So if we've donated to kickstarter is there anyway to link it to your forum account? How else are we gonna get future builds?
I disagree. The Hunter vehicle with the .50 caliber machine gun looks very cool. And having that thing tear down walls with its machine gun and rend anyone behind it feels extremely dakka. Wish you could duct tape that really durable alien alloy to the hull of the vehicle. You don't need anything fancy. Just something for it to stick and protect against the bigga shootas.
You don't understand. The model of the vehicle itself looks really good. But the art style makes it look bad.
I just read a thread on the official forums where is a guy is going fucking nuts because his country, the Philipines, is not in game and cannot be found on the world map. That guy is literally fucking crazy :v:

They're sprites?

Hah, you're right, a bunch of the smaller island nations around there aren't on the geoscape.
That guy flamed the devs and said that he was furiously mad because he could not place his base on his favorite island :v:

No shit it's a sprite, but with model I mean the vehicle itself.
Gnnn, dat X-com feel.
It's been a while.
x-com feel? This is x-com under a different name pretty much.
x-com feel? This is x-com under a different name pretty much.
And? It still feels like x-com, and that's what I want.
I'm pretty sure if you were to play the game with the same name made by 2k, you wouldn't feel it.
Does the Geoscape not load for anyone else?
Does the Geoscape not load for anyone else?
Works for me. The only major problem I got was crashing before missions, but that's not really big.
Also lack of access to the stores and shit. When you played the original, lacking all the options in this version is confusing.
Finally got around to playing the demo, holy cow this is amazing. I never played the X-COM games, but I always watched videos on them and thought they were interesting, albeit complicated.

I get people walking though closed doors and line of sight being funny around the outside of downed ships, I've got stuck on "hidden movement" twice as well.
Holy cow migs are delicate as hell. There must be some kind of critical hit system in place with the air combat since my migs tend to just drop from about 75% health to dead half the time. There goes $250.000 crashing in a big ball of fire.
This game is sweet by the way, even as a demo. It's basically X-Com with better graphics and a few bits and bobs of its own. And I am completely ok with that.
Pretty decent, needs a buttload more content (and obviously bugfixes)
One thing I noticed is if an alien dies on their turn, the game stops responding, I learned this the hard way when one of the fuckers walked through a fire, died and then promptly forced me to wait there for 5 minutes until i gave up and ended the process.
For anyone still interested, they've reached over 75 000 dollars and achieved the first backing objective : Get a mapper on the development team.
Good news Everyone! Xenonauts was finally funded a few days ago, at 154 715$ on a 50 000$ goal! That's around 300% funded guys!
With the bonus amount of money they've acquired, they have:
-Hired a Dedicated level designer
-Added Indoor missions
-Added the Soviet town terror tileset
-Added the Tileset-specific friendly AI (Farmers with shotguns on farms, Police in cities, etc...)
There is currently an updated Alpha if you have backed this project, it will be sent to your Desura account, or it will be sent on your mail until you do a desura account.
I have been checking the site regurlarly for the past few years and it seems like there hasn't been much activity. When can we finally estimate a final release, I'm kinda loosing hope for Xenonauts.
The official site states that the game might be completed at the end of december, the end is quite near and there isn't much information yet. I bet my ass that it will be delayed again.
After playing a small bit of the original Xcom: UFO Defense, everything written/typed in the OP sound just like the original Xcom, which strikes me as cool but... something tells me this game will not gain much if they don't do something different, otherwise it just be the same game, different title, similar story.
I think their best selling point is that it's actually a lot closer to the original games than any sequel or spinoff. The gameplay, visuals and sound are really reminiscent of X-Com and I really like it.
Unfortunately this has been in developement for so long and progress is really slow, I've played a playable version myself a year ago and it still felt incredibly unfinished. The news on their site do sound promising but I'm really sure that they will delay it to the first or second quartal in 2014
So Xenonauts has left Early Access and has now been officially released.
The first game on my Steam wishlist to do so.
Chris England and the Goldhawk team have done a great job with this. It's an amazing update to the original XCOM/UFO formula.
I'm really tempted to pick this up, I hope it goes into the summer sale
I don't think that it will happen. This game has only be released yet. I'm also wondering if I should pick it up.

I suppose it comes down to whether you're a fan of the original X-Com game or not. Xenonauts is essentially the same thing but with better visuals, tighter UI choices, a nifty setting, more interesting research paths/base management and some tricky AI. It feels nice and balanced and it's good-times without the pixelated glory of the original UFO.
I bought it anyway after watching some gameplay footage and reviews. I really hope that this thread gets lively but by the looks of it I highly doubt it.
So how far do they explore the Cold War theme? Do you have to worry about helping out either NATO or Warsaw Pact nations to get different weapons or something ?
Absolutely not, the cold war theme isn't explored much. You start out with equipement from that period of time and there are some story and lore elements to it. Nothing much really.

Do you really think anything like that would matter if Earth was being attacked by aliens that could very well destroy us all?
It's one of the reasons the Xenonaut Organisation was created, to fight as a united Earth against the aliens.
