How do you come up with encounter ideas besides the obvious combat or trap encounters? Other than a stealth-oriented dungeon I'm saving for when they hit second level, I can't really come up with anything.
Or is it even a problem? Maybe I'm just being paranoid, because my players seem to be enjoying the "kill everything and avoid the traps" dungeons. Nobody's complained yet. But I do want to throw something else at them, I just can't think of what.

(I actually have that, just didnt bother to write it down)
I think what adds to that are the "speed" rounds, where some people have higher movement speeds. I hate that mechanic so much.
The only people that hate speed mods are those that don't have them.

I have a mental speed mod of +3 because my computational algorithims are much more efficient than your decaying meat brains.

Doesn't sound sketchy at all.
EP's fun and all, but we've all agreed that the combat system is kind of clunky at times.
Could be a problem but it probably won't really be noticeable with my group. The two of us who usually take turns DMing games tend to ignore rules sometimes just to keep things flowing smoothly. I'd try to make an Eclipse Phase campaign into more than our usual "kill monsters, move to next area, kill more monsters, get treasure" crap anyways. EP seems to support non-combat stuff a fair bit better than a lot of games. (As in actually having rules for it, things like hacking seem fairly in-depth.)

if it's not written down it's not on your char, and you admitted to not having it last session :v:
So I'm trying to think of a way for my players to meet other than "Fixer calls you with job" and so far I have an elaborate train jacking planned out. They all just so happen to be on the same train when a bunch of terrorists take it over and plant bombs so when it reaches the final stop it'll explode and blow up the station or whatever. They'll have to work together to stop the terrorists from blowing them up, or escape the moving train. I don't know what I'm doing, and this could be completely retarded.
Just finished my game, and I think it went pretty well. The players immediately beat the shit out of the terrorists in their car and took their guns. Then the hacker hacked the train and turned on the breaks, so the train would stop and they could get out. Unfortunately the doors only open when the guy at the front opens them, so even though the train had stopped they couldn't get out. So, the other 3 guys moved up to the next car and beat the shit out of the guys in there. Now the hacker starts using sprites and shit and I had no clue dafuq was going on, so I just made shit up. The terrorists had a hacker in the front car that was directly opposing him, but he sucked ass at hacking apparently so they opened the doors. As the hacker was about to get off the train the speakers on the train turned on and the terrorist leader started speaking. First they hear a loud slap as he bitch slaps the hacker for being so inept, and then he announces that if they leave the train he will blow up the bomb. "Whatevs" is pretty much all I got out of the hacker as he hopped out and ran off. As he was running away he detached the front train car and turned on the engine full blast, so the other hacker and the leader flew down the track at 300mph away from the players.
While he's doing that the other 3 dudes run up through the cars, one of them much faster than the others because he actually has the Run skill. The mage of the party rolls a 1 on his single die and slips on some blood, faceplanting into the floor. So the fastest character, a martial arts expert, runs into the next car that has 4 guys waiting for him aiming at the door. They all fire at him as soon as he enters, but he dodges all the bullets like a boss and proceeds to kick a guy in the face so hard that he knocked out half his teeth, and nearly killed him. The mage had casted improved reflexes on him earlier, so he still has 2 more turns before the terrorists can act again. He one shots 2 of the 3 other guys in the room. The other player who hadn't fallen finally arrives in the car, and points his gun at the remaining terrorist telling him to drop his gun. He shouted "OKAY OKAY JUST DON'T KICK ME" as he threw his gun to the floor. They asked him about the bomb, and he told them it wasn't even armed. The driver of the group uses an edge point and rolls logic to see if the bomb is actually not armed, and he succeeds in figuring out that the bomb really isn't armed. The hacker calls up one of his contacts and gets a helicopter to come out and pick them up. While they're waiting the driver, martial arts guy, and mage proceed to rob all the tied up passengers blind, and then run off to the meeting point. While they're walking I inform them of a news story that just popped up on the driver's commlink (he's a media junkie) about a rogue train engine that flew into a train station at 300mph and plowed into the back of a stopped train.

I never said that, and if I did, I was just nodding and agreeing. It costed like 100 credits, why wouldn't I have that? Got it for the hearing one too. If you guys want me to pay for it again, I could, just wouldn't be happy about it.
And I didn't think it reasonable to have a speed mod of three on my guy who wasn't meant to be the bruiser.
3.5 was incredibly broken with mounted combat if you had some of the more obscure books that added feats. I once made a character that did 6x damage per mounted charge, which doubled if you got a crit, and 4x damage per charge on foot (without a charging weapon). He didn't get used much before I put him back into my toy box.
Doesn't seem like PF can be broken so easily though; thankfully I suppose.
anything is broken if you count obscure supplement books
anything is broken if you count obscure supplement books
I don't know, many of them (in PF) just have worthless garbage in terms of empowering a character. I'm working with about 2000 feats and the vast majority of them are things I would never bother picking over the standard ones; they just don't add enough to be worth it, or are incredibly circumstantial (like you only get to use it in a specific town circumstantial). They're good for fluff though.
Same thing with traits for that matter, however I do find the abundance of '+1 to X-Skill and becomes a class skill' traits to be handy in making concept characters. Creature Handler Monk go!

DM another game right after your Sunday game so I can have a fill that day with three TRPGs.
If anyone else is free on weeknights (GMT) I might be up for GMing something. At the moment I'm looking at Dark Heresy or AdEva (I have a load of AdEva stuff already prepared for a game that didn't happen) but considering this'd be my first attempt at GMing anything I'm really up for any suggestions regarding systems.
At the moment I'm tempted to say Wednesday, but that's a completely arbitrary choice.
I realise weekdays aren't ideal but my weekends are pretty much completely full.

If you're willing to deal with a beginner with tabletops and particularly Dark Heresy/AdEva, I'd love to join a game. I don't think I'm a terrible or slow learner and could learn what I can outside of sessions. I'm up for anything.
I'm pretty interested in Dark Heresy. Dunno what ADEva is but I'll try anything. ANYTHING..

Emotionally crippled teenagers in robots ft. christian iconography, body horror, sexual murder fantasies.
It's fun for the whole family.

My campaign's removed a lot of the "Oh japan" stuff. Aged up the pilots, less ghost vaginas.
big stompy mechs and gore
I'd be interested in DH too
like I mentioned in steam, CoC is another option ;)
Okay so if you'd be free round about now (same day and time) for a little bit of the old tabletop, then here's the systems we could try running. Feel free to rate which ones you'd be interested in so I know what to advertise and plan around.
Complete for short descriptions for those of you that don't know the system.
Agree for Pathfinder (Dungeons and Dragons is more like The Witcher, also better to play.)
Disagree for Dark Heresy (Warhammer 40k, the OTHER tabletop game. You will die.)
Funny for Paranoia (Fuck over everyone else in the most hilarious way possible. You will die.)
Winner for Shadowrun (Dungeons and Dragons is more like Ghost in the Shell)
Zing for Exalted (Dungeons and Dragons is more like Devil May Cry)
Informative for Call of Cthulhu (H.P. Lovecraft, the Tabletop Game. You will die.)
Friendly for Adeptus Evangelion (Dark Heresy, only full of mechs and crying.)

As for how they play, better ask elowin as apparently they've run just about everything ever.

Thatll be the first thing I get once we finish this mission. Ill ring in a favor and get it done.

I am interested, depending on time.
And availability. I am already in three games.

Currently the time would be round about now. I'm pretty flexible in that regard though, if another day or time would suit you better. Of course this'd also be up to the people that already said they're interested too.
[editline]8th May 2013[/editline]
Also, it looks like we're running Dark Heresy. The disagrees have spoken.

To be honest I I'm happy either way, I don't mind what game we play.

I should've made FATAL the friendly rating.

Could anyone that's run Dark Heresy recommend a good number of players for a session?

I wouldn't mind that time either, whatever works for everyone. Like the others said I'd be pleased either way.

I've seen a lot of stories that involved parties of five to even six people, but I could be wrong in that being a normality.
