Which game would you guys recommend, D&D 5th edition or Pathfinder? What are the pros and cons with both games?
Neither have pixies as playable in official suppliments so they're both as bad as each other.
Which game would you guys recommend, D&D 5th edition or Pathfinder? What are the pros and cons with both games?
Let me give you a less facetious answer. Pathfinder's pros is that it has five years of content behind it, so it's very customizeable in terms of character creation and settings. It also has the pfsrd, which helps wonders. It's good for people who like clear, set boundaries on what is and isn't allowed. And this is just a personal thing, but I love their new rules on cybertech, alien technology, etc. Paizo is also a fantastic company; their developers regularly interact with people on their forums, and their future products are directly based off of this interaction. Its cons is that it can get difficult to get into at first. Lots of math, lots of explaining, that kinda stuff. It's not for people who prefer a more math-lite, more narrative kind of game (although if this is anything to go by, we might just get that at some point). Hundreds of feats, which can be very intimidating for new players or for people who don't care for that level of customization. D&D 5th's pros are that it is significantly easier to get into. No labyrinthine rules, no obscene amounts of addition and subtraction, no hundreds of feats to pick from. This is THE game for people who do not like the more in-depth rules of Pathfinder and prefer a more lighter system. It's also very easy on the DM in terms of prep work. Its cons is that it is significantly younger than Pathfinder, and so as of yet it doesn't have as much content. There is also no support for PDF format or an Open Game License, although according to Wizards this will change within the year. My preference is Pathfinder, only because I've been playing it for so long that I know most of the rules front and back, and I think the firearms and science fiction technology stuff are awesome. But if all the elements I liked were ported into D&D 5th somehow, then I'd probably switch to 5th in a heartbeat as my go-to system for fantasy RPGs.
I'd totally be up for a Shadowrun game, count me in.
Is it possible to create Jetstream Sam in Shadowrun. Correction: Has someone already created Jetstream Sam in Shadowrun? Also does it have Nanomachines, [sp]son?[/sp]
Is it possible to create Jetstream Sam in Shadowrun. Correction: Has someone already created Jetstream Sam in Shadowrun? Also does it have Nanomachines, [sp]son?[/sp]
Yes Yes Maybe
Is it possible to create Jetstream Sam in Shadowrun. Correction: Has someone already created Jetstream Sam in Shadowrun? Also does it have Nanomachines, [sp]son?[/sp]
Shadowrun is more Deus Ex than Revengeance.
Are you anywhere near Manchester, and do you have / want a game?
Nowdays I live in VT, 2 hours away, but I do come back to visit parents/friends. I also have a group of friends who live around Manchester, who play a whole bunch of pnp stuff like ADHD riddled kids they are, so they might be interested to get another person in.

[editline]4th January 2015[/editline] But you have reasoning behind your opinions and I respect that
Today, in (presumably) the final session of Kilakan's Shadowrun game: Basically the group killed a lot of people on a sub, then the void/blood mage merged with the void spirit in his hand and supernova'd into the portal to the metaplane of Horrors in Denver. And then:
Somewhere, in the sky far above you a star winks out. Worlds are ended with his passing, and an entire swath of the night sky goes dark. A flash of black is all that the people of central north america would know before their souls are shredded and removed. Some days later you would land back on the shores of a continent sized desert. Seattle would be one of the few surviving cities, as well as some other coastal towns. Anyone attempting to enter the desert would find themselves lost in a world without sun. The soul being in that world is a man made of darkness, who sits at the top of a ruined throne and looks out over the fast wastes filled with the solitary spirits that cling to existence in what is the absence of everything. The entity causing a decay of the world would leave, and many thousands of years later life would begin sprouting once more. At the end of your generation, magic itself would begin to die away and the advent of 6th world comes to an end. A short and weak thing, ended far before its time. It would be very long before the signs of mana would start coming back to the blasted world.
After that it was just a bunch of character-specific epilogues. [editline]4th January 2015[/editline] Also, as per every Kila game, I died before any of the really exciting stuff happened.
I am become Void, ending all things. I should say myself that merging with a void spirit and becoming a god of entropy and anti-existence was quite successful. I win. :v:
Seems that everyone in Elowin's game so far is making a SURGE'd character.
Idk if there's any room left in the Shadowrun game but I might be interested in joining. What kinda game styles do you guys play? Serious? Semi-serious? Comedic? Gonzo style? Gritty?
Seems that everyone in Elowin's game so far is making a SURGE'd character.
awful
