So I'm thinking about becoming an archer, ranger type character in Skyrim. Any recommended mods? I've never been one before so I don't know what's needed. I'm mostly curious about bows. I saw one customizable bow mod, the huntsman, but I didn't like that all the paints were camos, and the modifications had to be done in a linear order forcing me to have the sight, which I'd rather not have on a bow. Any similar ones? I'd like something that can be my character's personal bow, from start to finish.
Archery is literally the most satisfying combat choice in the vanilla game and not much needs to be done to it in the way of improvements, though that doesn't mean there aren't plenty of options to choose from. There are some ini tweaks that are a must that fix the aiming being above the crosshair and fix arrows not hitting enemies at a certain distance, other than that grab one of the many many many mods out there that lower the arrow gravity to increase the range of use and you're pretty much set. There's tons more in the way of optional mods out there that do things like add downsides such as camera sway (usually looks awful and isn't worth the hassle even for the sake of immersion) and/or stamina drain to simulate strain of keeping the bow drawn, things like scoped bows which are at least lore plausible and are handy as fuck if you don't use the in-game crosshair or just want to be a super accurate sniper type character, but to make it pretty much perfect while staying close to vanilla, the ini tweaks and a mod to lower arrow gravity is pretty much all you need. I'd also recommend localized damage for an archer character too, so head shots and shots to the hearts will actually kill shit. And if you do download loacalized damage, grab difficult archery (makes AI archers less accurate) with it too since the localized damage applies to you as well, and you don't want to get sniped every time someone with a bow sees you.
-wrong thread-
Game keeps starting in some sort of shitty windowed mode and no matter what I do I can't get it to fuck off. [editline]8th February 2015[/editline] This is with using SKSE and the normal skyrim.exe
Do you have some ENB or something? Perhaps an SKSE plugin? Are you using Mod Organizer? How many fingers do you have?
no enb using an SKSE plugin to unshit the glitched double mouse when alt tabbing, removed it and its still screwed am using mod organizer I've tried deleting skyrimpref.ini and all that and its still screwed [editline]8th February 2015[/editline] Alright problem solved, just got some mod to make windowed mode borderless [editline]8th February 2015[/editline] [vid]http://a.pomf.se/jxcfph.webm[/vid] t-thanks..

And you call eater beater cheesy.
Then don't bitch about it being shit when a fix is within your reach. We told you it was shit, you said this, and then you go "well, that was depressing" like we didn't already tell you it was shit
Hey, I'm not angry at all about the whole thing I'm just a bit depressed If anything, what really made me sore was Nahkriin and not Alduin
So yeah, I've faced Alduin. It was depressing. I mean, the fucking Draugr Deathlords coming at me two at a time in the previous dungeon were far more challenging. And that mandatory dragon priest was embarassing. Now I just want to clear the main campaign of Dragonborn, buy that house in Solitude, marry Lydia and adopt poor Sofie.
Kill lydia and replace her with jenassa, and then you've got yourself a solid plan there.
Kill lydia and replace her with jenassa, and then you've got yourself a solid plan there.
You can't put aside true, virtual, completely random-based love for a companion I ditched fairly early in my walkthrough On a side note, I think I'll buy a house in Whiterun. My character has a special connection with the place, I like the town and the thing is far less expensive (I just have to check if it can be upgraded with children bedrooms) EDIT: Nope, I want my fucking manor

Can we discuss this odd ... compulsion of yours about finding a mod for everything? (I'm joking, I'm downloading that shit right now)
So here's a random question [del]because I'm lonely[/del]; what do you folks think about Miraak? I personally liked him quite a lot [sp]I tolerated the stealing of my dragon souls only because it was good character building and also strangely badass on his part. I think I've heard people complain about his boss battle too, but I personally liked it[/sp], but I was thinking about it and realized that a. I've never heard anyone have any opinion on him and b. he seems like he could be a polarizing character.
Best boss character in the whole game, hands down. Fuck Alduin and fuck Harkon, Miraak is the coolest.
Anyone know if there's an easy way to change a followers attributes with the UFO mod? Lower them, that is. The game is otherwise just the perfect challenge with DUAL + CE at one higher than normal difficulty, even one hit from a bandit in the back can kill you. But the problem is, I hired the mercenary in Whiterun and she's just too strong. Or durable, to be precise. I suppose taking off all her armor would help, but I don't want to run around with an almost naked woman.

I've never ever gotten UFO to work for some reason. Whether or not I have SKSE installed (I don't think it depends on SKSE but still), it just straight-up doesn't change anything in my game.
Best boss character in the whole game, hands down. Fuck Alduin and fuck Harkon, Miraak is the coolest.
Definitely, but at least Harkon was better than Alduin - since his bossfight actually felt like one.
Best boss character in the whole game, hands down. Fuck Alduin and fuck Harkon, Miraak is the coolest.
Don't even mention Harkon. I've one shotted him with a dagger sneak attack in the middle of his speech.
Are there any mods that add something like the companion wheel from Fallout New Vegas? So much easier to deal with companions using that rather than having to go through all the dialogue options

Anyone have any idea how to start any dragonborn crap after using alternative start - live another life. I started as an Orc in a stronghold near Markarth.
Anyone have any idea how to start any dragonborn crap after using alternative start - live another life. Obviously I didn't start in Helgen so I've never seen Alduin and therefore had no nothing to say to Jarl Balgruuf and so the questline never started. I haven't tried just going to Helgen yet, will probably do that when I get home.

Four masks acquired, four to go I have to say, those Dragon Priests aren't as challenging as I expected, but I have my hopes up with Krosis
Four masks acquired, four to go I have to say, those Dragon Priests aren't as challenging as I expected, but I have my hopes up with Krosis
after you acquire all the masks, there is a mod that's all of them in one. wait until you acquire them all so it feels like you accomplished something.
after you acquire all the masks, there is a mod that's all of them in one. wait until you acquire them all so it feels like you accomplished something.
That seems slightly overpowering.
