He hasn't dropped out, he just misses about 50% of the sessions, or has to leave early.
Also, the fact that he basically couch surfs at dai's for days beforehand isn't cool either. But like I said I just don't like confrontation and I don't want to hear the other player bitch about us dropping him. (and he will, at length)
I ran a party of 3 played by myself through a basic dungeon, to try and get used to the whole DM thing.
They got through the entire dungeon okay, but when it was just the last creature they almost all died do to the most bullshit luck. Thank Christ for Warforged resolve.
Even when the Fighter critically hit the Blade spider (reduced it's stats too), it literally brought the thing down to 1 hp, giving it the extra round it needed to kill the rogue and drop the Warlord.
I feel bad now.
Because Mouse Guard was mentioned, I pulled the book out of the closet after work and skimmed through it again. Gotta love d6 systems.
d6 is the mightiest die
Plus the easiest to scrounge more of when you lose 5 under a table
At first I was all 'd6? psh, shit is fo babies and monopoly mayne'
but then I played traveller.

Play Shadowrun, rolling 20d6 for one check is normal.

Sounds like Exalted
Sounds like Exalted
I dunno about Exalted, but in SR someone rolls to hit, then the other guy rolls to dodge, and if he's hit he rolls damage resistance. All of which can easily be 12+ dice, especially if you've got a minmaxed troll rolling like 12 body + 20 armour
I'm pretty sure siberys rolled 60d10 to make an attack once in Exalted, shit was nuts.

No that was me rolling 15d10
something like 12 times
because Air Dragon was the fucking shit
I'm really sad I only ever got to touhou one guy to death
Exalted means well but the balance issues are fucking horrific
So i'm curious as if anyone would be interested in playing a pathfinder with me as dm. Before you jump on the occasion to get a group, i'm only looking for the group, it'll be a good while before we start up if at all. (depends on college and my other dnd group) so shoot me a PM if you're interested and i'll talk with all the potential players.
And feel free to include any questions in the pm instead of just "i want to play"
[editline]4th September 2014[/editline]
oh and before i get to mention, I will GLADLY help new players interested in pathfinder

As weird as this is, Exalted really isn't for the balance.
It's for being a completely broken world ending nuclear super weapon.

Yeah, but there's particular world ending nuclear super weapons that can make anything trivial. Ask Siberys about his Touhou charms.

Well, the problem is that the only people who are supposed to be able to learn that style are Air aspect Immaculate Dragonblooded. Further, those charms have been nerfed to Malfeas and back.
There's nothing saying solars can't, I know I was paying a surcharge on the charms and there was something else I had to do for it but I forget what on account of it having been a long time ago (and I had to spend a bunch of points on mentor besides to actual know someone who'd teach me it)
Nonetheless it was all a waste because we never fought anything even remotely threatening during the shit investigation and the only people who fought something that might have been worthy of that was when rats was going out of his way to forcibly kill off the abyssal (and failing) and I was cut out of that fight along with the rear's combat dude so it was basically all bullshit
And I'd wanted to be in a fight like that hence why I kept telling rats my hardcounters so maybe I could actually do the thing my character was actually good at

There's setting information saying that nobody that isn't an Immaculate Dragonblooded should have any way of learning it. In reality they'd be 20x more likely to kill you than they would to teach you anything about the style.
The thing is, building a fight to specifically counter you would not have made the fight easy or fun for anybody else. Your hardcounters were, if I remember right, "Lots and lots of enemies who take more than a few hits to kill". That remains true even if you aren't the one attacking them, and managing a lot of enemies in a single combat, with the way Exalted combat works, would not have been fun for anybody.
If you actually think that an immaculate or a bronze faction Sidereal would teach you Immaculate MAs under any circumstances at all, you're wrong. The DBs are indoctrinated from birth to hate and despise you. Even with the Sifu backround, you don't/shouldn't have access to Immaculate MAs, no more than you would have access to Sidereal MAs.
Well, I told you more than that, and you were the one who let me have it in the first place, despite me spelling out all the shit it would let me do, so that's on you Rats. I wanted to make a combat char. I asked if I could do it with this MA. You said yes, and didn't ever explicitely tell me that you'd changed your mind on it, so that's entirely a problem on your end
In any case, bad game, it's over now, never playing exalted again, etc
I think I do remember bringing up the whole Immaculate hatred of Solars thing at some point, though I can't remember if you were actually there for that or not.
Regardless, yes, I did a shit job of running Exalted and 2E has a lot of issues. Here's hoping 3E is more fun.
Edit: I do also remember trying to bring up reasons why you guys definitely shouldn't do things/be allowed to, only to be met with a chorus of "WOW BAD GM IGNORE THE SETTING AND LET US HAVE FUN."
Exalted means well but the balance issues are fucking horrific
thats an understatement
I'll never forget the first game I GM'd.
Instead of exploring a shady dungeon the group decided to start a traveling circus.

Seems like the sensible choice.

reminds me of Guild Wars 2, when you're picking one of your backstory bits (when creating a human), you've got three icons at one screen to choose, which show the blurbs below as you click them. They were in this order:
[sp]I was orphaned as a child, and never knew who my parents really were[/sp]
man that's sad, I wonder how that'll come into play with the people I meet or where I might visit in their footsteps
[sp]My sister was killed by centaurs and I regret never recovering her body[/sp]
jesus christ that's depressing, I already want revenge on the bastards. I wonder if the next option could possibly be better
[sp]I always wanted to join the circus[/sp]
it got better
the circus storyline doesn't even redeem itself, it's just a goofy who-dun-it involving a [sp]hypnotizing device[/sp]
i still haven't even gotten to the parts where my storyline is relevant..
i still haven't even gotten to the parts where my storyline is relevant..
Do your personal story quests. That's the only part of the game where it matters all that much.
i still haven't even gotten to the parts where my storyline is relevant..
in GW2? your personal racial story take place in 3 incremental story arcs, across personal story quests in chunks of lv 1-10, 11-19, then 22-28.
After that you join the pool of all-inclusive quests. You spend lv 30-40 working with your mentor (logan, rytlock, zojja, caithe, or eir) to decide how to help several missions from the three orders before joining one, then you spend 20 levels doing related missions for them. The last 20 levels is spent in the 'saving the world' phase
it all works out as a modest origin story for your character
All right folks, fresh off the press. Here is some background music I just finished writing that we'll be using in our next session of Eclipse Phase.

I wrote a greentext about the worst player I've ever had in a game ever

Mr Turbo gives both Turbo and Drow a bad name.
