lol the original set of paid mods looks like it was intended as DOTA 2 content or something
You know, I was just making my little modpack as a way of taking the sting away for us all, but now it really seems like we'll slowly piece by piece discover holes in the mod blanket.
Yes, Bipolar is a mental disorder.
There is nothing wrong with having a character with disorders, but what is important is that you treat it properly. Deal with it in a mature manner with respect given, good role play options and good reasons for things. Many people with Bipolar realize their episodes are dangerous, feel remorse/guilt and typically also struggle with depression issues as well.
It would be best to ask friends, ask people, ask forums, look at life, and draw from it. Just as an artist manipulates the physical elements of reality to give form, you must too create a character born of our reality.

As your work is also free as you've decided on, I'd also say to worry even less, there is really a lot less risk on a social/professional level and backlash hitting on you. Risks are worth taking and when I plan on writing my companion characters I had intended to use real experience I and others have had, to form a person that has flaws as any human does.
The character is somewhat based on me because I can't write for shit.
His story was that he grew up in a tribe where his father was the leader. His father was an absolute cunt to him. His father wouldn't let him learn magic like his mother because "magic is for the weak".
My character would defy him by stealing supplies and selling them to trading caravans for a 25% profit so he can have enough money to buy novice magic tombs to practice on the wildlife.
I don't know what happens next. Father finds out and tried to kill him? My character just leaves when he's older?

2 of the weapons on their are based on Dota 2 weapons.
And the rest are definitely in the style of Dota 2.

Who knows, Perhaps later down the line have some kind of small quest that involves his father sending mercenaries to reacquire his son/kill his son depending on which you pick for his actual backstory.
That sounds like a great idea. But instead I think they'll come with an apology note.
That sounds like a great idea. But instead I think they'll come with an apology note.
Dawww, yeah that is actually a pretty good idea and different to the norm, I love it.
Or like news of his fathers death, and it turns out his father had forgiven him in the end, I mean it doesn't have to be tragic, but heh, different strokes for different folks.
There is nothing wrong with basing a character on ourselves or people we know, or even making a character more directly like us, it really comes back to the intention of it. I assume with this project its a mixture of having fun/making a creative thing, and also perhaps expressing some of your feels and thoughts, which is a healthy and great way of doing it.
While these things are based on you or people you know, its important too on a story level to think about how it all connects and works together. People typically have reasons and motives what they do in their lives, actions and reactions.
Think about why your father and mother are who they are, what shaped them, what shaped them as parents, what baggage they carry, and think about how that would work in a character, a good character is a person.
This goes for your character as well, I am sure you've felt anger but also regret, I know many times in my life I've felt very angry at my family but also tinges of guilt or regret and those feelings have developed and changed over time, I've become more calm and patient, more at peace, I begun to realize why they are who they are.
My point is, your character should not be mentally, emotionally or psychologically one dimensional nor any other characters. People always develop and change. This does not mean everything he does must be a doubt or have mixed emotion but I think you understand what I am trying to say.
Where your character goes and why he chose to leave and what he did when he left, can be inspired by yourself or people you know, or just something entirely new, but I think the best advice I could give, is to think of your character arc. What is his personality, what is his development, what is his starting point, middle point, and ending as a character; does he have multiple endings as well.
If I made a character that was a cold cynical mercenary, perhaps even an assassin I might write that he had to kill from a young age or his innocence was robbed from him. Its all about finding a natural flow of actions, reactions, and the thoughts/emotions that connect them together.
If you wish to talk to me in private as well, please do so.

mudcrab follower in this picture he costs 9,99€ and if you want the custom-voice by the guy who did Dr.Zoidberg that'll be another 4,999€ because i couldnt pay him
ApolloDown hid all his mods in protest of the paywalling of SkyUI.
I wasn't even aware he was capable of being serious, but I can only see this being a good thing in the long run.
It's not like free mods are going away
Let's assume many or even all of them did. This is completely in line with Valve's goal, and what they want to happen, and the only reason it doesn't is because of the huge backlash against this because it's fucking stupid (which seems to bother you so very very much).
Assuming these average out at about a dollar or the majority of the pay what you want mods scale down to paying a dollar, that would mean that in order to keep my mod setup the way it is, it would cost me $164. And considering my mods are essential to my character, and my enjoyment of Skyrim, that creates a $164 paywall for me to be able and willing to play. And considering that this mod set up I have is dedicated to just one character, that would mean I'd have to pay more to mod it for other characters. The only practical reason that this isn't the case is because of the huge negative backlash that has occurred, and nothing else is preventing this from becoming the case.
Hell, if even 30 of the larger mods that everyone's gotten used to went paid, I'd have to pay 30 dollars to get in.
We act like the mod creators are fucking paupers, but guess what, I don't have money either. I have so little money it's not reasonable of me to consider paying for something like this for even 5 bucks. It's the entire reason I loved Skyrim in the first place; it's a game that lasts hundreds of hours with hundreds of mods that extend that playtime even further, which is great for me because I am very rarely able to actually get games so this kind of shit keeps me entertained at an insane dollar to game time ratio. This makes it so that I can't afford to have those mods, and therefore can't afford to enjoy the game. Fuck it.

The count on the Nexusmods homepage has gone down by 4 in the last hour. I don't know if that represents Apollodown's protest (good on him) or if that's another 4 mods going paid.
all you idiots pirating mods, i would not be surprised if the next TES game (if bethesda continues the paid mod feature), only allows mods that are tied to your account on the steam workshop
pirating mods
Look at these two words together and guess why people are doing it.
lordcrypto whats so idiotic about downloading shit that was free not 1 week ago?

I'd have expected this regardless of if I was pirating mods or not at this point.
Look at these two words together and guess why people are doing it.
so there's nothing wrong ethically with getting something for free that the creator has now put a financial value on?
how the fuck do you actually defend paid mods
christ
whether or not you think it's worth that 49 cents (!!!!), the creator has still valued it as such

I value the creator less now because I think it's hilarious that they think they would actually make any money with the scheme Valve is running when it comes to selling something for 49 cents.
whether or not you think it's worth that 49 cents (!!!!), the creator has still valued it as such
And whether or not you think the creator deserves the money, they're not getting a fucking cent of it until they earn $400.
And then 75% goes to the companies who think it's okay to take all the credit.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with this, of course.
alright well that does it. what you said converted me. im going to make this character of mine into a follower and put her up for 9,99€ on the steam workshop.
because i valued it so.

Serious question: how did you get dirt on the character like that? Or is it snow from Wet & Cold?
thats snow from wet and cold yeah
Serious question: how did you get dirt on the character like that? Or is it snow from Wet & Cold?
99% sure it's from Wet and Cold.
Either that or Get Snowy, because tbh I can't remember the difference between their snow shaders.

Which is another point, by the way. At a dollar a mod being the lowest value, again, 30 big mods (which I can easily name you 30 large mods tons of people play with) equal 30 dollars. The only way to make this affordable for consumers is to lower the price even further, which means the already measly 25 cents to the dollar the creator was getting is even further lowered. So even the end result of a dollar cost is paying $164 on my end, which creates a grand total of 41 dollars to be distributed amongst 164 modders. I get shafted, they get virtually no money at all.
