Do it str8 up neverwinter style, introduce a plague or some kind of quarantine that will keep them pidgeon holed until they have a good reason to leave. Not only will YOU be ready to expand on the world by then, but now they'll be more interested due to it being such a looming thing in the past
Good idea, but be prepared for the ebola jokes. Because they will happen.
Good idea, but be prepared for the ebola jokes. Because they will happen.
Remember kids: African water in Shadowrun gives you Ebola+ no matter how well you cleaned it.
Plagues are arguably worse in urban settlements, however. Unless they have magical assistance or such advanced technologies as bathing, quarantines, and the dreaded sewage drain, in which case yeah it's best to rent a room and wait it out.
many generic fantasy settings have all these things so it's probably fine
At a security check point? Probably not the best idea.
well, you know if you leave no witnesses, it's like it never even happened!
What did I learn from DnD this weekend? Well, I learned that he who holds the almighty chair leg is ALWAYS in charge, no questions asked. This also means that he who holds the chair leg is always the next to die. Always. Being the chair-leg bearer is hard work, but it is of VITAL importance that the chair leg makes it out of that dungeon. It's not about saving the civilians anymore. It's about saving the chair leg.
Been thinking of running a one-shot game of Technoir (http://technoirrpg.com/) in about 2.5 hours (that's 12 PM GMT and... 8 PM EDT, I think), any takers? So far I've got one, maybe two people, but I haven't ran anything in a while and I'm jonesin' for that rpg action, man shoot me a steam message/invite/w/e if you're interested, link's on the left
My friend is trying to come up with a story in D&D and none of us have done something like this before. Any advice on making a good story?
Made my GM cry this session, he was putting us up against a bunch of trolls hurling rocks from a guard tower, which would normally be a pretty tough fight, but my alchemist got the ability to fly last session from leveling. So basically the melee guys drew attention while I circled around like a gunship hurling firebombs and puking spiders on the trolls.
Did you at least yell "GET SOME!" while doing so?
I was too busy vomiting spiders and chugging potions to say much.

So me and some friends started a DnD Next campaign yesterday. I love that first conversation in a campaign where it's really awkward because nobody knows how they want their character to sound. It ended up being broken by people trying an Ale I brew. Thing is, though, that my character spent a good chunk of is life in the wilderness as a hermit getting totally swole. He also partied with Orcs and learned how to brew from them. So when the human and dragonborn drank some, their throats burned. The half-orc druid, then came over and gave them berries to soothe their throats, but it came off as really creepy because we all imagined the situation where the half-orc magic man in the corner walks up to you and says 'Heey... Want some berries?" [editline]26th October 2014[/editline] [sp]Also one of our tokens is a picture of George Costanza[/sp]

My current campaign is based off of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Pt. 1 and it's hilarious
My Arbites has taken two shots with his sniper rifle total. One did 13 damage, and the second did 14 triggering Righteous Fury. From about 4 metres away. I'm literally a kiddy noscoper. Edit: We're investigating a cherub factory there's a gigantic tank full of dead babies dispensing them into crates what the fuck Edit 2: Shot three, 27 damage. Errybody getting rekt.

also, 10 degrees of success is an automatic crit i have crit against a tyrannofex twice and basically ruined both of its forelegs [editline]26th October 2014[/editline] with a long las at about 350m
also, 10 degrees of success is an automatic crit i have crit against a tyrannofex twice and basically ruined both of its forelegs [editline]26th October 2014[/editline] with a long las at about 350m
How do you have ten degrees of success? Like... the modifier would have to be +60 or some crazy number.
tyrannofex is +40 due to size, i have +10 from aim, +10 from accurate quality, +5 from comrade, +5 from custom grip and i rolled a 2 (BS52) therefore gg tyrannofex, i blew a hole through its right foreleg
If you're using a weapon with the accurate quality, you really should aim. [t]http://puu.sh/crUMn/87a56f667f.jpg[/t]
how do you think I did 27 damage
so today in Traveller, my players stole a corgi, doubled the size of their crew in a single job, got paid, watched the WWE production of Hamlet: Resurrection (with robots), and then got hired to steal the Hope Diamond a good session
My DM isn't allowing character traits (It's a pathfinder game) and his reasoning is "they're too complex" It slightly angers me
My DM isn't allowing character traits (It's a pathfinder game) and his reasoning is "they're too complex" It slightly angers me
The game my group plays is AD&D first edition, with a lot of things stripped out for simplicity. There is no movement or anything. No psionics (yet, we're still new, our DM is easing us into some of the more advanced rules), no food, etc. because he views them as complex, tedious, and/or boring.

Think that but with more metal gear rising
anybody know a good website for miniatures that isn't Reaper?
You tried to stop it, remember? We cheated.
It needs to be banished to the mirror realm.

It's D&D, not XCOM. Can't we just stick to magic?
