What happened there was a miracle and you should want everyone to acknowledge that.
Honestly my decker has just had amazing luck in general in fights Haven't been hurt once in 3 sessions across 4 fights, and it wasn't till today I'd even been hit Probably because compared to the troll, the physad, the milspec trooper with a rocket launcher, and two mages, one chick with a sniper rifle doesn't come across as a massive threat But yea, dodging 11+ damage 3 times on 23 dice (save the one with an extra 5 from edge) probably stands out as one of my luckiest moments
so I just got to level 3 in my group as a Rogue in D&D 5th, and I'm pretty conflicted on whether or not I want to go Thief or Arcane Trickster. both have some shenanigans that I could use to great extent, but my intelligence is 11 and that's no bueno for spell checks as a Trickster. anybody have experience playing as these classes? [editline]12th October 2014[/editline] also rope swung through a window and saved the mayor of a town we were in while the rest of the party broke into the house swat style, tossing a dagger into a dude's face before jumping out the window with the mayor over my shoulder. earned me an inspiration point :v:
I figured out how to make an indestructible bling spell book in PF, these variant rules let you make the bindings and pages of the book from solid gold, costing 7600gp; http://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/other-rules/variant-rules-3rd-party/bastion-press/spellbooks-scrolls-variant-rules Then this spell gives books a bunch of hardness and 1 HP for every gp it's worth, you can add inscriptions and gems and shit to boost it higher. http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/3rd-party-spells/super-genius-games---3rd-party-spells/ironpage And if you can blow that much cash on what's basically bragging rights, using permanancy on that spell's not too hard, but the spell lasts for days anyway.
i'm going on a cruise in january and apparently theres going to be a large D&D game on board so im super hype
First session of GM'ing went mostly well on my end, but my party of noob players are pretty much pants-on-head retarded. Some shining moments were 1. finding a huge javelin trap pointing directly at the door and proceeding to open the door without disabling the device and 2. Trying to lockpick the dungeon boss's treasure chest WHILE STILL IN COMBAT with said boss. It'll be a long campaign.

Your best bet is Book Ward.
It's a third party spell, sadly. Your best bet is Book Ward.
Pfft, everyone knows 3rd party spells never cause any balance issues what so ever.
How'd they manage that?
How'd they manage what? Getting trapped into a painting (I pushed everybody in once I realized it was a pocket plane) or the holy-shit-please-kill-me levels of boring? Honestly I have no clue, but not long after I got there at the start they were busy spending two fucking hours deciding via bureaucracy what exactly they should keep or sell from their last mission. [editline]13th October 2014[/editline] "HEY [DM], WILL WE NEED THIS ORIENTAL BUTTER KNIFE LATER IN THE CAMPAIGN???" "Uhh, probably not?" "WE SHOULD KEEP IT JUST IN CASE" cue endless bickering about it's usefulness until I eventually told everyone to just shut the fuck up and sell the useless thing

The DM fell asleep early on (no really, he actually started snoring at one point) and for the first hour or two they spent calculating their 'funds.' We're talking hardcore graphing calculators out, dozens of sheets of paper with numbers, among other things. nigga just sell everything I swear to god the fucking dwarf is starting a small fire while you're doing this
Yes.
For the record, I want to say that this is genuine. I actually miss that shamefully short game of ours. I think we had something going :(
Last session was short, but not bad. Group took on the half-dragon that lightning-stomped the dwarf at the beginning. Flanked by four berserkers, they stomped half the group in to the dirt before finally being defeated by the Ranger and Thief. Both the Monk (dai) and the Druid rolled 1s on their death saving throws, resulting in actual death. I decided to be nice and let them get resurrects because they actually were clever and found a spell they could use to preserve the bodies for the trip to a city, but as a result they lost out on a lot of good info and treasure from the dungeon, which they had to bail out of halfway through. Everybody gets one.
Hahahaha oh my fucking god... you need to tell us the whole story, this is golden.
I'll probably take a little bit of my time later tonight to write up the entire story, but Jesus Christ it was awful. The entire party were some form of fighters besides a single other Druid who was some sort of half-birdman half-elf thing (jesus christ I already hated elves, but who knew they were degenerate enough to fuck a god damn bird) and the asshole Cleric who was supposedly 'lawful neutral' when he was asking questions like 'how much do frogs go on the slave market?' The only other person worth mentioning had to be the viking dwarf who had a problematic obsession with fire for god knows what reason. Speaking of which, I'm not entirely sure the tapestry we're all trapped in right now is currently on fire or not, I have to check back on that.
my players haven't been able to play for like three weeks next session they're going to feel the full brunt of my resentment as a 6,000 man strong army utterly decimates them and everything they hold dear

That should shut them up.

But this could work if they're really shitty. It could also make them want to play an evil villain campaign tho.
I was talking bein preventative. But this could work if they're really shitty. It could also make them want to play an evil villain campaign tho.
Then there is no hope for them. Best to torch the building they're playing in.
We find ourselves undecided on what to do after looting the defiled tombs in the crypt. So I thought I'd let Facepunch decide on our next course of action in the campaign. So what shall we do? comb the town for survivors, try and secure a known wizard's tower, and possibly rescue the wizard, do a house to house clearing, or turtle into our current defensive position and set up magical defenses to prevent the entry of undead into the church?
Wizard's tower Definitely not the last option, the only thing that can happen there is waves of undead like that fucking cabin in RE4 with probably no possibility of loot Though trying to hold crumbling defenses would be cool as fuck to play out/DM, I don't know why the party would put themselves willingly into that scenario :v:
Yeah you should always opt to save wizards. Sometimes they give you magical swag. Other times, turn you into frogs. It's a win-win scenario.
Well, in the last D&D 5th campaign I played, I managed to convince a group of Kobolds that me and the party were the Kobolds "Joseph" (me) and his two cousins, who got transformed by a wizard on their way to the dungeon, then I won at a card game against a Dragonborn and beat him in battle because he asked for a duel (with bets on the table), made myself some good 100GP out of the card game and the duel and became the Kobold's hero (to the point where they wanted to be transformed into humans after watching the duel with the Dragonborn) Then I sacrificed the Dragonborn to an evil deity that spoke through a statue, who blessed me with +2 damage on all my weapons (I was playing a fighter), killed a Drake, had a retarded conversation with a Troll and managed to convince him to eat a bunch of sheep instead of the princess we were supposed to rescue, charmed the princess to hell and back to the point that she wants to marry me because I'm a Noble (and she thinks I revived her when in fact it was the Cleric, but he let it pass by). By the end of the session I found a grinding stone that I promptly used on my Great Axe and now the bastard speaks and wants to kill everything in sight against my wishes, it was a fun session.
While playing as a fighter in 5e I managed to convince a bunch of goblins that I am arrow-proof. Does that count :v:
So my first D&D session went well. Started at around 2pm (with making characters), played till around 3am, woke up, did the same till around 5pm the next day. I was a kobold who believed, legitimately, that he was a dragon. My partner in crime was a generic "dunno anything about my past" half-elf who I hated because fuck Elves. The starter quests our DM made we did to introduce us to the game were two brother Nobles who's castles were overrun. One guy's castle was overtaken by a witch and her mute, apparently evil, husband, and the other was taken over by Succubi and just lots of random mobs to get us used to combat. We went after the witch first. We knocked on the front door of the castle and were greeted by some guards who insulted us, didn't believe their master sent us, and were angry when we asked how scalable their walls were. After that, they slammed the door in their face and just climbed up to the second story (which our DM wasn't expecting, apparently). We popped up into a bedroom with a locked cabinet. I failed my lock-picking, so instead of leaving it be, we threw it out a window, and my buddy climbed back down, fell two stories, found out nothing was in it, and came back. It was around this time we decided to take on our first enemies. Six guards, two archers were right outside the door. Mr. Edgy McHalf-Elf sort of tanked everything while I managed some good rolls and killed most of the guards, though I did get punctured by about three arrows. After that, we had left one guy alive, and we both tackled him. After tying him up, I tried to interrogate him, got bored since he wouldn't say shit, stole his boots, and lit him on fire. His screams attracted two more guards which we dispatched in two rounds, but the second one managed to get more help first, which we also dispatched. Afterwards, we went into a large room on the same floor, which appeared big and empty. Inside, we saw mounds of gold. Also, a rather angry wyvern. Instead of trying to fight it, we ran away. We ran up the stairs to the third floor (where we knew the witch and her hubby were, saw them through a window earlier), kicked the door down (we flipped a coin to see if we could do it in time), and unleashed the wyvern on the witch and the guy (by rolling a die to see who it would attack first). The Wyvern brutally murdered the guy, so we never even learned his name, then murdered the Witch, and was then low enough HP for us to kill in one hit. The DM also did not see this coming, and was rather unhappy at how we ended two boss fights by making them fight each other. There's more, but that's the most interesting bits. All in all, I had a fuckload of fun and we're hoping to get together to play again sometime. [editline]14th October 2014[/editline] Oh I also, in the second dungeon, managed to convince another Kobold I was a dragon, so I gained a follower for a while but eventually he was murdered by a Succubus.
