True, but the ones doing the invasions were the Tsaesci with their human slaves.
To my knowledge the Kamal, and Tang Mo did not come running to Tamriel.
Then you had rumors of the Ka'potun dragon leader wanting to invade Tamriel but apparently he never did so as he's warring the Tsaesci.
So for all intents and purpouses, when you talk about Akaviri in Tamriel you mean the Tsaesci.
Either way, it's confirmed that the Akaviri who invaded Tamriel around ESO's time were snake people, hence Tsaesci.
Yes, but none of that matters because it isn't canon.
So how about them Bosmer? They used to be dweebs in Morrowind and Oblivion but what about now?

It's kind of hard to take ESO lore seriously. That's a general thing with Online games. You can go kill the same person again and again, it's sort of hard to have any sort of history. Sure you can go in two completely opposite directions in a single player game, but the lore in any online game is hard as hell to document for a sequel imo.

Try doing the Aldmeri Dominion storyline.
Basically all of Valenwood is in ESO and the Bosmer culture is explored and I think it's done good.
You get to explore the Green Pact, learn about their relation with the forest and such.
Plus find out what happened to the Ayleid who went there, help save the Bosmer from the Maormer and such.

Pvp is not canon, nor is it canon that theres a ton of soulless.
Other players are just people. You're the only one who fought Molag Bal and did the quests and such.
The way ESO's lore is handled is no different than the way Oblivion/Skyrim/Morrowind's lore is handled.
It being online changes nothing. ESO's lore is in the books, and in the quests and such.
If Kittycat543 becomes the Emperor through PVP it is completely non-canon and only a gameplay thing.
If it helps, consider Pvp a Mod. All the sex mods in Skyrim aren't canon either.

I was just talkinging about them in presentation. I give presisely 0 fucks about any lore other than the Skaal and the scattered references to faeries.

That's sad. Well there is some Atmora lore and such, but since Solstheim isn't ingame yet, there isn't much Skaal stuff. You do get to learn about some old Atmoran Nord traditions and religions that are gone by the time of Skyrim. They're similar to the Skaal.

It sounds odd that someone becoming Emperor is non-canon... but it sounds better than WoW's lore, which makes no sense. Players go to kill the respawning lich king every now and then.
I know there's no easy solution to this, but this is one of the major reasons I don't like MMORPGs. They're less immersive than pacman.

It depends on how you play.
I generally only do a boss once.
Unlike Wow, you cannot go and kill Molag Bal over and over though. Which is good.
Then again, you never do kill him, as he's a Daedric Prince.
Speaking of Daedric Princes, I love how ESO expands on them.
Meridia is no longer just a random lady giving you a sword.

afaik bosses respawning isn't part of the lore?

Are you on the take of ESO sales or something?
The stories and canonicities of MMOs have never been a thing for me. It's like, how can every single person including me be 'the chosen one' and all that shit, it doesn't feel right.
yeah, but it's not morrowind you stupid
literally every game after morrowind was horrible and you should feel horrible you horrible person
because you're too stupid to play the game

Even if the Combat of Skyrim feels nice, and I like Skyrim, I'm some kind of loser moron because I don't suck Morrowind's dick?
Not even doubting Morrowind could have been good to play at the time, but I was late to that party.
How did you ever interpret Ninja's post to be serious in any way?
The stories and canonicities of MMOs have never been a thing for me. It's like, how can every single person including me be 'the chosen one' and all that shit, it doesn't feel right.
They're not. It's like asking how everyone who owns Skyrim is the Dragonborn.
Only YOUR character is the Soulless one. The other characters are normal people.
It's like asking how everyone who owns Skyrim is the Dragonborn
I don't think that's the same at all
I don't think that's the same at all
It is, because other players aren't part of your story.
Their Soulless one is as far apart as some other person's Skyrim Dragonborn.
Only your character is the Soulless one, only the quests YOU complete are the quests that are canon for you.
If some dude completes a quest in Auridon while you're playing around in Deshaan it has no effect on your story or the canonicity of your experience.
That's how you need to look at it. Just because it's an MMO doesn't mean every character is the big hero, and every game mechanic is canon.
Even if the Combat of Skyrim feels nice
you serious?
you serious?
We're talking hypotheticals here, like if skyrim was the only game you've ever played

It's not JUST ESO it's all MMOs in general
It's not JUST ESO it's all MMOs in general
Yeah but it's the same in a lot of other MMO's. I mean, obviously you know that every other player probably got given the same speech about being 'the chosen one', but in-game they make sure that it seems like you are the only one. So the lore still kind of makes sense, if you think straightly in-character.

Yeah, I guess so. It takes me out of it though, cuz there's so many other player characters.
Yes, but none of that matters because it isn't canon.
Pretty sure that was all canon before ESO was even a twinkle in a Zenimax executive's eye.

Actually, PVP is probably canon (other than the usernames, but you know there's people out there who named their Dovahkiin Penisbreath69 so nothing new about that). Lore from before ESO states that there was a series of petty kings and warlords who held the throne for a short time before being ousted during this period, those could easily be players.
Also, ESO is very good at making it feel like you're the only Vestige. All dungeons that involve you being the chosen one and all that are Solo only, and the only indication that there is any other Vestiges is when they respawn. The simplistic armour designs go a long way to making players fit in with the NPCs, too.
Pretty sure that was all canon before ESO was even a twinkle in a Zenimax executive's eye.
That's as maybe, but it doesn't exclude the fact that ESO is non-canon.
What's with all this talk of cannons? Gunpowder hasn't been seen in any Elder Scrolls game.
What's with all this talk of cannons? Gunpowder hasn't been seen in any Elder Scrolls game.
Point of fact, I'm fairly sure Redguard had guns.
What's with all this talk of cannons? Gunpowder hasn't been seen in any Elder Scrolls game.
I think there were cannons in Redguard? They were mentioned as being common on Hammerfell ships, at the least.
edit: don't you ninja me
The elder scrolls: Redguard is Skyrim with guns
Now there just needs to be a mod to make the UI not ass.
I'm pretty sure OpenMW will allow modders to do that.

the flintlock pistols mod is great
left hand pistol
right hand sword
