Just played an extremely improv game of dnd. We used a pretty simple playersheet with just some simple mechanics. I was an elephant who could convince anyone to do just about anything. I convinced a shopkeeper I was his long-deceased mother and went like 15 turns (While my team was off doing other things) going around with him just to be able to take items from him. I'm really new to DnD and it's really fun, sucks there's no places nearby :(
The leader and the face are not necessarily the same thing. The charisma player can be like, I don't know, The Mouth of Sauron to use an evil example.
Good point. Though these guys generally have lumped the two. I'll see about correcting that then. Though the monk is already going to take the bard's place as leader and face probably.
Don't think you can actually get firearms built into your skull in SR, but you can get a cutting laser in your eye, or a dart gun put in your mouth.
Oh you can, don't you worry, i've done the math.
So Gleb explained a bit of Shadowrun's setting to me. Apparently a Dragon was once voted as the president and then somehow got assassinated. And puberty has a chance to turn you into a metahuman. And I thought kids were trolls BEFORE they hit puberty.

Nah, you're born metahuman, but magic usually kicks in around puberty, while latent metagenetics like SURGE and dracomorphisis (rrerr) is usually influenced by background mana, but does whatever it feels like.
That's not entirely accurate. Any one of the metahuman species give birth to their own kind, so trolls give birth to trolls and dwarves give birth to dwarves. If crossbreeding is involved, the child is almost always determined by the female parent. Human offspring, specifically, has a tiny chance of becoming any other kind of metahuman. In the case of becoming a dwarf or an elf, 99% of the time they are born as one, whereas with trolls and orcs, 99% of the time they turn into one during puberty. The reason this is the case is pretty simply illustrated by the few times where, due to some freak magical bullshit, a human does end up giving birth to a troll, which is fatal about 99% of the time.
I want to use all the stuff in run faster and make a SURGEd character who has a frog tongue he uses to steal things
Based on a conversation I recently had with a friend: Are there any RPGs where the attributes are a logarithmic scale? As in, an increase of four strength points means that your strength is doubled?
Based on a conversation I recently had with a friend: Are there any RPGs where the attributes are a logarithmic scale? And if it exists, I sure don't know about it.
All hail Godog Also a CP2020 game sounds awesome

i dont want to play childporn2020 pls no shadowrun is better
i dont want to play childporn2020 pls no shadowrun is better
you just had a bad experience with cyberpunk because we killed you on the first session and made you stick around. I assure you we were having a lot of fun before you joined.
i dont want to play childporn2020 pls no shadowrun is better
Does Shadowrun have a Rocker class? Thought so.

Also if he hadn't started throwing grenades around in a nightclub, maybe someone wouldn't be pissed enough to throw him out of an AV food for thought
Does Shadowrun have a Rocker class? Thought so.
Shadowrun doesn't have classes because it is superior. You can play as a Rocker though.
I'd be tempted to try Cyberpunk 2020 if its horrendously outdated hacking system was updated. I love Shadowrun but once in a while I would like to try a "pure" cyberpunk game. No pixie marines, no elf hackers, no troll technomancers. Just good ol'chrome and dystopia in Night City.
Shadowrun doesn't have classes because it is superior. You can play as a Rocker though.
Cyberpunk has Mr Studd Sexual Implants, though. And a backstory generator broken down to every year of your character's life after the 16th and if you don't think that's the tightest shit then get out of my face.
I'm sorry you're so stunted in the imaginatrix that you can't come up with your own interesting background.
I prefer to keep my characters' backstories brief and vague, to provide enough space for the character to grow from the adventures they go through. Alternatively, I actually -like- it when the system, so to say, "hands me" a character as-is, especially if it's the kind I wouldn't play on my own. I appreciate a challenge outside my comfort zone. True, Cyberpunk is a bit of a mess, but it is a hilariously 80s old-fashioned mess of 2kool4skool stuff and already outdated technology predictions and I love it.

Breast Implants with Capacity 2... I know what my next character is gonna be! [editline]3rd January 2015[/editline] Damn, I grossly misread that... back to the drawing board.
They take up capacity on a cybertorso actually, they don't have space for mods themselves.
They take up capacity on a cybertorso actually, they don't have space for mods themselves.
nothings stopping you from putting guns in your cybertorso whose barrels extend from your breasts
They take up capacity on a cybertorso actually, they don't have space for mods themselves.
Why... if you're getting a cybertorso, would you have to get breast implants. Couldn't you just ask for big boobs in the first place? I don't...
Why... if you're getting a cybertorso, would you have to get breast implants. Couldn't you just ask for big boobs in the first place? I don't...
uhh maybe if you want literal metal boobs
Why... if you're getting a cybertorso, would you have to get breast implants. Couldn't you just ask for big boobs in the first place? I don't...
It's not just a boob job, they're adjustable.
That didn't have anything to do with why he threw me out of the AV tho m8 Also any game where you have roughly 10% chance of blowing yourself up every time you throw a grenade no matter how skilled you are probably not that great food for thought [editline]3rd January 2015[/editline] you killed my automerge how dare you
where'd you get that 10% thing? genuinely curious You make an Athletics skill check, just like a regular attack, with the weapon range determined by your body type x10, if you miss you then roll on this table grenades' explosion range is 5m, so if you're at least 15m from the target, you're never going to blow yourself up, unless of course you score a crit failure and then you roll an 8,9 or 10 (1-4 is 'you just fail', 5-7 is 'minor failure' so I'd just have you whiff the throw and sprain your wrist or whatever, 8-10 is 'abysmal failure' so that could mean dropping a nade, and even then I'd only rule you actually drop it on your feet if you score a 10) so that's a 10% chance to score a critfail, then a 30% chance to blow yourself up if the GM's a 'by the book' type and 10% if they're not, which means it's either a 3% chance RAW, or a 1% chance if it was me GMing and I'd probably still give you another Athletics check to let you dive behind something, assuming that was an option that is. Seriously, as much as I like to joke about that AV thing, I feel pretty bad about letting it happen (and it did pretty transparently happen because the party was already tired of your shit, by the way), and I feel like I've learnt a lot since then (or at least enough to gently let you know you should cut that shit out instead of doing the worst possible thing). Don't blame the system for my fuckups. [editline]3rd January 2015[/editline]
What if I don't want the game to tell me how to roleplay my character, though?
The book explicitly tells you you can choose instead of roll or even just come up with shit on your own if you don't want to
Cyberpunk has Mr Studd Sexual Implants, though. And a backstory generator broken down to every year of your character's life after the 16th and if you don't think that's the tightest shit then get out of my face.
If I remember correctly Mekton Zeta did something similar with its background gen and I thought it was pretty neat.
Add a story that closely examines the perils and possiblities of transhumanism and basic human nature I'm right with you.
Transplant the city to Mars, add some intelligent octopi and AIs and we've suddenly got a rather suspiciously familiar setting :v:
