Planetside 2 V6 - VS capped Indar? It's more likely than you think
insert generic post about how the empire i play isn't op but all the other empires are
throw in some unreliable anecdotal experiences you had one night
and you got a pretty standard official forum
Please do not talk about shit that you have no knowledge of, it's rare for vanu to not have 80%+ pop at at night, it's been like this for months.
I guess it really all comes down to population control.

well at night hardly counts
it only takes like one active outfit to carry on when most people have logged off to skew the pops.

This is after TR and NC outfits have tried making counter pushes, and it's still bad during the day, usually hovering around 38-40.
I hate going against VS because all of the Vanu on Waterson are super hardcore and are BR90+
Also both of their empire-specific tank secondaries are kind of OP
Is it just me or are the VS completely over-powered? Every time I've played ps2 for the last three weeks, if the VS even try at all to push us back (I'm NC) then they completely obliterate us, by number's, vehicles, max suits, air offense, tactics (usually just zerg rush), everything. Is this occurring on all the servers or just mine? (I'm Matherson) Sometimes I just don't even want to try taking an Amp station or a Tech Plant due to the absolute obliteration that ensues, even if we get into the last minute or two of taking the facility, they end up flipping the point and there's nothing we can do. It's like, we're either ghost-caping, or we're loosing a fight against the Vanu. Every time. Maybe it's just gotten worse since they've added Alerts, cause the Vanu just zerg that shit. And the NC and TR don't seem to do much about it, or (possibly) can't do anything about it. I don't know, this is just how I feel. I'd love to hear that the Vanu have no more advantages to winning in the game than the other two factions, but it's honestly getting to a point where I feel like that cannot be true.
Its funny because for most of the time on matherson the vanu were generally underpop yet we still tended to hold our own when the main outfits were on.
The big issue with matherson right now is that the largest terran outfit on matherson disbanded and switched to other servers/stopped playing, NC's goons stopped disbanded and a lot of them ended upnjoining GOKU on matherson (which is a vanu outfit) and then the ZoE update hit which made retarded 4th factioners play on vanu becausenthey thought zoe was op or someshit. Then they ended up never leaving vanu even after zoe nerf because by this time vanu had already acrued a big pop advantage in relation to tr/nc on top of already being a very competant faction to play as that is full of outfits that regularly like to work together and would often operate underpop.

When the fuck are you playing, I have never seen vanu being anything but at least a close second in pop, and almost always the main pop.
I'm saying a few months ago before all the major outfits on NC/TR disbanded/joined vanu/joined other servers Vanu was almost always underpop compared to NC/TR. Not by a massive amount, only around 3-6% less usually but still signifigant enough.
On miller, the population hovers at almost exactly even, with at most a 4% imbalance :v:

I remember the good ol' days on mattherson when all the NC had to worry about was the TR which would always turn into very fun and tactical fights while the VR just buzzed around backcapping because that was all they could do. now you can't play for more than 10 minutes without having the VS zerg swarm over every map like a plague, and god forbid there's a fucking alert happening.
I can't really remember the last time me and my outfit actually had a legitimate fight with the TR that was longer than 5 minutes before the sky filled with scythes and the vanu poured in.
I'm sure the VS in general are not more powerful than the other factions, but on Matherson... ho ho ho... sometimes it's just impossible. They're numbers are off the charts. Every other guy I fight will be a max suit with zoe. and there will literally be 3 or 4 of them to one of my platoon mates. Maybe they're just more organized...
Most of Mattherson's good NC outfits vanished, while most of the VS ones are still around. This leads to a significant organizational (as well as numerical) advantage. Having less of your force tied into the zerg of retarded infantry helps a lot.
I haven't played PS2 for months because of the complete lack of metagame and the state of Mattherson. Would love to be able to transfer servers or something.
Also speaking of Mattherson VS, there was an amp station alert with just a few minutes left on the timer, 1 base left to cap to break the tie, which we luckily we already were capping due to the gate shield diffusor. Suddenly the TR pulled about 50 lightnings and charged them into the amp station in a straight line to the cap point, 3 sundies of different outfits formed a goddamn wall to block all of the lightnings from getting to the cap point, it worked and we won the alert with 15 seconds to spare.
If they just gave everyone server transfer tokens that you can use once every 6 months or just buy extra tokens like you can in WoW then that would easily solve pop imbalance issues I'd suspect
I know our outfit would probably like to transfer to woodman or other such servers from vanu matherson, and I'm sure theres plenty of people on overpop factions on other servers that would like to transfer to NC/TR matherson
They need to do some kind of server-transfer incentive program. Like if you transfer to an underpop faction you get some kind of one-time boost or some kind of special helmit/camo/armor of your choice to encourage switching. But the incentive can only be recieved once to prevent people from switching just to get free stuff. Unless they only do it as a special event, i.e. like them doing a server-balance event where people who switch to underpop servers from their current servers get some kind of bonus in this week long period, and if there are pop balance issues in the future they'll run an event again with different bonuses.

All of the people asking for server transfer tokens that I see are always asking for it because "My faction on this server is shit! I want to transfer to a server where they're the dominating force!". Judging by that, I'd say server transfers would amplify population imbalances on certain servers without a limitation or, as you say, an incentive to do the opposite. I'd wager that those are the problems that have been keeping server transfers off the table for so long.

At this point most of the people who were going "wah wah my faction sucks on <servername>, I'd like to go to <servername> because they dominate there!" already have spent some time on their toons on desired servers and realised that it sucks to be part of overpop faction.
I would've been happy with transfer tokens, my most played and certed char is on Woodman TR, and it quite frankly sucks to be there. Always sucked, but now especially, since a lot of decent outfits did quit it out of boredom.
i actually like playing nc matherson
makes you feel like you're actually beating the odds just by existing/capturing anything/defending
not that balanced populations would be a bad thing i just don't mind it as much as i should
Yeah, I agree there, when we win a fight it tends to feel a bit more victorious which is nice. But again, sometimes all we can do is ghost-cap or be chased by mass amounts of VS. Id still rather get demolished by VS than ghost-cap though.
I miss a good TR fight, but they're a bit more rare.
Fighting Vanu just annoys me. I like fighting NC way more. Just finished up repelling 3 different waves of NC at Aurora Materials on Esamir. But then an alert happened so we had to rush to help get Rashnu back from Vs who had set up isles of ZOE MaX units. And that's abut as far as I got before I quit.

Maybe the fact that they are playing a point and click adventure in FPS mode and have loads of ultra fast "please don't rape me" MAX units?
Oh stop it. ZOE isn't even that bad anymore.

lol
I'll take a NS bullet weapon on my VS char over any ticklebeam.
I SWEAR TO FUCKING GOD

zerg's and narrow roads don't combine very well.

i got flipped by a lightning once
in a vanguard
Should I start playing this game again? I haven't played since around open beta and had a lot of fun. Are there any improvements?

Don't forget the magriders. They're long since not OP, but something about them annoys the hell out of me.
Meybe the fact that it's VS first and last resort. Attack a facility? Pull 60 magriders. Loose a facility? Pull 60 magriders. I swear I haven't seen this kind of behaviour from any other faction on any server, yet VS do that everywhere.

They're annoying because they can dodge almost everything. It makes them seem more restant than they actually are since they're only taking a fraction of the hits any other tank would with the same amount of fire power aimed at them. I'm just glad I have my trusty phoenix.

do you mean the enforcer? The Vanguard tank's turrets have normal bullet speed I believe.
