Planetside 2 V6 - VS capped Indar? It's more likely than you think

Kinda sad but happy?
I mean its arguably one of the only redeeming factors of the LA class, making it take more than one means you spend a huge amount of infantry resources to effectively do nothing (as you can't ever deal more damage than what the C4 provides as a LA). But maybe it'll mean C4 becomes better at finishing tanks off rather than outright killing them, so good for "vulturing" injured tanks.
I'd be cool with the above if they make it so the C4 are responsive, so you can literally just quickly place and go instead of what happens now where it takes you a full couple of seconds to between bricks and then after you've placed everything it takes a few more seconds before your button pressing animation even bothers starting. This really sucks because it means you can't get in an out in battles (it's extremely unlikely you'll successfully C4 a tank in an area with multiple tanks unless you are literally super high up), which means C4 is pretty much only useful against tanks that are by themselves or unnoticed at large
I'd also like them to drop the price to about 75 res/C4 if they do the above too, because if you play a class actively with C4 you pretty much exclude yourself from getting any other grenade type, from using max units, etc which sucks
Is planetside 2 still worth playing? I have 10+ gigabytes worth of updates in queue and I would rather not install that unless the game has become miles better than when it was in mid-2012.
honestly i never really got the point of infantry resources for anything other than MAXes, it kinda seems like something that's there just to be there (and i'm guessing it was in the first game?)
it doesn't really seem to add anything to the game
i guess the argument would be that it stops people from "spamming" stuff like c4 or AP mines, but i don't get how
there's nothing stopping me from blowing up people with 2 c4 then respawning a minute later and killing people with 2 more c4

Mid-2012? The game was still marked a beta until November, and even then a lot has changed since the release and even that is an understatement.

And that is exactly why they are revamping the resource system.
I flew out of the warpgate after deciding that I'd like to actually fly a plane for once. I almost immediately got locked onto and shot down, so I spent the certs on flares.
Like, why the hell would one use anything but flares.

Great, now it's only meaning is to kill MAXes (TR and NC ones, mainly, ZOE maxes are too mobile) and infantry. Who've been already crying about it since the dawn of times.
They might as well remove LA from the game entirely, it's only purpose now is to be shotgun fairy that can occasionally drop a MAX or kill a group of infantry (who will then immediately respawn). I don't mean that can't occasionally break, say, tower defense, but it just got even more situational.

assuming it actually blows up instead of bugging out and disappearing or just refusing to do damage
I wish they got rid of the bugs which have been around for ages but are a huge pain in the ass, the C4 bug is an example but the medkits not restoring your health while still being consumed is incredibly annoying as well, even more now that they cost a lot more.
Why'd they change C4? It's rare enough to get a Heavy Assault to blow up a tank, C4 was the only thing between you and not getting vaporized by a tank.
Instead of nerfing, maybe they should just fucking fix it.
It's not even working 80% of the time.
if you give the person the time to lay down both c4s, you deserve to get blown up
Those two tanks that got drop podded must of been real scrubs lords then.
It's not like tanks don't get punished for being c4'd, it brings them down to insta kill by single rocket range of health.

Well then maybe, just maybe, the problem lies within, you know, drop pods that allow you use your utilities the second you get out of them?
Double C4 tank, blow it, wait for engineer to get out and repair, pop him, you get your kill, tank burns and explodes, you get your vehicle destruction points. Same result, it's just not instant anymore.
What would be nice though is if vehicles slowed down when on fire. That way you may not be guaranteed a kill anymore, but you can still take them out of the fight, if only temporarily.

Problem is that could create an imbalance between Tanks. Magriders would be slightly okay with the boost though.

It's very easy to miss a player sneaking up on your tank - there's no footstep sounds, and if there were, they'd get drowned out by the sound of the tank's engine. Proximity radar doesn't seem to be the most reliable thing around - sometimes it misses players in plain sight.
I'm glad for the change, because C4 fairies suck to fight while in the Prowler. If you deploy, you have to wait to undeploy, during which you're rooted in place and vulnerable to C4 fairies.

I just think that one-hit-kill weapons are collectively bullshit. It's no fun to get killed by a instagibbing c4 as a MAX just because your AI weapons have such a long time-to-kill and/or are incredibly inaccurate even at point blank range.
The minimap, I found, is actually useless in big fights, since it picks up your allies and enemies, regardless of the elevation they are at. So you can actually sneak more easily when the place is crowded than when it's not.

I have the basic level of Proximity Radar on my Lightning, and half the time it just doesn't seem to work at all when it comes to detecting players.
[editline]17th July 2013[/editline]
Mind you, I'm zipping past groups of infantry at very close range, so they should be detected.

Perhaps a fire starting in different areas of the tank could have different effects.
Fire in the engine = slower speed
Fire in the Gunnery port = slow reload/ loss of accuracy / loss of projectile velocity (one or combination, whuteva floats your boat.)
Fire in the Cockpit = obscured vision for the driver or controls become less responsive.
Ideas of course but the ability to selectively cripple a tank would be pretty neat.

I was referring to the minimap, thank my lack of clarification.

Magrider turbos can get them around a near-by tree at the press of a button. They can fix them up and get them fighting in a moment's time. I'd rather those things go down with two bricks of C4 to the jets than them flying away Aladdin style, repairing and shooting me.
Fuck, I can't play PS2 for five minutes before my entire system freezes up and I have to hard reboot.

Just get rid of or rework the goddamn drop pods already

Well to be fair, Magriders don't really have much else going for them at the moment. Maybe being on fire could just disable their turbo.
After reading through your comments we have decided to go back to the drawing board on implants
Even though I wasn't quite as apprehensive of implants as some people were, I like how they're able to accept that the community didn't like what they were doing and are willing to attempt to change it.
Personally I didn't have a problem with them, but it would be nice if they weren't timed purchases.
I think they should still be consumable, but should last until replaced by another implant.

Typical.

Personally I think they were pretty terrible, boosts being limited are understandable, game play factors being limited and requiring you to constantly repurchase is absurd.
I think The Octagon might be my favourite base.

That's going to be a real slaughter trying to cap.
