:words:
There's a 10% chance of critical failure no matter how good you are. Slightly less chance of actually blowing yourself up but w/e. Pretty shit either way. And I don't really care at all about that, tbh. It's so fucking long ago and I was going to leave that game anyway. point is Shadowrun > Cyberpunk 2020 even if you don't like cybered up trolls riding motorcycles with chainsaws on them fighting against elves summoning up hydras from the metaplanes while centaurs with machineguns along with pixies throwing tranquilizer darts as javelins ride into the fray (how can't you) It's just better mechanically. Waaaaaay better.

(and critfails don't actually /count/ as critfails half the time, so it's really a 5% chance) But yeah, CP2020 is a weird, sometimes lumbering beast of a game with an overabundance of skills, and Shadowrun is rad as fuck, but I guess we'll have to agree to disagree here; I took a look at SR's rules and Cyberpunk's crunchiness just appeals to me way more. SR seems to be stuck in that weird limbo when it wants to be rules-lite but doesn't quite go all the way

And yeah there's a reason there are very few games which use a single d10 for their basic rolls.
If you don't like a rule change it? Doesn't make sense to let a single ruling ruin a whole game for you unless you're super petty or whatever.
lol SR isn't even remotely rules-lite what are you talking about
OK, yeah, rules lite was a really dumb expression to use, but from what I remember it's definitely way less realistic and complicated than 2020 They're both fine games with some shortcomings, let's leave it at that.
If you don't like a rule change it? Shadowrun is a lot more in-depth. You could argue that it's less realistic simply due to having literal magic, but that's about it. but sure whatever.
Can I officially state, for the record, that the AV incident was not due in any part to Elowin becoming a pain in the ass or Ciaster being a lousy GM. It was because my character was a horrifically edgy edgemeister who could cut steel with his edge, and Elowin's Evil Dead Ash character critfailed a roll to toss a grenade and it blew up in my guy's face, singeing his beautiful hair. Entropy would not stand for that. So Ash got the boot. [editline]3rd January 2015[/editline] No hard feelings elly welly you just don't fuck with Entropy and get away with it. The two were getting along so well before that, too :c [editline]3rd January 2015[/editline]
If I remember correctly Mekton Zeta did something similar with its background gen and I thought it was pretty neat.
Mekton is almost exactly the same system as Cyberpunk2020, but with rules for mechas added in. I think if you wanted you could take the rules for mechas from Mekton, put them into a CP game, and it would work literally the exact same. Our Mekton game literally used CP2020 character sheets because we couldn't find any nice editable ones for Mekton.
If I remember correctly Mekton Zeta did something similar with its background gen and I thought it was pretty neat.
Mekton's lifepath was more of 'This is the history of your family, you have friends/contacts in (insert organization such as: military, government, criminal network, etc), and x group wants you dead for y reason' Which gives you a basic backstory, and a motivation to how you ended up fighting whatever group you're fighting :v: [editline]3rd January 2015[/editline]
Can I officially state, for the record, that the AV incident was not due in any part to Elowin becoming a pain in the ass or Ciaster being a lousy GM. [editline]3rd January 2015[/editline] Looking at it, I was wrong. The conversion guide for combining CyberPunk2020 and Mekton Zeta, is in the Mekton Zeta Plus rulebook, page 118 to be specific. I dont know if I like it, I converts 1 kill of damage, into 5d10. Which means that a weapon that could normally shred someone has a chance of just doing the damage of a pistol :v:
Transplant the city to Mars, add some intelligent octopi and AIs and we've suddenly got a rather suspiciously familiar setting :v:
Sounds too much like Macho Women With Guns, I agree.

Not like a robocop or a super special cop, just one of the generic mook cops that get gunned down in droves by cyberpunk protagonists. I realized that maybe not EVERY cyberpunk cop was a corrupt jerk who would sell his own mother for a quick buck, and by playing a completely generic character i ended up with the most unique and focused on character in the whole group.
I played a pretty mean sax tho
I still wanna play a Cyberpunk game where everyone is a variation of Rockerboy. Rockerboy nomads, Rockerboy Cops, Rockerboy Netrunners. It would focus on a band of Rockerboy rockerboys in a Post band (Short for post-new-neo-nu-new-neo-post-pop-grunge-punk-neo-nu wave-rock) who are trying to investigate the music industry after the find out that they used to be a ska band who's horn section seemed to have been retroactively erased from existance.
I was wondering if anyone lives in the OKC, Moore region of Oklahoma, I was hoping to start a 3-6 person D&d group, 5th edition at GameHQ on SW 89th & Western Ave in SW OKC. I was hoping someone would have the 5th edition set with them. PM me here for more info or questions. I was hoping to start Jan. 10 or 17

Yooo Chicagoland bros (Chicagbros?) where you at?
I guess since people are asking; Anyone in the NH USA area?
South NH/Vermont represent!

I agree wholeheartedly
There was one once. I played the dapperest troll.
There was one once. I played the dapperest troll.
There's been a few. [editline]4th January 2015[/editline] How about on Saturdays, around 19 GMT?
Suits me, literally any other time wouldn't, though. [editline]4th January 2015[/editline]
There was one once. I played the dapperest troll.
Was that the game where I blew up a hospital and pissed off the Johnson by burning down a building to clear it?

[editline]4th January 2015[/editline] Was that the game where I blew up a hospital and pissed off the Johnson by burning down a building to clear it?
Yep. Also the game where I played a pacifistic dickhole mage whose first and only action of note was beating the shit out of a bunch of drunk orcs in a bar because they served him a disgusting orcish drink. And the game where we all learned that flash-packs are awesome during chases.
Which game would you guys recommend, D&D 5th edition or Pathfinder? What are the pros and cons with both games?
Which game would you guys recommend, D&D 5th edition or Pathfinder? What are the pros and cons with both games?
5th edition is way simpler and thus easier to get into. Pathfinder is better in almost every other way.
Which game would you guys recommend, D&D 5th edition or Pathfinder? What are the pros and cons with both games?
D&D 5th Edition, pros: it isn't pathfinder
