So is there a base planner or does anyone have any tips for as successful base on island 1 more importantly island 2 [editline]12th April 2013[/editline] Is there a guide on how to patch the steam version anywhere?

I do know of the patch, but I have played the game already so much that I want something else. Does anyone know some similar games? I have played that flashgame on newgrounds but didn't like it.
It never occurred to me to check the official Rebellion twitter page... [IMG]http://i.imgur.com/fBYCJOq.png[/IMG]
Oh god.
Crikey. I really hope it's as good as the first. I'd like to see a deeper level of customisation, personally. A user-created Evil Genius avatar (and in turn, greater emphasis on the fact that you are the evil genius, perhaps more cutscenes and more use for the EG rather than just standing in the control room making sure minions don't collapse) and maybe customisable outfits for your workforce - I'd like to have construction workers wearing green and blue, and military minions wearing red, etc. Of course, the EG news could be "there is no EG2".
it's happening [editline]18th April 2013[/editline] i think it's happening [editline]18th April 2013[/editline] is it happening?
I remember making a base that had a system of traps which resulted in both enemy agents and tourists being stuck in an almost infinite loop. It wasn't that complicated and it got me so much money that I never needed to steal from the world map. :v:
Fuck time to re-install.
I will throw all my savings at an EG2 kickstarter and I'm not even joking
one thing i'd like to see would be the ability to take control over your evil genius and order your minions around semi-indirectly, maybe even shooting back yourself a bit. also going on missions and stuff... it would be cool if we could get an action evil genius, if done right. imagine actually being able to go on heists and stuff yourself to make sure they get done right. but it could be completely optional. i would like for them to broaden the spectrum of evil genius because all we have now are just the aloof, vain and megalomaniac kind of genius. like think about movies and such like the batman series for example, the later two being the best examples. both villians are evil geniuses with complete and utter destruction in mind. but they like to join in on the fun even though they're the brains. even though i'm the brains in evil genius, i'd still like to have a little fun.
being able to control minions would be cool... the only thing though is that kind of takes you out of your own head in a sense. by minions i assume you mean henchmen. it would be a bit wonky to be playing as a sassy black bruce lee to playing as crazy ivan. i'd rather play as myself. being able to bring henchmen along as personal bodyguards would be cool though if your genius isn't the combat type. the only thing though would be to accommodate this they'd have to rework the game entirely. the game would probably be more like xcom enemy unknown but with an actual base building element. but imagine having to actually have to put a heist together. purchase the explosives, bring demo experts and other minions along, arrange for a helicopter to pick you up on the roof... and those would all be one of many different options. all as you're watching from the roof of a neighboring building with two eccentric henchmen at each side. ready to swoop down and wreck shit if something goes wrong.
[QUOTE=NeoSeeker;40322106]being able to control minions would be cool...[/QUOTE] I completely disagree, the lack of henchmen control is a really important gameplay element. Direct control would wreck it, they should instead give you more tools to guard stuff without using level 4 doors. Stuff like patrols would be awesome.
well that's what direct control of your evil genius would be. also you can directly control henchmen, you can't with minions. also when using the evil genius's direct commands they'd still be vague, you wouldn't select a specific units, you could however select a specific class of unit to do something and the number of them you want on that job. it would be more like being an evil genius you see in the movies, ordering people around and shit, would be boss, especially during heists and shit. in fact the game would be much cooler if it was player centric rather than a top down view. you could still access all the menus and stuff (would give the command chair you can have in your inner sanctum an actual use...) also it would be a cool dynamic if like the power went out or something in your base and backups failed. you'd have to gather a cadre of minions and either order them to fix the problem or have them march to the problem with you.

Consider: the fact that we never really see anything of the minions other than their name, and the fact that when promoted they just leap up and change clothes and face - it gives the feeling that they're expendable little ants that we can order around at will which is very important to gameplay. Giving us direct control over minions also gives us an incentive to keep them alive, which is definitely not in keeping with the mindset of the game. We have this feeling that we are the aloof sky-god casually ordering people to their deaths and giving the little people we order about any degree of direct player control takes away from that, which I think is a key part of being the evil genius. We're doing evil things to our own end, even if it's only in a computer.
God I loved this game, but I thought I was the only person that ever played it.

(you could do that in the first game, every henchman starts out with a gather minions ability)

This is killing me, ive still got my disk copy siting behind me
So I always had trouble in EG2. I always wanted to play the game without gaming/exploiting the system. In the end I usually get bored and enable all-objects cheats though. I love dotting disguised sentry guns around the map

I've lost count how many times seeing a thread about EG on Facepunch has made me reinstall this game. Either way today just added to the total. Cracking game, now to see if I can get the Mrs to play it and understand why it's such a masterpiece of a game.
