I wouldn't mind that time either, whatever works for everyone. Like the others said I'd be pleased either way. [editline]8th May 2013[/editline] I've seen a lot of stories that involved parties of five to even six people, but I could be wrong in that being a normality.
I don't think you're wrong, five to six seems to be optimal, although really anything above three is playable. [editline]8th May 2013[/editline] Also, are you guys interested in a campaign or a one off? I'm not planning on playing tonight, I'm mostly planning this around the idea of weekly sessions. [editline]8th May 2013[/editline] Also counting the people that said they're interested already I think I might have enough players. Holy shit.
Could anyone that's run Dark Heresy recommend a good number of players for a session?
depends how experienced you are at managing players. If you have little to no experience, I would say four players, no more, no less. If you are experienced, anywhere between four and six players.

Yeah my first time running DH had five players. I had years of other tabletop experience but that's besides the point, 5 worked well as far as party capabilities went
I have no experience and five people said they're interested, so I think we've got our session size.
i believe in you admiral of rears
"Woah jesus shit 23 new posts I wonder what happened" "Oh wait I completely missed a whole conversation because I didn't check the thread when I woke up earlier." I still just in general want to try one of the sci-fi pnp games. Although AdEva is the one I know of that I have the least interest in because I haven't watched NGE.
Turns out DH is going to have six people, assuming no one drops out. help

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/200664283/deluxe-exalted-3rd-edition The Exalted 3rd Edition Kickstarter just opened up a few hours ago. It reached its highest stretch goal in a matter of hours- If you've got a couple spare bucks, and are interested in getting into a new game, I'd highly suggest backing it.

I used to read Keychain of Creation, a webcomic (now-dead, but still worth a read) set in that universe (although I'm not sure how closely it follows it), and I liked how it felt like a more unique universe. D&D always seemed like a common Tolkien knockoff, same as any number of fantasy stories. Good for games, perhaps, since everyone already knows the basics of how the setting works, and the DM has more flexibility to make whatever story they want, but I think I'll go in for this Kickstarter. Shame you have to go in for $110 before you get a physical book. Might still get it, anyways. Definitely getting at least the PDFs.
Does anyone here want to play some old school ADnD 2e? There is a group that needs players.

Even so, I'm boggling at the metal plated version; If I had money to burn on memorabilia, I'd probably get it. :v:
What in the fuck. So in the 4e game I'm in, most of us are experienced roleplayers with D&D and Pathfinder in general. So we're on our way to this old abandoned keep. Simple enough, and the DM is new at DM'ing, so all's good. We all play pretty smart, covering up golden golems with bedsheets we found in the abandoned town (our bladesinger, basically a wizard with a sword, detected that they have some kind of telekinetic power from their faces) and all that. Oh yeah and the entire keep is still populated by skeletons going about their daily business: having eternal ball dances, maintaining a kitchen and a bar... oh fucking hell a bar. Everyone in the party, except for myself and our cavalier decides to have food and drink from the skeletons. What the fuck guys. We could literally be floating around in the Astral Sea with eldritch abominations all around us and we have a quest to save the world, and you guys are casually having a spot of tea and biscuits? Served by the living dead? Well, the skeleton bartender did make a killer martini though. No pun intended. I think
Continuation of the narration of the adventures of "I take a martini from the skeleton bartender in an abandoned keep because I'm dumb" adventuring party from last week. Before I go over the party roster lemme say, this is actually the Dark Sun campaign setting. Where elves are nomadic gypsies, halflings are ruthless cannibals, spellcasters are universally hated and feared, the gods are dead or vanished, and psionics are basically everywhere. Here read this Chuka-tet, ie myself, as a thri-kreen monk, who is an erratic wasteland nomad and hates buildings because they're not wasteland material Johanesburg the halfling cavalier, who is an ex-gladiator fighter and decided to stop fighting because "fighting for bloodsport is bad mmmkay", basically he's a goody goody two shoes in a brutal desert planet Klaus, the Vryloka (basically damphir from Pathfinder) warlock that literally dresses up almost exactly like the Grim Reaper, with a scythe and all. Oh yeah and he gets his powers directly from an immortal sorcerer-king, and yes he has a German accent Farthien, the eladrin bladesinger, who is incredibly arrogant, even by high elf standards, did I mention the Feywild is withering away and could fit inside an entire city-state so he kinda has a good reason to be arrogant? And last but not least Golgur the goliath (half-giant) bard. He's a dune trader, one of the few half-giants to be so. Imagine a half-giant with a sun hat and a wagon of wares being dragged by beasts of burden and you got the idea. So after murdering all of the skeletons for their self-replenishing bottle of water (water is extremely cherished in Athas, since, y'know, it's basically Tatooine, except worse) the party discovers a library where now there are skeletons having a quiet reading session, except the reading session involves them reading...femur bones. The books are untouched next to them. So we kill the skeletons for being dumb and then stumble into huge hollow cube with switches on the floor, walls, and ceiling. We figured out pretty damn fast that gravity was turned off when Golgur jumped with a lot of force and promptly smashed into the ceiling. So we figure out that the statues need to be put on the switches and JESUS CHRIST THE GOLDEN STATUES ARE ACTUALLY INSIDE OUT ABERRATIONS. So we get on all the switches, brace ourselves, and there's a flash of light... And we end up in the middle of the desert. With all of our survival days (basically an abstract representation of food, water, miscellaneous supplies to survive in the wasteland) gone. Are you shitting me right now. No I guess not, since we're being attacked by marauding elves, but it's all good when Johanesburg gets three crits in a row on each of his turns. After he endures the seething jealousy from the rest of us, he actually gets hurt pretty bad by the elven warband leader, who calls himself "The Killer" and demands respect from us since we've clearly heard of him before. The Killer. Hmm. Cliffhanger ending for the night when the Dark Sun equivalent of the Sarlaac Pit comes out of nowhere and begins dragging both us and the elves alike into its gaping maw. And this is all at level 2. I think the newbie DM knows what he's doing. It helps that all of us are good friends, so when we constantly accuse him of trying to TPK us ("STRANDED IN THE DESERT WITH NO FOOD AND WATER IS LIKE BEING STRANDED IN SIBERIA IN A LOINCLOTH AND A PIECE OF BREAD, YOU FUCKER") we're actually saying in code, "just make sure you know what you're doing when you do this." He assures us that the hollow cube "had meaning and it's all good guys, I don't plan on TPK'ing you. It's all good." Dark Sun: not grimdark, but it is grimbright. Very bright. Like, lethal bright. Did I mention the sun is a red giant?
Didn't realize gaming tables could get so pricey. I wouldn't mind that in the gaming room though.

Seriously, before today, I hadnt even really ever thought about tables as anything other than things to keep things on.
Geekchique is pretty cool. I own a few of their products from pax this year. Quality wood.
I was going to criticize you for thinking about spending 12k on a table... but fuck that site has good looking tables. Seriously, before today, I hadnt even really ever thought about tables as anything other than things to keep things on.
You haven't lived until you've had a table with pockets and other additions. Why let all that space go to waste with simply a flat ground to place things on? As for the Sultan I'm not so sure the build is worth the price, though the quality of the wood itself might be on par. I'd have to see them in person to really gauge it. I suspect however that finding a good gaming table like that of similar design is not only going to be hard, but unlikely to exist. Can't imagine high quality gaming tables are a major market compared to other things they could use the wood to sell. Not that I have any intention of buying one any time soon anyway, but it's nice to get an idea for the future in which something like that might be useful.
Does anyone here want to play some old school ADnD 2e? There is a group that needs players.
I'd love to, But I haven't played DnD at all. Is this group accepting utter beginners? Also, what timezone?
so my friend who's basically been the sole reason my friends and i even tried dnd has decided to scrap all our existing campaigns and work all our groups into one big open world thing with no major overarching plot and a universal setting that allows for us to switch out players and dms and also switch out characters if we see fit (though this won't be ideal for most people because you don't want one character getting a shitton of exp and the other getting left behind) basically we can reuse our characters from past campaigns (none of us got very far in our campaigns mostly due to scheduling conflicts within the group) into what is essentially a justice league of dudes coming together to serve and protect the town in varying degrees (this way we don't have to have the full group of players to do shit in the same way the JL doesn't always have all its dudes doing one thing) has anyone ever done anything like this and if so how'd it work out for you
Does anyone here want to play some old school ADnD 2e? There is a group that needs players.
If you still have room i would love to join. i need a good blast from the past
You guys should either PM me or add me on Steam. Last option is more preferrable because it`s easier to keep in contact that way. Preferable timezone will be GMT+0 or around that. We are going to play in the evenings, so check the differences in timezones if you are not sure. Also, like half of our current players never played DnD before, and nobody played ADnD before.
Also, like half of our current players never played DnD before, and nobody played ADnD before.
about fucking time then
I'd love to, But I haven't played DnD at all. Is this group accepting utter beginners? Also, what timezone?
You should play Tomb of Horrors in celebration of this guys first game.
Well, it turns out I can't play in that previously mentioned game. I'm wondering if anybody would like a new player?
You should play Tomb of Horrors in celebration of this guys first game.
I wholeheartly support this idea. :getin: Just prepare a lot of spare characters, this way you can just grab a new sheet from the pile and keep playin' (I actually heard using throwaway characters like that is the most fun way to run ToH)
Have been playing for 2 years, and finally going to DM my first game. Any suggestions on not making my setting cliché? General tips on campaign and world creation welcome too.
