Yeah, I guess playing that kind of character assumes your characters' solution to getting out of jail isn't just shooting everyone.
At the very least you should keep a holdout pistol with you, for when things inevitably get hairy.
Would anyone here consider using something like http://www.3dvirtualtabletop.com/index.html on their gaming tables? I like the idea of something like this with more features, and a seperate DM tablet or something. My biggest gripe with it is that a single tablet is small, and when you put it down on the gaming table it might not give the same experience as a drawn out battlemap.

The players can move their dudes around on the larger tabletop, the DM can activate traps, drop monsters, add to the visible parts of the map, that sort of thing. Of course, it would be cheaper to just use physical tiles at that point by far.
I can easily make something like that but more feature-rich and free, but I want to know if it's worth it and if people would consider using it.

D20 works great for online multiplayer, but I'd like to develop something that specifically works for tablets and mobile phones as to play locally. It's to make things easier and more immersive for the players around the table, and it'd relieve the work for the DM to draw a crude map every time.
So is this D20 superior to Roll20?
So is this D20 superior to Roll20?
That's what I'm referring to, my bad. edit: No idea how well D20 works.
When it comes to "Face" characters, I've noticed a lot of people tend to play persuasive socialite types. I'm curious to hear if anyone's ever tried the persuasive sleazebag archetype. D&D and Pathfinder have your obvious rogue and professional criminals and modern settings like WoD and Shadowrun have your Sleazy Lawyers. High Charisma and Knowledge points invested in law and you too can be Saul Goodman Anyone ever played anything similar? If so, how did it go? [editline]1st August 2013[/editline] Come to think of it, playing a criminal lawyer for your typical player character party would be a great source of income, as you'd have to keep bailing them out of jail.
I almost got me and my whole party killed with a faulty rocket launcher
I almost got me and my whole party killed with a faulty rocket launcher
It's fun in the Warhammer RPGs to """accidentally""" drop a grenade in the middle of your friends, or """miss""" with a grenade or rocket launcher.
So is this D20 superior to Roll20?
Keep in mind that D20 costs $30 for the DM and $10 for each player's copy, and Roll20 is completely free.

Our Psyker thought it was a good idea to roll a firebomb at it. Then he fucked up the roll. It exploded at my feet.
Keep in mind that D20 costs $30 for the DM and $10 for each player's copy, and Roll20 is completely free.
You can subscribe to roll20 for some extra stuff, but only the DM needs to do that.
I use roll20.net, some of my players use their laptop or tablet to play, requiring 2GB of RAM for the program is going to mean people can't play unfortunately.
d20Pro doesn't require 2GB of RAM normally, it's if you do the kind of things I do with it that you'll need more resources to spare. Before I went hardcore with the images we did just fine with the standard cap. That'll probably change once they get dynamic FoW and lighting however, although you can just not play with them I guess.
I want to make a bard based on Tom Hanks called Hom Tanks. Obviously Perform (Acting) maxed, and then whenever I disguise I can take the name of a character he's played, and every time something happens I can say "This reminds me when I was in a play about <plot of a tom hanks movie>." Plus I can keep bringing up that he was in Mazes and Monsters.

I'm thinking of joining the steam group, but I'm curious if you guys play in the group chat? the only real D&D I actually played was the "Castle of Ravenloft" starter game which I personally enjoyed. even though I only played the starter's game, I would like to play with you guys.

Too bad they raped what Ravenloft meant post 2E, used to be hardcore. I'd love to play 2E or 3-3.5 with someone too, rather not GM. I've GM'd the last 10 games I've done.

Its in the OP
I've always had an interest in DnD just because of the possibilities it has and it seems pretty fun. I'm curious if it's possible to organize it virtually via internet or something, as the only thing big in my small town of this caliber of awesomely nerdy things is mtg, yu-gi-oh, and wh40k. If you guys do something like this, I'd love to try it out if you'd be willing to take someone with absolutely no idea what he's doing in for a game.

Usually people do more drastic things in digital campaigns due to the fact that nobody is within punching distance, or in other words: All is lost and everything is permitted all the time always.

I have an abundance of free time because I'm between jobs and classes don't start for another few weeks. Any advice on where to start if I wanted to play digitally?
I've been incredibly bored the past few days so I'm going to write up a mecha system for d20 Because I hate Future's and think they made it far too like 'it's normal combat only with bigger statsheets'

The main thing for me regarding non-digital play is when you're all huddled around a table, it's more like an experience within itself, whereas with digital, it's just the game. Another thing is, due to chat and IM people are less likely to actually roleplay. In my pathfinder group, we have to type everything out, including dialogue (which rats, if you're reading this, is retarded), as opposed to in real life, where we act out our characters with voices and such. Also, with regards to the punching thing, there's an easy remedy for that, don't get crazy angry in your group and don't act like a dickhead.
