I like Eclipse Phase because it allows people to be very invested in the world and players can actually imagine themselves interacting and exploring it.
EP is by far my favorite science fiction setting in tabletop RPGs, and the rules are actually not that crunchy if you get down to it. But I can't wholly agree that players can imagine themselves interacting and exploring the setting, at least not initially. The setting is so bizarre and the technology so advanced that it really takes a while getting used to the setting. The blatant political bias in the core rulebook doesn't really help either (and I'm a bleeding heart liberal), but the authors' definitely toned it down in the supplements.
Nonetheless, it's still my top sci-fi favorite, and I threw $40 at the kickstarter for the Transhuman player's guide because fuck all

Yes it's like I'm really surrounded by Robo-hermaphrodites
Speaking of eclipse phase, I spent 20 points specifically on the Stunning Looks trait for 1 purpose.
To robofuck cyberbitches.
I was sorely dissapointed by the severe lack of techno-banging this last game, so this one coming up... you better have mecha-hos lining up at my feet.

This is a great post use to segway in to a thought I had.
Perfect way to punish a criminal: Kill their current body, then put their cortical stack in a pleasure pod. Effectively the same as selling them as sex slaves.

This is a great post for the segway into the thought I had as well.
I turned my ethics off on in my cyberbrain. *hint hint*.
Also, the above thought is kinda gross. I dont wanna be doing my kawaii loli pod while she has the brain of a 50 year old robometh dealer.
My own experiences, really. From the games I've GM'd in PF, it takes more GM preparation time out of game and more GM system mastery in game, especially if you've got one or more min/max players, to keep things working properly. The game itself is a resource management-oriented game on the players' part (managing spells, hit points, equipment, etc.) and the GM's part (making your own villains/customized monsters, balancing encounters and treasure on appropriate CR levels). Seriously, try putting together a level 12 fighter as an NPC on the fly in the middle of combat. It sucks when you tell your players "sorry, I don't have this guy statted out".
For Pathfinder, of all the game systems, you need to make use of the resources available. I tested myself to see how long it took to make a level 12 Fighter and it took all of 8 seconds in Hero Lab, given that I have thousands of pre-made NPCs already created from data sets. In addition to that I also had 20 levels worth of every core class pre-made in d20Pro, which is as simple as typing 'Fighter 12th' and drag-dropping him onto the map. The latter example was from a free addon too.
PnP have always required investment to get the most out of them. I decided to invest in things to make the game go faster and smoother so we spent less time prepping and more time playing. You won't get the optimal experience if you try to only get the bare basics; nor without taking advantage of technology specifically designed to make the redundant processes easier.

As I said, those traits doesn't make it a completely bad system. If I hated PF as much as some people on here hate 4e I wouldn't even bother playing it, or running it for that matter. It's just a kind of game that has certain aspects that I don't 100% like. That being said I know if, given enough tinkering it could be adapted to the kind of playstyle I like, which is ultimately why I think it's a solid system, albeit a flawed one.
You make it sound like you have to completely 100% stat out every NPC you make.

That extra 2 points in Climb might be the difference between a good encounter and a lame one!

You don't need to stat out NPCs too much, even combat ones. Like, level 12 fighter? his BAB is equal to his level. Pick a weapon, give him +3 or so with it, maybe some other shit if you want to look up feats and stick him in medium or heavy armour, give them an enhancement bonus near most of the party have. 14str 12dex 14con 10wis, int and cha.
Done, fully combat capable NPC.

And that took longer for me to write down than make up.

I only ever stat out very big important NPCs, like a big villain or such.
And even that I don't always do.
Oi, Elowin, I need your character sheet. Also get on skype we're ripping on the Neverwinter game you'll enjoy that

The only problem I have with Eclipse Phase's world is that it would be totally overwhelming if I was plopped there suddenly.

My only problem is that psionics sucks.
It can only fuck around a bit with people's minds, no moving shit with your mind, no pyrokinesis, no walking on walls, and no accidentally exploding so hard a demon rips and tears its way into existance.

Well, we have masturbation.
sounds like a glorified choose your own adventure book.
That's basically what it is, but when one can't find a group to play with and no one wants anything to do with a newbie it doesn't leave me a lot of options. It's something at least.

...Umm... Care to elaborate? Or perhaps save my mind and not?
I don't think I should go too deep into Eclipse Phase.
