An Imperial cult known as the Marukhati Selectives (lead by an imga named Marukh, interestingly enough) did some dance on a tower (not sure if literal or metaphorical) to try and draw the elven influence out of Aka, and Akatosh was the result. It's pretty damned clever symbolism. Lorkhan is represented as a snake, and is associated with space as well as mankind. Space and time are inseperable, two halves of the same coin, and the same applies to Lorkhan and all the aspects of the Time Dragon. Auri-El, the purely elven interpretation of the Time Dragon, with no Lorkhanic influence, is an eagle. What's an eagle plus a snake?
IIRC "tower-dancing" is a metaphor for something else entirely-- basically some unknown form of direct reality manipulation (as opposed to magic, which sort of follows natural laws) a-la the Voice, Dwemer Tonal Architecture, and Yokudan sword-singing. [As I grok it, if reality is a dream, it can be represented as a musical performance-- tower-dancing, whatever it is, is something so flashy that it "drowns out" everything else, even the thoughts of the unconscious Dreamer behind everything else. Shouts are words in the language of the performance-- there's some kind of connection between Dragons and elder magic/the dream that I don't quite get --that are literally too loud for the Dreamer to ignore them. Tonal Architecture was some fancy Dwemeri method for precisely manipulating the dream-- it's why their shit still works, they basically decided the laws of nature wouldn't apply to it --and nobody remembers much about Yokuda. Also, it was probably both the literal and metaphorical towers they danced on . . . thing being that in Kirkbridism, the physical towers are actually metaphors for the immaterial towers, which in turn represent the collective perception of reality of various groups like the Ayleids/Imperials (white-gold), Dwemer (walk-brass), and gods/Ehlnofey before they died to become the Earth's Bones (Adamantine).]
The connections between dragons and elder magic is they're exactly the same thing; dragons are literally ideas about concrete concepts given form, right up to even getting into fights over opposite concepts via "word duels" ala dragon breath. Dragons fights are literally forum fights between Avatars of the Dreaming.
Apparently I'm on the ESO beta list cause I just got invited to the free weekend
How the hell is this supposed to get more people to play? Presumably the majority of people who beta tested it will at the very least have had some idea of how the game plays, if not have already bought the thing in the first place.
The Beta had a lot of problems which would have pushed many people away from the full-release. This is an attempt to get those beta-testers back on-board.
I had to clean 13 gigs of saves yesterday, about 3000 saves
Good news, ESO is doing a free weekend! Bad news, it's only for those that beta tested.
With ESO's 80gb size, I'm not even considering it.
The game is ~42GB, I don't know why the steam page says 80.
The game is ~42GB, I don't know why the steam page says 80.
I think you download the base game, and then all/most of the updates, but I'm not 100% sure. Pretty sure I downloaded more than 42 GB total though.
The game is ~42GB, I don't know why the steam page says 80.
Could it possibly be doing something where during install there's technically two copies but one gets deleted afterwards?
The game is ~42GB, I don't know why the steam page says 80.
It's also what the email says.
On CD keys they're selling game time for like £14.99 isn't that like pointless now seeing as there's no sub fee
Could it possibly be doing something where during install there's technically two copies but one gets deleted afterwards?
It looks like that might be the case. http://www.reddit.com/r/elderscrollsonline/comments/2b02ph/can_anybody_tell_me_why_this_game_takes_up_80gb/
Well, the files are downloaded, about ~28 gb is needed to store those while they are uncompressed into the 37gb game install. Then they install it and delete the 27gb files. It saves us downloading 10 gb
What is the map like on TSO?, like is it actually all of Tamriel?
What is the map like on TSO?, like is it actually all of Tamriel?
Only province we can explore the entirety of is Valenwood, but it's obviously still a decent chunk of Tamriel we get to see.
I just bought the game but can't create/login to the website cause it's having maintenance, so i can't get the launcher or whatever to play
So with Dawnguard, playing as a vampire Bosmer wearing a hood makes your character a Jawa. Hootini.
So with Dawnguard, playing as a vampire Bosmer wearing a hood makes your character a Jawa. Hootini.
sandcrawler now pls
Is there a way to find out whats crashing your game? Everythings running completely fine when for some reason the game crashes repeatedly while I'm riding down this one street outside markarth.
Is there a way to find out whats crashing your game? Try disabling any mods that might be doing so or clean your plugins. [editline]|[/editline] I recently found a tutorial on how to easily find/fix conflicts between your mods: http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Merging_Plugins#TES5Edit_Merge_Patch Basically, just load all your plugins apart from the bashed patch in tes5edit, find the mod that you are having issues with, find the object in the mod that specifically is the problem (things altered by multiple mods are usually a different color) and it will show you all the mods that alter it and what exactly they altered. It's pretty convenient and definitively quicker and easier to use than the creation kit.
I've been stuck at this screen for ages, is this normal?
God it bothers me so fucking much that the elves in TESO look so generic I would have honestly thought this was a LOTR picture if it wasn't for the logo.
My brother asked me this:
Why are both the dunmer and the argonians in the ebonheart pact?
I don't know anything about elder scrolls lore help me out here.
My brother asked me this: I don't know anything about elder scrolls lore help me out here.
Schick's a dumbass, is why
My brother asked me this: I don't know anything about elder scrolls lore help me out here.
because there were already two alliances fighting over the throne and so the others banded together because it's easier to fight together than separate.
because there were already two alliances fighting over the throne and so the others banded together because it's easier to fight together than separate.
Also Dark Elves having Argonian Slaves.
My brother asked me this: I don't know anything about elder scrolls lore help me out here.
So they could easily split the map into only 4 chunks. 1 for each of the factions and cyrodiil.
My brother asked me this: I don't know anything about elder scrolls lore help me out here.
Protection. Before the events of the game, the Akaviri tried invading Tamriel, starting from the northeast, forcing the Nord, Dunmer, and Argonians to work together to stop them. Afterwards, the two other factions (neither of which are particularly friendly to Dunmer or Argonians) rose up and started fighting for the throne, so they decided to stick together a little longer. Also, while the Daggerfall Covenant and Aldmeri Dominion both want to rule the Empire themselves, the Ebonheart Pact is made up of two races that are too proud to serve any Empire, and the Argonians who are sick of being conquered. The Ebonheart Pact's goal is to take the Empire so they can destroy it for good.
Meanwhile the Skaal are forming a circle of friendship and singing "Kumbaya".
