Well... 1) Excuse me, but I tried to punctuate the best I could, and it isn't still that bad. I do my best since English is not my primary language. You might make a mistake when you have to speak two languages at the same time and your brain gets corrupted by a third one. 2) I wasn't attacking you, in case you were wondering. I was just pointing out it wasn't so hard to understand that. 3) You can rip sculpts, but it is harder than standard meshes, and you need tools that LL actually forbid and might be able to get caught in some way. 4) It is not the same comparing textures with meshes, since textures don't have absolutely anything you can replace them with, but you can replace meshes by sculpts. (I'd be happy if we had Farbrausch's texture generator, but I doubt LL would waste so much money in a complex system like that) Sculpts aren't the best system, but is the best idea on security, knowing how Linden Labs are about that subject... @IlikeHL2: Sculpts suck, yes, but it's the best we have considering the bunch of idiots around which are only interested in stealing the content to resell it later, without any manners or mercy. Still, better than that the effin' prims, right?
Actually I've got programs that can pull whatever is being displayed on screen (so long that it uses DirectX or OpenGL, which SL does) and save it as a file compatible with max. [editline]04:10PM[/editline] Also, how would stealing meshes be so easy if nobody steals sculpts? Meshes have UVW mapping, you know. It just isn't used to define vertex coordinates in the case of meshes. So if anyone tried to rip a mesh they would wind up with a UVW map-less model. Whoopdyfuckingdo.
We've talked about this in world for a rather long time I think I get the point :v:
Harrr :v: @Extrems: Is there a chance to generate your custom Linden Trees? I've been looking about it, but can't find anything. And your "mysterious program" is what I was talking about. It is still against ToS but not directly by LL. It is just stated as "software to copy or steal content".
Is there a chance to generate your custom Linden Trees? I've been looking about it, but can't find anything.
Maybe, but it would be limited to your viewer.
Maybe, but it would be limited to your viewer.
Well, at least the standard one doesn't have any flashing text saying "GENERATE TREES HERE OMGLOLOLOL!!!!!", so I couldn't find how to generate them in it :P
Is there any other way to get passed hardware bans, other than changing my mac address? every time I change it my internet get's disconnected and I'm unable to reconnect.
Is there any other way to get passed hardware bans, other than changing my mac address? every time I change it my internet get's disconnected and I'm unable to reconnect.
SMAC 2.0 works for me.
there one of my last work this is haze, one of my great friend :3
I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THIS I AM A FLYING BLACK GUY urgh
I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THIS I AM A FLYING BLACK GUY urgh
you never online when i try to catch you lol
Sculpts are unoptimized as fuck.
there one of my last work this is haze, one of my great friend :3
I spy Wastelands. :D
yeah, it look beautiful on this picture, too bad the sim look like shit
:geno: No they don't
:geno: No they don't
IMO the sim looked good before, butnow they seriously need to reupdate it
IMO the sim looked good before, butnow they seriously need to reupdate it
Well since it's a residencial sim I don't think it's really a matter of reupdating but a matter of hoping people sell their land. Look at the builds off in the NW area of the Great Fissure sim, and 'round. People in the Wastelands don't like giving the land up, shit sells overnight there

I do own a parcel on there though, i will try to expend myself as much as i can and make something more related to it.
Which sim? And yeah, I fucking hate the idiots who plop prefabs down
I was still referencing the wasteland sim, I have a parcel there but I never use it, few of them around me are full of prefab, and not the good prefab, just some basic very scary box-like houses and freebies with misplaced ugly library alpha grid textures

Most users wouldn't do it properly. I don't think that anyone would go to the trouble of trying to re uv something. That would just be stupid.

The fact is, nobody would go to such lengths to copy a model. And anyone who wanted to wouldn't know how to do so in the first place.
Trust me, Second Life is Second Life. In terms of theft, it can be even worse than the real world.
So if you steal something inside SL it can be worse than stealing say, a purse, or identity theft? Basically, you avoided any kind of logical retort to my statements about WHY users wouldn't bother to steal, and said "It's SL so they will steal". If you think the community is low enough to steal shit all the time, no matter what the difficulty, why would you want to be a part of said community?
Looks like furry paradise.
It's pretty bad. Plus furries have to make fucking avatars that when in numbers lag like shit. So basically if you go into a big area and a furry or two come in and you don't have a good computer, you have to leave so their stupid avatars don't lag your client.
So if you steal something inside SL it can be worse than stealing say, a purse, or identity theft?
I don't remember saying that.
Basically, you avoided any kind of logical retort to my statements about WHY users wouldn't bother to steal, and said "It's SL so they will steal".
Neither I remember saying that. What I said is that in SL seems like there is some kind of "promotion" to stealing, since piracy is everywhere, and nobody seems to care for content creators except themselves.
If you think the community is low enough to steal shit all the time, no matter what the difficulty, why would you want to be a part of said community?
Because this is the only platform which has what I've been looking for. It's not fault of the platform, but of the content robbers around there. That's exactly what bothers me so much, and the cancer of the community. There are decent people, but they don't show up as much as those who don't seem to care about the effort other residents put in it. No offense, but from your comments you seem to be another content thief...

Okay, it's cool that you like Sl despite theft and all, but I'm saying why meshes wouldn't be stolen and you're saying "it will" because "It's SL" Report content theft instead of whining and doing nothing. Or does LL not hand out bans for theft? If they don't, that's stupid of them. If they do ban for theft, good for them. I'm not a content thief and I don't see why you think I am, considering my only SL account has everything to do with my job, all my L$ comes from my employer, I don't even know how to steal shit in the first place, nor do I see why people would want to steal, nor do I care to steal, and finally I'm in the chief builder on our island and am the one holding the master plan of the island. Oh, and I create my own content so I have my own character in game. Don't pick me out as a thief. Especially seeing as I never promoted stealing and am openly speaking against it, and giving reasons WHY PEOPLE WOULDN'T BOTHER TO STEAL. Answered in order.

Trust me, Second Life is Second Life. In terms of theft, it can be even worse than the real world.

You misunderstood me then. With this I said there can be more content theft than the real world, NOT that it is worse doing in one or another. It is stealing something after all. You misunderstood me then. With this I said there can be more content theft than the real world, NOT that it is worse doing in one or another. It is stealing something after all. Okay. Ding ding ding. BREACH's M4A1 rifle was copybotted and turned into a freebie, and now it is spread around. Was the object removed from the database? Hurrrrrrrr :v: And, for your information, reporting content is one thing, but finding out that the content has been stolen is another thing. Then that's LL's fault and they deserve to have shit stolen for that reason. Because maybe you're like saying something out of place to every reason I try to give? No I don't, and even if I was that's not a valid reason to flag someone as a thief. It doesn't make sense in the slightest. Oh, really? Ya rly Dumdidum. It rips what's being displayed on screen and saves it to a file. It does so with directx applications (the opengl one is installed on another computer that currently has a virus). I only use if for getting models off roms (which I use for personal fun and only using roms that I can legally have.) I've never tested it with SL, and I don't even know if it's compatible. Just becuase I use something as an example doesn't mean I do it. And that post doesn't incriminate me in any way, shape, or form. I knew I posted that going into my previous post. To get rich, ruin the creator, or just being a plain bastard that wants to make money with zero effort. I'm saying here that I don't see a reason in theft PERSONALLY. You misunderstood So do I, I'm not your typical newcomer. I'm a newcomer Yet you talk like Copybot never existed, and as I said before, drive my reasons to an off-topic subject. I've only heard of copybot. I don't know what it is, or where to get it. Quit saying that I'm trying to drive shit off topic. I've been saying from the beginning that people won't want to bother stealing meshes, and you ignore my reasoning for that. Good, makes reading easier. k Geez, this post got really long with so much answering. Answering that seems to be an attempt at incriminating, making a fool of, or bash me. You ignore the technical aspects for reasons why people wouldn't want to bother ripping that I've been posting and have proceeded to say that I'm a content theft when, like I said, wouldn't know how. My boss has been using SL for much longer than I, so I'm fairly sure that if I stole anything using HER OWN MONEY, I would be caught. I wouldn't risk my position for something so stupid as stealing content in SL.
I used to be so addicted to SecondLife. The majority of my user friends over there don't log in any more, so I stoped playing. Making new friends is a bitch. "Hey" - Me "Wats up?" - Other person "Uh... Nothing, how about you?" " nM NM u knoe! " " Are you sure you are 18 or older?" " wats dat? " So yeah... Flying into people's houses that you don't know and don't own and pretending you own the place is fun :D
