a lot of mod pages have updated their pages to include a different option from using the manager, something along the lines of packing the files into a zip and renaming it data3.pk
Yes it's how it works now.
Another thing tempting me to buy it for PC is the mods.
I hope someone makes a side-by-side shotgun.
[editline]16th February 2015[/editline]
Fuck it, buying it now. I shouldn't have any trouble running this.
there already is a double-barrel shotgun, and certain levels give a nice Doom feel when you're running through corridors blasting humans into chunks

Why was I not informed of this.
Had I known that, I would've bought it asap.

Love me some 12 gauge side-by-side zombie blastin'
I just managed to capture all the safe houses or whatever in the slum area, still on the pact with Rais quest but I don't feel like progressing the story yet.
Are new areas unlocked by story progression or can you just waltz right into them? Can this be answered without any story spoilers?
The next zone is unlocked through the main storyline.
turned on pokemon again for the first time in months and realised I named a ralts Rais
weird coincidence
I had a similar thing in Skyrim, one of my characters was called Elsa who was a Mage that I'd mostly used Frost Magic with, then a couple of months later, Frozen comes out and there's a girl with Ice Magic shit called Elsa.
My head exploded.

You should file a lawsuit.
I found an interesting bug related to items, water, and waterbreathing.

basically, drop an item, pick it up and the game forgets you're underwater or something.
I always thought those rock throwing motherfuckers were impossible to kill because I'd always stand a mile away and throw exploding throwing stars at them and they would take at least 50 before they died, but then I ran up to one today and 2 slices of my katana killed him.
So much time wasted.

Double barrel is definitely one of the funnest things to use.
I think one of my favorite things to use it for is the Insulin side quest, and one of the stores you search has its alarm tripped. If you hop behind the counter and pull out the double barrel, the game pretty much becomes a "good shopkeep in a bad neighborhood" simulator once you stock up to full shotgun ammo. Killing the whole oncoming wave of zombies with the shotgun alone is very satisfying.
What the hell was Techland smoking / taking, and where do I find it? (story spoilers)
[sp]That turning / dream / surreal section of the game before Jade turns. That was both trippy as fuck and really cool to see[/sp]

All I could think of was Metro

Speaking of that boss fight. When I was playing it, it ended very unexpectedly for me. I ran away from the boss guy to heal up, but then one of his goons threw a knife at me. I dodged it, and the knife hit an explosive (I think it was a fire extinguisher on the wall), it exploded, and killed the boss guy. I was so confused as to why a cutscene started playing. :v:
Holy FUCK. El Jeffe's challenges are just the most EXCRUCIATINGLY PAINFUL QUESTS I'VE EVER DONE IN A GAME.
the ending was [sp]pretty terrible tbh. I actually fight his 2nd in command goon but no tangible battle with the bad guy himself? QTE in this scenario was so fucking lame. I was charging the top of the building to fight him with the new badass blade I just made but nothing materialized. They could have made it a fight and forced a QTE with dialogue when you get his health down in sections.[/sp]
Also, after you beat the game, can you [sp]take the cure back to the doctor?[/sp]

I was hoping that [sp] there'd be a huge three way brawl on the way up between you, Rais' men and the zombie horde. But no, he somehow managed to kill every single one of his own men for... some reason?[/sp] A lot of things about the ending were pretty flacid.
I love those electric car traps. If you want to see something amusing, get a zombie to climb on top of the car, and then activate it.

Haran Space Program
I decided to do the sidequest were you have to turn on 3 relays during the night.
I sadly ran out of time before I reached the last relay. But man.
Shits tense during the night. Trying to sneak around those special zombies or whatever they're called.

They get much less scary as you level up, grapple hooks make escaping pursuit trivial and you can stop them dead in their tracks using the "use throwables and UV flashlight while looking behind you" trait.
DIY time bombs work well too
Definitely. The only time they're a threat is when I'm going in for bolter kills, and even then it's quite easy to do a hit and run.
I hope somebody does something about the lackluster explosives in this game. I was really disappointed at the trap bombs you have access to, but especially Kurt's bombs. You know, even though it was explained to be scaled down for easier building, I didn't think it was going to be that weak to the point you need all five to actually kill a few zombies.

yeah; I expected to be using kurts bombs for the rest of the game. But I definitely don't
I got invaded for the first time last night and wow it's piss easy as a human to win
Molotovs, grappling hook and UV flash are all you need. You could probably even do without even using a single melee weapon.
Anyone else really like the music in this? It's 80s as fuck and reminds me a hell of a lot of Hotline Miami FC3 Blood Dragon.

it's great, but there REALLY needs to be more ambient sound effects and tracks for outdoors exploring
So I absolutely hated Dead Island, but it was super fun to play with a friend (in an ironic "this is so bad lmao" way)
I hated the voices, hated most quests, hated the sewer, hated the general way things worked (you level up and get health, but since enemies scale with you it literally doesn't do anything! Like oh my god I can't believe they did that.) Hated how expensive weapons were and how hard they were to repair.
I loved the blood and graphics (minus the bloom), I loved the gun play (even though it was so nonviable, it felt rightish), and I loved the atmosphere in some areas.
Will I like Dying Light?
go ahead and give it a go if you enjoyed playing dead island but thought man this would be a lot better if the game wasn't awful.
