What kinda game styles do you guys play? Serious? Semi-serious? Comedic? Gonzo style? Gritty?
Silly as hell in my experience.

Smegging brilliant.

Those shocking dags get on my slagging wires.
So, getting to know the Dark Heresy system for a game of Adeptus Evangelion I'll be running shortly, I did some combat testing with a Vassal 40k buddy of mine, holy crap I love it. Sprinting through city blocks, taking cover behind buildings to avoid certain death, picking up makeshift weapons on the fly (cars, pieces of buildings, etc). While I will always prefer Mekton Zeta+ for a mech building system, this is perfect for the fast paced style combat that I loved in Evangelion.
All we need is a good Super Sentai system (there was a beta one early, but a lot of it was 'Lol, we'll finish this later' when I saw it). And I'll have a perfect portfolio of /m/ related RPGs and Wargames to play :v:

So far it's best described as a freakshow.
Most likely, not as silly as you'd expect, but not as serious as you'd hope.

Princess: The Hopeful, Mutants & Masterminds, or Magical Burst or w/e that one that was being played a while back was called would probably work.

Magical burst is mostly about the powers, and combat is simple. Not that that's a bad thing, and from my experience with it, I think it can be used rather well.
However, I'd love something with customizable over the top finishers, team attacks, and Henshins. Maybe some sort of basic mecha system in place (For Zoids & shit), and less of a focus on things like relationships, strain from magic and it's effect on the environment, because if there was magic/some sort of supernatural forces in place, they wouldn't be the focus, kickass people in color coded suits with strange weapons and strange attack names would be :v:
I'm completely up for that Shadowrun game if there's still an open slot; though I have no clue how to play it.

I take it you're only after people who've played shadowrun before? Or atleast have any grasp of the rules.

Not at all, as long as you're willing to learn.

dai and I might be running an AdEva campaign at some point in the future and I'm super stoked to try it.
It'll be nice not having to DM.
it's gonna be terrifying having to DM
however the two of us have posited to the group that we use roll20 or something to carry out the RP side of things. Doing in-person stuff tends to burn out the group because it's always a large gathering and there's just so many people sitting around waiting their turn or just letting others drive a conversation, it'd be nice to wittle it down to a small group who can take a bit more time to sort stuff out and be in character.

Well, in-person isn't that bad when you treat it like a party while you are going to have to wait a while for your turn. Pizzas, snack food, and conversation keep it from being boring off-turn, and the game keeps you invested when you get to do things. On the other hand, small groups can be good for actually getting some nice RP going so that's good too, it just means they have to be a hell of a lot more careful than a larger group does because they have that many fewer people backing them up.
The problem is that trying to get a few of the people in our group to RP properly is like pulling teeth. We're thinking that it might be easier for people to RP through text rather than vocalizing it. Anxiety and all that.

My group has always functioned on an "RP through text, OOC through vocal" basis, and it's very functional. It's just easier to write a story than it is to act in one. Plus, you don't have people speaking over each other, and anyone who went to take a piss or something can come back and just skim the chat without needing to break the game flow to catch up on what they missed (unless they're lazy incompetent asshats who need to be spoonfed and don't like to read). And on top of all that, logs are far easier to record and flip through.

that's exactly how I figured it'd work out. I'll be the first to admit that I absolutely can't form out a character if I'm speaking for it at a table with people waiting for me to wrack my brain, but you give me a minute to think out something in text and I can really pull it off. Helps that the speech being in text is just more intuitive (to me) to associate it with a character rather than the person playing it. Seems to be similar for most of the group too, as half of them are flat out new to doing this stuff. The ones that are experienced do well, though our friend Bob is just... himself. In a good way.
Since I fancy myself quite a thesbian I'd prefer roleplaying in person than through text. I'd kind of take me out of the game to talk the things I'm doing but write the things I'm talking.

Still works
I prefer in-person roleplaying, since I like directly socializing with folks, and as GM I like to emphasize stuff with gestures, dramatic eye contact, and so on. But I do know the merits of text-based roleplaying. Namely, if I played as a graceful elf brunette, it would be a bit more believable in text as opposed to doing so from the perspective of a large, ungainly scraggly man with a deep voice that makes all nearby birds scatter in terror.

you could just make the voice canon, in essence a Dr Girlfriend kinda thing
