a guide on how to abuse the only war system (after spending stupid points and spending luck)
be sharpshooter
attain talents:
spotter (passive aim action from comrade)
pinpoint guidance (half action, make most single shot weapons have accurate quality for next shot)
marksman (no long/extreme range penalties)
mighty shot (+half BS bonus to damage)
las weapon expertise (-5 to enemy dodge per DoS up to -30)
las weapon mastery (+half DoS to damage)
eye of vengeance (spend fate to add DoS as pen and damage)
optional: ranged weapon mastery (free aim action and reroll damage)
acquire lascannon and equip with suspensors (always braced)
now we are ready to rip things
with a BS of 57 (what i have) and a maximum of +60 from bonuses, the max DoS bonus is 11
lascannon has base of 5d10+10 damage, pen 10
add marksman, can snipe at 1.2km with no penalties
use pinpoint guidance to give lascannon accurate quality WHICH GIVES +2D10
use spotter/ranged weapon mastery to get a free aim action
mighty shot adds 2 damage
las weapon mastery adds 5 damage
eye of vengeance adds ELEVEN DAMAGE AND ELEVEN PEN
total damage?
7d10+28, pen 21
rip in fucking rip
Good luck surviving that long. High calibre/highly flashy sniper fire leads to artillery being called in.
Can I play a low intelligence, high wisdom and charisma fellow named Forrest?
that'd be one note as hell imo
Let's just jump to the logical endpoint - the only character you can play is a hippie protesting the war, and you can use no weapon more powerful than a handheld sign.
I'm sure you'll find a way to wreak some havoc with that, but that should at least make it a challenge.
challenge accepted
actually who am i kidding that would only make it easier
INTEREST CHECK

I've been thinking of running a Vietnam era RPG over the Christmas break (and maybe beyond, if it goes really well, but that's to be decided). I already asked a few regulars over Steam, but I'm posting here too 'cause why not. If you're up, hit me up on Steam, shoot me a PM, answer to this post, whatever.
We'd be probably using Grunt RPG as the system. As for when exactly it'd be happening, well, for me the break starts on the 23rd, so definitely not before that - let me know when it'd be convenient for you and we'll try to work something out that works for all of us. I'm from Europe, some of the people I've got on board are from the US, so I'm used to time zone fuckery.
lets do it bb

I'd be down for it. Anticipating something along the lines of Apocalypse Now mashed up with M.A.S.H.
so I made a Steam group to make getting everyone together and shit easier:

gon' edit that into the interest check post too
everyone who PM'd me or answered in this thread: if you're still interested, please join!

i've already survived that long, i have already acquired all of these talents. we're killing nids, they don't have artillery.

You gon' get overwhelmed by the horde/Ravener'd.
Or Biovores. Wheeeee!
do you want the kill count for our last mission?
there's a tyrannofex and a harridan in there
Soooo we've already got ~8 people, including a few 'maybe's, so I guess this is where I stop recruiting! Sorry if you really wanted to [del]horrifically die[/del] do some soldierin', but I just don't see myself managing a bigger group, even with a system as rules light as Grunt.
Punji traps everywhere. Turn this into Tunnel Rats, with Uv Eb Ol as the enemy General for a final boss.

You should be honored that the enemy is so terrified of your abilities they're willing to waste valuable resources like artillery on you.
So one of our rogue traders just got killed in a duel by accident (that was part of a plot to save another player from a roundabout plan to save the battlecruiser we freed from a space hulk from a super-intelligent ork) because he needed to get the other guy away from the bridge while he teleported in explosives
originally, he had intended to borrow the other teleporter on the guy's ship (so they could tele in the explosives with one and tele out themselves simultaneously) but because he couldn't explain this plan due to the second trader's exact relationship with the orks being unknown, so the he denied the first, and then when the guy showed up to the dinner with the ork (it's a very long story) he had to get him away from the bridge on the pretense of a duel
of course, the second guy thinks he's making an attempt on his life, and goes fucking heavy, which turns out to be entirely unnecessary when he rolls a righteous fury hit with his laspistol and blows a hole straight through trader #1's chest right as the explosives hit (and because these orks had some kind of weird hivemind, killing their leader caused the rest to dissolve into goo)
and trader #1's crew immediately runs off, leaving myself and trader #2 there in all kinds of confusion
but yea, we finished saving the space hulk. Total gain, one battlecruiser, one gigantic manufactorum-troopship (which is honestly more of a mobile space station than a ship), tons and tons of xenotech loot, and uncountable loads of priceless artifacts (it turns out the battlecruiser was basically a treasure ship, and the last coordinates in it's cogitator's led us straight to the cache where they stored it all, so we basically loaded up on several millennia worth of accumulated loot)
in sum, fun and profit was had by all
So I'm still looking for one player for a 5E game, though I could take two. The game is held on fridays at 7PM EST, PM me if you are interested.

You should also be very very dead!
so we did almost an entire dungeon in one 6-hour session in PF last night
allegedly we were supposed to have been taking breaks back to the surface to recover between the fights but we just sort of plowed through everything in our way, which by the end was something like 7 or 8 little fey buggers of various sorts, one encounter with an ugly motherfucker who slapped the paladin for being prettier than him before the cleric cast remove curse and the guy's charisma popped up like 10 points and he left us alone, a frost-spitting invisible fey-troll thing, and finally the final boss fight which was three of these viny elf things with all kinds of nasty abilities and then a big fey plant queen thing
said final battle was basically an exercise in 'how much difficult terrain can we put down before the game becomes unplayable' and the answer was quite a lot, between falling rocks and ice slicks and then vines that attacked anyone who moved through them
also there was this annoying stone statue chick who hypnotized the entire party except the out-of-spells wizard and then sucked her blood until we snapped out of it and then wrestled her to death
also the paladin touched a golden orb and got possessed by a demon
all in all it was a good session

well your character's already planned out and all :v figured that since /most/ people are on it's gonna be ok
Anybody here familiar with D&D 5e rules? The DMG is out and it states that a Thief's Fast Hands ability can't Use an Object as a bonus action if the item has to be activated first. This covers a lot of magical items like scrolls and shit, but it doesn't say anything about not being able to pop a potion as a bonus action.

Presumably(read: my interpretation), since you don't have to activate a potion in any special way, you could just drink it and be done with it. So yeah, pop a potion as a bonus action.
Scrolls and shit though you gotta read a special word and/or make a special gesture to activate.

Don't forget, we also played dodgeball with that golden orb while it still had the paladin's soul inside it.
It worked out, though, because the demon tried to destroy it and ended up banishing himself.
So I'm trying to set up a zombie survival game with All Flesh Must Be Eaten. However, I'm having difficulty understanding some of the rules. Of course, I haven't thoroughly read the whole guide yet (or tested it), but I've tried to read through important aspects first (like combat, character creation, how to design zombies, etc.).
A big problem I'm running into right now, however... I can't figure out how in the world combat works. I just can't find it in the guide. I MIGHT be blind (totally possible), but its eluding me.
Can anyone with any AFMBE experience give me a brief rundown? Assuming any of you have played it.
Laptop kaputted for a good long while, so I watched old Counter Monkey eipisodes on my 3DS while I had it fixed so now I'm really in the mood for some roleplaying.
I just got the D&D Starter Kit from my brother for Christmas.
Which makes me feel bad, because the only thing I actually need from it was the dice. I have everything else available to me (the adventure, the rulebook, etc).
I'll have to find some use for it.

Give it to the poor, unprivileged tabletop enthusiasts unable to afford the books/actually find a place selling the damn things.
Take the dice first though.

tell him he's an uncultured plebian
then give him the D&D Starter Kit
Does anyone play D&D on Tabletop Simulator? Got it as a gift for Christmas.

I did one game. Was kinda fun, though a bit hard to lay down maps and stuff (though thats probably because all the ones I make are hand drawn with pencil).
