I already have a character already nearly finished then for a game that didn't go ahead.
Cool.
it's not a shark changeling right
Anyway, now that sadness is over, any of you chums want to play some good old Shadowrun?
I would be interested except that I don't want to risk having to leave the campaign when my classes start on the 24th. I have a busy school year, it's exactly what ended up happening last time I tried to play with FP people. Couldn't keep up with both.
Plus I have no idea how to play Shadowrun.

He's an adept petrolhead who's covered in tatts, hates corps and enjoys rock and roll, deepweed, shotguns and home cooking.

I'll play, but I can't find any documentation on e5, so I'm reading the e4 material on the shadowrun wiki as it's all I can find.

That sucks
also not knowing how to play it isn't that big a deal.
Thanks mate. I hate getting into things without at least a small idea what's going on.

Shadowrun 5e? That sounds funderful.
They made fake IDs more expensive, no longer can I have five sets with their own commlinks daisy-chained.

sure you can
just put resources at top priority and spend all your money

I put resources at bottom. Need dem skill points
I put resources at bottom. Need dem skill points
well obviously you can't afford anything then, silly.
Also, anyone who wants to Shadowrun with us, hit me up on Steam or something, and we'll try and work out a decent time.

I don't believe there are any good ones for the other editions of DnD.
Does OSRIC count?
I prefer my cyberpunk/post-cyberpunk without ~*~*MaGiC*~*~ interfering.
Allright, is everyone fine with starting roughly around 7PM GMT on Fridays for Shadowrun?
So I was thinking about trying to host a post-apocalyptic (modern, with guns and stuff) campaign for some friends, but I don't know which system would work best. I want to find one that I can modify enough to fit my needs.

Is it going to be text or mic based?
Probably text, maybe with OOC on mic.

I'm hard at work rebalancing the homebrew Fallout RPG, so you might want to wait till I finish and put it all into a nice .pdf.
Pimping my work aside, I heard some really good stuff about Apocalypse World.

I've got a tabletop game at 10 GMT, so I'd only be able to play a few hours.

Hard at work after a little cash incentive by a certain enterprising GM :v:
Loosely Fudge/Fate-based Conan homebrew, anyone?
It has the basic ruleset of fudge, plus the invoke-compel system from Fate.
It could also be used for other generifantasy settings, but there will be race and class options for mostly Conanny things.

In other words, I'm still in and alright with that time.

well we might be able to get it a couple hours earlier, but i'd imagine playing one game, and then immediately playing another would be very very exhausting :v:

personally I quite like the idea of trolls with chainsaw arms riding motercycles dueling against elves on rocket skates wielding shotguns and katanas.
Anyone else excited for Numenera's release? Holy shit there has never been a setting that has made me more hyped than Numenera's. And I love the idea of a system that focuses on story rather than a system that focuses on mechanics like a lot of RPGs nowadays.

OSRIC is brilliant, there's also Swords & Wizardry which is a retroclone of the original, pre-Advanced/Basic-Expert D&D.
It comes in three versions,
Whitebox, which emulates the very first release (Fighter, Magic-User, Cleric, all weapons do d6 damage)
Core, which adds in material from the first supplement Greyhawk (adds the Thief, variable weapon damage, more spells)
Complete, which adds material from all the supplements (It essentially becomes AD&D 1E-lite).
Halfling, Elf, and Dwarf class were silly. Not even having variable weapon damage is a bit TOO retro, no thief means murderbone DMs will have a FIELD DAY with traps and locked things. 1E just isn't enough, too little character customization. 2E in general was plagued with no real customization choices outside of kits (which were more often than not OP as fuck)
3E has a lot of customization, but in return it's a hell of a lot more complicated for the players. Also, the new classes started getting weird and lame, even though they were pretty much required for class balance (which still wasn't a thing, even Pathfinder is still pretty damn imbalanced). I'd rather just go with the way they 'balanced' classes in 2E (different XP amounts to level up) but the customization that 3E has. You can KINDA customize with NWPs but they aren't varied enough, and they are mainly just skills not feat-like things.
I just noticed nobody storytimed Trooper and I's entrance to the Eclipse Phase game yesterday. Huh.
However the last session ended I have almost no clue, but yesterday started with Hats and Rear looking through a large research facility for shipping manifests, for some reason or another. Rear was in a synth, sitting at a terminal and doing his AGI hacker thing, and Hats was in a Flexboy, basically a security drone from MGS2, except with a sword instead of a gun. Hats eventually met up with the now-NPC remnants of the original group, and led them to a laboratory area on the west end of the facility. The first room of the labs was a big white room with thick panes of glass to the north and south, on the other side of which were more rooms. To the north, Shortyish's new character, a man who spent so much time in Simulspace he thinks his plasma rifle is magic and he carries a sword around, and I, a former(?) actor and full-time face man, were suspended in vats of pale blue liquid. To the south, Trooper's character, a synth with a gun, was also suspended in a vat, but he was still completely conscious. Hats cut all of us out, having sent the NPC-party to keep exploring the rest of the rooms, and shortly after we were free the NPCs returned, choking on a poisonous green gas that was in the next room. Hats decapitated them in order to retrieve their cortical stacks, then we kept exploring the labs, making sure to stay to the south(since the gas was apparently coming from the room to the north of the next central room). We passed through a second lab without any issues, and in the third room we found 10 more biomorphs suspended in the blue goo. Hats started cutting them out, while Rear ran down to hook in to an access jack we found in the south wall of the room. He opened a secret door at the south end of the room, and after a few seconds a Reaper started coming toward us from the end of the hall. Everyone except for Rear and Shorty ran back to the previous room, while Shorty started shooting at the reaper with his plasma rifle, and Rear, unbeknownst to the rest of us, began hacking in to the reaper's systems. Eventually, we killed it(mostly Shorty), with the remains of the body being split in half from the last plasma rifle shot.
We continued going south, down the newly opened hallway, where Rear found another access jack. He hooked in and was able to open several more doors leading to the east, as well as close the door behind us(locking Shorty out since he had walked out before the door closed). Shorty went north to explore a bit, and found a room with a huge green blob inside, which he recorded himself killing/stabbing with his sword, then returned a few minutes later to share the video with Trooper and I. Meanwhile, Hats went a little way down the new hall to the east, before being shot at by sentry turrets. He went back and slipped on the halves of the reaper, in an attempt to fool the security system in to thinking he was the reaper, then kept going down the hallway. Miraculously, it seemed to work, as the turrets ignored him. He got to the end of the hall and opened a final door, behind which were 3 slitheroid scientists, who said they knew he wasn't actually a reaper, they'd turned off the security so he could get through. Meanwhile, Rear started asking Trooper and I about why the three of us(including Shorty) were here. Before he could get much out of us, though, the slitheroids seemed to be ready to attack Hats, or at least pound an alarm button somewhere to alert security to the insane flexbot in front of them. Trooper and I rushed down, and I finally got to play Mr. Charisma; I convinced the slitheroids that Hats was insane, and that we were escorting him to a man by the name of Tutor(who I hadn't realized at the time wasn't even on the same planet as us), but he had gotten away from us. They accepted that, and asked if I needed any help; I declined, then, after a message from Rear, asked if I could snag some shipping manifests off the computer behind them. They willingly handed me a data chip to store the manifests on, then let me download them and leave without another word.
On our way back to town, Trooper, Shorty, and I summarized why we were on the planet and what we'd been doing to end up in the vats. Two months prior, we were sent in undercover as a Nine Lives agent(me) and his bodyguards(Trooper and Shorty), to investigate rumors of people being abducted and put under biological experiments(which the dead people that Hats had freed confirmed). It was the end of a four month operation to stop biomorph abduction/experimentation on Mars and Ceres, and this wasn't our first time doing it. We'd also, at some point, been sent to Luna to try and hunt down Exhuman assassin/abductor, Joseph Tutor, and there was an assumed link between Exhumans and Nine Lives.
I was just glad I could use augmented reality illusions in a fight successfully.
I was just glad I could actually pull some face shit. And I didn't even need to shoot anybody. :v:
(The only bullet I shot the entire session was at the reaper, but it didn't do very much to it.)
