Detonite, I only had to blow up an office, it was also the perfect distraction for what we were actually supposed to be doing.

Anyone down for a Star Wars: Force and Destiny game?
Basically everyone is a classic Jedi, like Ben Kenobi, and Yoda, and you're outcasts in society that wants to purge you. It's a fun idea.
Anyway, message me if interested and I'll give you the rules.

Old Order Jedi are foolishly foolish fools who are too foolish to see through their own tomfoolery.

Sorry, I suppose I misspoke, I meant like, classic jedi in the sense of the original trilogy, not referring to the jedi order itself. Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader also fit that.

So... what does that mean "classic"?

Like, completely ignoring all details given in the Prequels or what?

As in like: weird hermit people whose existences were literally made illegal so no one wants to be associated with them.
[editline]28th August 2014[/editline]
It's like if a bunch of fascist atheist super nazis ruled the world but the players were a bunch of greek gods.
I started playing Pathfinder with a bunch of other friends who are starting and I'm having so much fun. We have a cleric that keeps getting critical fails. He knocked himself out in a fist fight and he's thrown himself overboard when he was meant to throw an object off the ship we're on. It took 5 swim checks and the GM got so tired of him failing climb checks after that he just got an NPC to throw him a rope. We're doing some pirate campaign.

Sounds like a campaign of doing bugger all.
Out of curiosity is there an Old Republic era Tabletop game yet? Because honestly the Old Republic lore is way better than a lot of the other stuff.

There is, for star wars d20, theres a whole suplement for Old Republic.
I disagreed because classic star wars > old republic > most everything else > prequels.
Midi-fucking-chlorians.
dat lasst lightsabre duel tho
dat lasst lightsabre duel tho
The action sequences were probably the only area the prequels did better than the originals. The lightsaber fights in the originals were slow and clunky. Understandable, and it even worked in-story, but they weren't nearly as intense as any of the prequel fights. And the podracing bit was awesome, no way to deny it. The starfighter segments were a bit of a mess but even then it was an exhilarating mess.
Honestly, having read most of the Expanded Universe, the prequels aren't really that bad by Star Wars standards. Seriously, at least they avoided the superweapon-of-the-month problem even the originals started showing signs of.

Yeah, but last two in the OT hold up. One the first one was a clunky tappity shufflefest. Mostly due to the props.

The last movie, Revenge of the Sith, is actually pretty good. It has a really good story, great tone, and that last fight has the perfect balance between choreography and raw emotion.
The first two were shit tho.
Speaking of Star Wars, I was wondering what the effective range of the Death Star was, since the idea of it shooting at planets in other systems was ridiculous, but ya know, movie magic. A short bit of research later reveals that the thing actually moves. And not just sublight either, it can go into hyperspace.
.
A small moon. Jumping into hyperspace. Holy shit.
Can't find a group. I work evenings/weekdays, start at 3:30pm, get off at 12:30am, all Central time. This is hell.

Well, of course it had hyperdrive. How did you think it got from Alderaan to Yavin?
Some fluff books list the range as 47 million kilometers, or about 0.3AU. I'm not sure if that applies only to the first, or if the second had different specs (it was much smaller, but had a far bigger power source).

It's obvious after the fact. They call it a battlestation though, which seems to imply it doesn't move, and I guess I just figured it was always at Yavin, and fired at Alderaan from there, which doesn't make sense, but most sci-fi tech doesn't so I never really thought much of it. There's also the whole problem of gravity and hyperspace tech.

Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game (d6) has the Tales of the Jedi companion, based on the first three arcs of the Tales of the Jedi comics:
http://swrw.net/source/D20%20-%20Star%20Wars%20-%20Tales%20Of%20The%20Jedi%20Companion.pdf
Star Wars Roleplaying Game (d20) has the Knights of the Old Republic Campaign Guide. It's the stuff from KotOR 1 and 2, and the first fifty KotOR comics:

The most recent Star Wars Roleplaying Game has no such supplement, so nothing from the MMO.

I've only ever watched the movies once and could never get into KotOR and such.
So my knowledge of the lore is shit. Still, depending on days and the like, I could try it out. Online gives me a chance to look things up on the side as events happen and all.

Prequels? Huh? What prequels? Don't know what you're talking about. There hasn't been anything Star Wars related since the good old original trilogy.
I hear they're making a sequel though.

oh c'mon this is almost as bad as nerds going "lol matrix is a good movie shame there weren't any sequels!! XD!!"
[editline]29th August 2014[/editline]
i love robocop and i acknowledge the terrible sequels
share my pain, motherfuckers
Prequels aren't really all that bad when you think about how well they expanded the universe and tbh they did a decent job of making a prequel story. Even though the dialogue and direction of the movies were awful they still have a pretty good arc. Just reading the story of the prequels and the stuff they contributed to the universe on wookiepedia is somehow better written than the actual movies.
Stuff like: "Anakin Skywalker was an apprentice of Obi-Wan who was given too much power at a time when he was emotionally unstable and vulnerable, he ended up falling in love and giving into the dark side because he acted with anger and jealousy instead of with compassion and logic so he could sustain that love." sounds a lot better than just Hayden Christensen saying stupid shit like "Your butt is smooth like a butter stick in the microwave" and whining and crying all the time because he killed some dude out of revenge.
[editline]29th August 2014[/editline]
Also general grevious holy shit what a cool dude despite his use in the prequels being awful
but since the prequels introduced him, other writers could formulate a better character out of him and try to ignore the awful touch of Lucas, which made grevious a good addition to star wars
Unless you're Aliens you have no right to complain about things being 'ruined'
seriously I've been a fan of that franchise since I was a little kid but sans AvP and AvP2 (the games) I don't think it's produced a single worthwhile piece of work in my lifetime
