of the labyrinthine rules but I think I'd enjoy it way more as a player.
Write me up for wanting to play this too, I need to get back into SR.
no what's irl?
irl means "In real life".
He is basically saying its a game between people who know eachother personally, not just people on their steam friends list or whatever.

Well you see it's when...
It's like meatspace in Shadowrun but for real and your stats suck.
In other news I'm running a Sci-Fi game but I keep getting ideas that would only work in a fantasy game. With elves and gods and magic and shit.
Help.

Shadowrun, replace gods with spirits.

Run Spelljammer! Your problems are all solved!
By running a Sci-Fi game I mean I'm already in the process of running said game and I keep getting ideas that I can't fit into it.
I am actually half-tempted to just start doing a game using Dungeon World as a basis, it's just that most of the people I usually play with wouldn't be able to make it as far as I know. Plus GMing 2 games at once ehhhhh.

add children that need to be saved so I can run orphanage. Also there is still bountyhunting or maybe asad is corrupt or the police officer was jsut pretending to be incompentent and is secretly secret sun cult leader
Maybe the entire system is under attack by the brains from futurama and that's why everyone is a blinding idiot
that would also explain why we have two Fry's in the party

If everyone was smart enough to figure out everything that's going on, you guys'd be unemployed.
Not everyone is as stupid as Zheng and Marienn were. :v:
While cleaning, I found a 'make your own sheet of papyrus' kit I must have gotten at a museum over a decade ago. Our current D&D game is extremely Egypt-flavored, I'm gonna see if it's still good to make and give it to the DM.

I still think going 'we're smart enough to know what the guys kidnapping people are already but we're going to wait two months for you assholes to get back from titan despite our HOME BASE being over the planet where it's happening' is still pretty phenomenally stupid

Nobody said they knew for sure. It was just a theory.
(That happened to be correct.)

Suddenly magic appears ala the awakening in Shadowrun. People turn into elves and shit and gods begin throwing their wang around.
boom all problems solved guaranteed or your money back

That would literally fuck the setting over so bad though.
Like it's already got magic it just has the kind of magic the drives you fucking insane to use because it's a Lovecraftian Horror thing. (Gods already throw their wangs around in the form of Cthulhu and Co. playing billiards with our solar system.) Elves would have to be the kill-you-and-eat-your-soul kind, because the point of the setting/Lovecraftian thing is you're a weak-ass human being and there's shit out there that could eat you and all your friends for breakfast and still be hungry.

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." - Athur C Clarke
If something seems impossible in Sci fi it just means your tech level isn't high enough.

yeah were on tech 8 for weapon tech 9 for items. tech 8 is definitely not high enough to be magic. However I do have an apc with flamethrowers on it. Close enough I guess. and actually syberys has magic that you have to kill 15 people and it kills you too to use but I guess it still counts.

Corollary to the above:
Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from a really big gun
and actually syberys has magic that you have to kill 15 people and it kills you too to use but I guess it still counts.
And all that does really is tell an old god how much you love him and ask him to swing by to collect your soul.

Read: Cultist incompetence. Because everyone in the first mission was incompetent as hell.
Pleasantly surprised with D&D 5th edition so far. Bought the players handbook, and I really like what I see. Hard to pull away from pathfinder with its guns and cybernetics and other non-fantasy elements but D&D 5th looks easily customizable for even that kinda stuff.
