im at work, that's how it works for me right now. every thing is blocked, and it appears you have fixed it so. It all works out, dosnt it.
The picture in itself is a paradox, then!
so stage 1 of my ridiculously stupid shadowrun plan is complete!
we made it to the submarine, after having gotten through a jet-fighter dogfight being chased by a bunch of drones (solved by rolling down a window and having the mages and the dude with the rocket launcher fire out the back), got in our power-armored dive suits, fought through a ton of our counterparts around the thing (including one guy who popped out of his super suit in a wetsuit and stabbed my decker with a drill), mages onboard the sub summoned a ton of fire spirits (which one of our mages hijacked) and then we broke through the exterior airlock while taking fire from a ton of minigun turrets just in time to stumble onto the floor and see a turret drop down from the ceiling as the session ended
at least nobody is dead, so far

youre doing it wrong
youre doing it wrong
we still have to take the thing from it's crew
and enchant the nukes
and not get sunk by the japanese while doing that
it is honestly beyond my most optimistic predictions that we can get through this without fatalities/burned edge
youre doing it wrong
I am at 8/9 physical and 10/11 stun damage, with only 2 overflow boxes. Only survived because magical healing.

*something about them throwing someone out of the jet fighter*
[editline]1st December 2014[/editline]
seriously tho a full retard cyberpunk campaign isn't complete without a senseless death or three
We've already had one.
It was me, two sessions ago, when I got pureed by robots.
(I chose not to burn edge because I kind of wanted to reroll anyways plus our GM has a track record that leads me to believe I would have burned edge only to still die immediately anyways due to being fucking pureed by robots.)

I do not confirm nor deny my track record as such, though I would like to say that everyone else in that robo-blender had significantly better armor than you did, and were not standing in the exact middle of the room.
On a different note I am having a lot of fun in numenera playing my hammer and shield wielding old man. Managed to only get hit twice so far... but relying on really high speed defence with no armor makes it friggin hurt when you do get hit.
Speaking of which Rats is quite likely to die in that game as well, which I am not GM'ing. I think you just have bad luck... and that you enjoy poking things a tad too much ;)

I wasn't even in the middle of the room, I was in the corner if I remember right.
Also yeah Numenera I'm probably fucked b/c fucking tar skeletons.
Pretty sure you were in the exact middle
Of course, irrelevant now that you are all over the room (until it blew up)
Also, posted the full story in the 40k thread, but we blew up 5 frigates in a single round in rogue trader last night (3 of them from a single shot) which was something

i think you misunderstand how burning edge works
it means some coincidence happens that makes you avoid death, not that you magically just survive
aka in this situation the blender might have malfunctioned for instance

I didn't burn edge for that because I'd been wanting to reroll the character anyways.

then i don't understand what this conversation is even about

The lethality of Kilakan's games/how often I specifically seem to get targeted by the super deadly things.
I even have a dice pool of 20 for resisting damage in Shadowrun, but I'm the only person who actually took damage from the giant water-mech things we fought last session.
[editline]2nd December 2014[/editline]
Or at least, damage past the buffer of 20 we were given for the whole thing.
And it got far enough that I actually went into Overflow until one of the other mages got over to me and healed me, and either way I'm now 1 point of damage in either track from being unconscious and I can't be healed anymore.
Does anyone have any advice for a first time DM? I managed to get a group of friends to be willing to play the 5E starter edition but I have no idea how to run combat verbally and I'm really nervous that I'll screw it up and turn them off from dnd.

It helps to have some kind of map of the battle, even if you aren't using grid based stuff, to figure out where people are and how they are positioned.

Just roll with it, and if the players come up with an idea that's better than the one you had prepared go with that instead.
So I DMed my first game. Didn't last too long because I just wanted to introduce the game to my friends before we all headed home for the night.
So far, however, the campaign is going okay for my first time; nothing crazy is going on yet. The players are doing fine, following the guiding hand of NPCs who say "well I heard some stuff is happening at ___..."
Our former DM rolled up a character for it. His name is Chuck Chang, a monk. Chuck Norris mixed with some Asian karate guy I can't remember the name of. He talks in the most racist voice and squints throughout the entire game. He pulls the characters around in a cart with a bit in his mouth, and is for some reason obsessed with whores.

Keep it rad as all hell. I've not played DnD and I know it benefits from specifics and is quite reliant on a combat map, I imagine one would be in the starter edition would include something of a sort, but grid paper would work fine.
That being said, keep it fast and loose. Nothing kills the mood of any session quite like "I know there's a rule for this...somewhere" while someone cracks open a book to find a specific rule for something you could just roll a generic test for. The players are the heroes and it pays to let them describe their actions, even if they're just hitting a Goblin for Eight damage you can bet that that powerful strike has left the Goblinoid with a look of fear in his eyes.

I know this is a little late but you're using nukes in shadowrun and attempting to enchant them? Doesn't that REALLY fuck up big time? I thought nuclear reactions reacted really fucky to magic.

It's more that magic reacts really fucky to nuclear reactions. Toxic magic and all that.
remember kids dont do toxic magic it's really bad and not good srsly even blood magic is less bad

It's not magic it's antimagic so maybe it'll work really well?
I really don't know
we're so far off the existing fluff and the world is so fucked that something this stupid and insane was honestly the only way we thought we could start fixing things
By we I mean myself, because I'm the one who keeps coming up with the dumb plans the whole party agrees with
which is bad because my plans, as evidenced by this one, are awful

As the resident blood mage that is also housing a powerful anti-magic void spirit, I can tell you that toxic magic and insect magic are still worse.
Looking for players for a D&D 5E game. Games will be during weekdays after 6PM EST. I need at least 2, and would prefer 3 players. Games will be held on Roll20, and we will probably be using skype for OOC.
Pop me a PM if you are interested.
Speaking of mages, does anyone want to join a Mage the Awakening game? We need 1 more (or 2 at most) players, best timezone would be in the GMT+0 region, games on fridays.
PM if interested.
Still need players for this.
