I think that all the travelling between the missions is blatant padding, but it's fucking great padding I tell you what.
I'm at about 24 hours in the game and so far it's great and all, but I gotta say that the music is mainly crap. I'm in an intense moment in a building full of Rais's men and I hear clapping noises and FUCKING COWBELLS? Sometimes it sounds like a synthesized song from Blood Dragon, which is OK I guess but out of place in the game Anyone else agrees?
I love the 80s style electronic music in this game.
dis game is gud leik rilly gud Like this game rocks, buy it now.
Is this game worth the $60? A couple of my friends recently picked it up, so I was thinking about getting it. [editline]9th February 2015[/editline]
dis game is gud leik rilly gud Like this game rocks, buy it now.
Did u telepathically read me :tinfoil:
With the promise of extensive modding tools I would say it's a 50/50, you could always wait for a sale but if you want a game to play with friends that already have it I would pick it up now.
I love the 80s style electronic music in this game.
I can accept the 80s style music, but common, being in a firefight and hearing a tune made of fake clapping noises and cowbells feels dumb

Glad I'm not the only one that thinks of Blood Dragon when the 80s synth starts playing.
why do all the runners and scouts have like 10 bend aids on their finger tips on both hands
when you're jumping from 2 stories and grabbing a ledge with nothing but your fingers all the time, your fingers tend to get a little fucked up/need some protecting

I ended up sliding through the ground and under the map.
I went through the whole game without using any crafted weapons because i always found a better one within 10 minutes. By the end of my game i still had some shitty pipe weapons in my inventory

I wish there were more parts like in the museum right before [sp]you find jade[/sp] where there so many zombies that they're all shoulder to shoulder in a giant mass. A true horde of zombies, like this: [t]http://www.simonprior.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/dawn04-2.jpg[/t]

Heard the story's pretty fucking bad in this (expected it to be) but my question is, how much story content is there relatively to just side activities, open world content and such ? If the story content is as minimal as possible then it gives me another reason to buy it early, otherwise I'll wait some more.
The story is amazing, what are you on about?
I wouldn't say it's good, but not "fucking bad" either, it's pretty plain and forgettable.
People I've asked say it's basically trying to be like far cry with a very cliché human antagonist and piss-poor writing for all characters.
Yeah, that's about average for a video game plot.
Fair enough, I guess As long as it's not obnoxious and forced down your throat like far cry 3 and 4 which have outright the most cringeworthy shitty story characters ever other than like one or two exceptions then I'm fine with it
It's not too bad, the PC spends half of the final mission telling the bad guy to shut the fuck up which is a nice touch.
I just love Crane's character, he's always aware of the absurdities of the situations he's in.
I didn't love the story but that's more because it was trying to make a clone of Far Cry 3's Vaas rather than because it was poorly written (though it is.. at parts.. such as the last mission, bar the "Will you just shut the fuck up?" dialog, which was funny and great as hell)
I just love Crane's character, he's always aware of the absurdities of the situations he's in.
Yeah, as the game goes on he becomes progressively more aware of the ridiculousness of his world and becomes more frustrated and fed up with it. He makes a lot of great comments to the other characters about how ridiculous they are.
Vaas kind of just jumped ship out of the story about halfway or so into Far Cry 3 and got replaced by a much more bland villain, so any game which takes Vaas and actually makes him worthy of being a villain is good in my book.
If there's one thing Ubisoft did right, it's the antagonists in FC3 and 4. Both Vaas and Pagan are really great characters, and while the death of Vaas was relatively disappointing, Pagan was overall a really likeable character, and throughout the entire game I simply wished to side with him. Rice is okay, but he doesn't compare to Vaas or Pagan. I do really like Crane's "Will you just shut the fuck up?" as it really does capture how I felt about Rice's lines throughout the story.
I think of Crane's reactions to other characters, my favorite is Dhalia. [sp]She's so convinced she's a psychic witch controlling crane and making him her slave. Then when she is sure he actually is, he just fucks off and leaves her screaming while he laughs about it. So many other games would have just gone the ambiguous route and left you wondering. Instead Dying Light just goes "Nah, fuck that."[/sp]
I like one of Crane's reactions to the GRE, it went something like "What're y-... what... wh-... you know, you all are just a bunch of fucking assholes, you know that?" or something like that. I can't remember because I don't commit quotes to memory. I got a lot of amusement out of that, Roger Craig Smith (who is Sonic the Hedgehog btw) did a good job with making Crane sound natural.
Yeah, he told crane if he was ready to pull his socks up and he was like "pull my soc - alright you know what, fuck you asshole lets get this over with." Probably one of the best personalities of a first person protagonist I've seen tbh.
crane was p much the only good part of the story in the beginning i was slightly interested in what might happen but past the halfway point the story just got offensively bad and the final mission being a kick in the balls (heh you've co-op'd the entire game so far? fuck you, singleplayer only) left a really bad taste in my mouth. it's a shame since the gameplay itself isn't bad at all.
