How are you guys even navigating at night? I can't see SHIT.
Use your flashlight, zombies don't react to it, only other humans do.
I didn't know that
The freedom of movement and exploration in this game is really something. Is there co-op free roam? Are you bound to your coop partner, in the sense that you can't go beyond a certain distance from them? Or is it more open-ended? [editline]1st February 2015[/editline] Also, I wish they'd added an 'expert'-tier skill that kept weapons from degrading, or gave you infinite repair charges.
Also survivor sense, which works like sonar, and boosters for nightvision.
I would use boosters more if they didn't take up an inventory slot. I'm always running around with a backpack filled with weapons so I can't be bothered to stop for a moment to make space + craft boosters when I'm caught outside at night. There are quest objectives that require all players to be there to proceed but the game allows you to teleport to the person attempting to start/advance a quest.
I wish invasions were done more seamlessly with the game. it's not fun to be thrown into a separate gamemode which will take about 15-30 minutes to finish, interrupting whatever I was originally doing. would be much better if it was done in the same style Dark Souls does it. the game keeps running like it always does, just with another player in your world. once the invader is killed, he's simply gone and that's it. if you die, then that's it too.
This is a great idea. My biggest issue with the current implementation is that it's just way too loaded in the Survivors side. One survivor gets picked apart and two is somewhat fair but three or four players have to be practically AFK or potatoes to lose to a zombie, regardless of how good that zombie is. All it takes is one person paying attention and getting a UV light on you and you're done. There are skills in the zombie tree that counter some of this stuff but it's a long, painful grind when you are losing every game because they only need to kill you five times while being able to die like 10 themselves. [editline]1st February 2015[/editline]
Also did you guys know in Be The Zombie that your weapons don't degrade at all and that you have infinite stamina?

Also survivor sense, which works like sonar, and boosters for nightvision.
Shit like this is what I mean. Who even thought these were good ideas? Like the stamina thing isn't even a huge deal compared to all the other advantages but one of the basic building blocks of the combat is that stamina is limited but in this mode nope, don't worry about it, just UV light and mash the zombie.
Someone realized on Reddit that the CGI trailer is[sp]The mission Breckan went on.[/sp]All adds up.

It was balanced for singleplayer, after all.
Well, while I agree the BTZ gamemode needs balancing, the survivor sense and nightvision boosters are part of the base game, always have been. Despite killing one player 7 times, the other one always knew where I was and could one shot me the second I ran out of energy. He purposefully left a nest undefended so he could just kill me with one hit. I didn't even realize it until this match but if someone hits you with a UV ray mid-pounce it interrupts it. It literally feels like the developers didn't even play as the zombie in this mode because he doesn't really have any advantages other than speed. Stealth is impossible, he has no health, he has no offensive ability besides the one hit kill which is simplistic to counter. I want to like this mode but it's just really bad. [editline]1st February 2015[/editline] There was a part where I was over a bridge waiting for them to go for the nest but one of them came up and started hunting me. like cmon this is really basic shit, did no one playtest this?
I love the simple small details. One mission is named "Big Bang Thesis" The crazy guy [sp]with his mother[/sp] That one American guy you have to protect on a random mission. The [sp]"werewolf" who can't say "lycantrope"[/sp]

I was expecting a 4v4 or something. I was expecting them to play off the other zombies more, too, like making a lot of noise and drawing them in on the players, instead of just that bomber summon.
Use your flashlight, zombies don't react to it, only other humans do.
are you seriously telling me in the 3 days I've been playing this game at night running into walls and these fucking exploding zombies that these things don't react to your flashlight goddammit i figured a flashlight would attract them or something because in some safe houses they don't even have UV lights in or around them that I've noticed, just regular lights.
[t]http://cloud-4.steamusercontent.com/ugc/536261724102409612/35B1F6FD003D829B07F83A2EE0EA988910494A2B/[/t] meatbags everywhere
In Oldtown, look for the big plazas, throw firecracker in middle. Throw another, another, keep building a group. Molotov. 250 300 500 900 800 900 900 900 900 Xp everywhere.

anyone else experiencing that molotovs sometimes doesn't seem to work at all? I can throw a molotov into a group of zombies, and none will catch fire even thought they're clearly standing within the vicinity of the fire
pre-ordering any game is bullshit [t]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/ratings/cross.png[/t] Disagree x 6
I thought we went through with this - you know, boogie2988, the news, even SH? Paying beforehand not only leaves developers less reason to finish a good game, but buying something before you even know if it's any good is useless, and just encourages more awful pre-order exclusives.
stupid and useless just like your derailing of the thread
I'm still talking about Dying Light's awful pre-order campaign. I was gonna leave it at that anyways, I just want people to know what they're doing.
I don't think people really care, if they want the game and plan on buying it, who cares if they preorder? It's not like preorder rewards are ever going to go away.
https://a.pomf.se/oajpwu.mp4 https://a.pomf.se/tuudhr.mp4 this game killed my gpu
To those of you that played/play Dead Island, are there any mods you recommend? I haven't been able to find a good one that changes everything but doesn't make the player too OP or zombies tedious to fight.
I can barely run this on lowest settings but goddamn is it fun.
maybe around a full day? if you reload the area by going through loading screens the van doors will be closed, but nothing will be in them when you open them.
Hmmm, it must be tied to time played, not in-game time or something. As I rested for 3 days straight via bed and kept checking the closest van I looted beforehand and it never reset.
I can barely run this on lowest settings but goddamn is it fun.
set your game to best performance then do this put your textures on med/high and turn AA on it will be glorious.
anyone else thats further into the game notice that about 90-100% story completion, Crane starts getting really fucking tired of being in a video-game? [t]http://puu.sh/fmu3v/792d89c152.png[/t] This too, for a chuckle
The second half of the game, to me, was WAY too difficult. All of the zombies suddenly become faster than you [sp]and in the last storyline mission I died 10-20 times because you literally cannot outrun any of them no matter what you do[/sp]
https://a.pomf.se/oajpwu.mp4 https://a.pomf.se/tuudhr.mp4 this game killed my gpu
My GPU died the day before yesterday while playing this game.. I really hope this has nothing to do with the game, I want to play it again when I get a new GPU. R.I.P GTX 780 ti 2014-2015 I'm pretty sure it's the GPU at least..
Ok I got a few gripes with this. The combat sucks balls sometimes. Overal it's really nice and enjoyable, especially when dropkicks and leg-breaking slides become available but damn. Coming across hostile humans was pretty much a death sentence. They are tougher to kill than zombies, even the fast ones. 1 vs 3: They all dodge impossible to dodge strikes with my weapon. Their attack animation continues, regardless of wether I hit him in the face with a hammer or not. Their attacks connect even though I used space + direction keys to dodge. I died 8 times in the schoolbuilding lockerroom. Really hate it sometimes.
use the grapple every time they attack and you win if you have the upgraded grapple that throws guys to the floor and the head-stomp, rais's goons are as dangerous as toddlers
Really enjoying this game so far. I'm just going full power skill tree, fuck the rest. If I level up in the others, it's a side benefit, but I'm gonna be the meanest motherfucker I can be. So satisfying crumpling zombie heads, but it's frustrating how flimsy weapons can be. Going toe-to-toe with that [sp]sledgehammer-wielding fucker at the start of the game at the power substation, it was awesome. I'd just unlocked dodge and I was running rings around the enemy, it was really good fun![/sp] It became night time shortly after that and I kept hearing these really loud screams cause I'd crashed through a roof. Was convinced some creepy, super-fast zombie was gonna spook me but I managed to get to the safehouse without shitting my pants. NIGHT TIME IS GONNA BE REALLY PAINFUL FOR ME. All systems buttclenched.
Some people don't have the grapple you know. In fact, I didn't get the grapple until six hours in (or later) since I do all the side quests and stuff.
took me about that long to get it too. it didn't really seem all that useful when i read the description, but in practice it's the best shit ever. [editline]1st February 2015[/editline] right now i'm super lategame, so i've been having a lot of fun doing some alucard-ass sidestrafe/neck snap combos. that was the only real way i could play with earlygame friends without stealing all their kills unfortunately being unarmed is kind of lame because there's no skills that make your fists good
