Yeah I figured it would be like that, but I mean I'd like to see how having a large open area but only small sections able to be walked on plays out. You can't cross the water, so everybody on either side is going to be focusing fire on the narrow bridge. It's going to be hell to cross the bridges. EDIT: [thumb]http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/1961/qiqd.jpg[/thumb] What the hell... where's the base?! According to the map it should be right- [thumb]http://img585.imageshack.us/img585/7956/4ord.jpg[/thumb] Ohhhhhhhhh.
We Ewoks now.
[thumb]http://img585.imageshack.us/img585/7956/4ord.jpg[/thumb] Ohhhhhhhhh.
tree bases are amazing but god those panels are ugly also when you see the stupid amount of detail on the bottom of generic panels that no one will ever see you realise why the game is so unoptimised
I like the atmosphere in Hossin.
I like the atmosphere in Hossin. -the atmosphere in hossin-
Thanks for the wallpapers
Hossin restricted areas, credit to vanulabs with his clientside admin craziness.
Only thing I hate about Hossin right now is that it takes for fucking ever to get anywhere.
Only thing I hate about Hossin right now is that it takes for fucking ever to get anywhere.
I like that. It matches the environment really well. It also adds a lot to tactical gameplay because now you have to try to avoid being late to reinforce a battle, getting bogged down in rough terrain and ambushed, or actually set up said ambush. I could see this map discouraging super zerg stalemate fights simply because outflanking would be so easy to do in all the fog and bush cover. Needless to say I can see Light Assaults and Infiltrators being the bread and butter of Hossin. A group of LAs with C4 could easily break a small armor column if the armor gets jammed up in some of those super tight passageways over the hills.
What camo pattern blends in the best for Hossin?
Anyone?
Anyone?
Something greenish-brown. Just preview the camos and decide.
I guess the India Scrub camo from the starter weapon pack is finally going to be useful. But more probably I'll just keep running around with no camo because every single one looks terrible on TR.
Anyone?
Some of the Amerish patterns should fit nicely.
For some reason I've been under the impression that Hossin was going to be a volcanic ashland with lava and craters everywhere. I'm fine with what it is, but what a weird thought.
That would be a interesting map.
For some reason I've been under the impression that Hossin was going to be a volcanic ashland with lava and craters everywhere. I'm fine with what it is, but what a weird thought.
That's Searhus, the one coming after Hossin. Decent overview of some of the bases on Hossin. I didn't even notice the basement area at Nason's Defiance.
I cannot wait for Searhus. Coming from a Unreal Tournament background where quite a few maps in the franchise were scorched earth with tons of lava makes me giddy with excitement.
I just hope hossin is like indar in the sense that each base and area you fight in feels like its own place instead of all feeling the same. Indar suffers from "all the bases are prefabs" but the environment more than makes up for it, which is why its so much more interesting to play on compared to Amerish. Amerish looks nice, but the combo of having prefab-bases almost everywhere, and the fact that once you've been to one area in Amerish you've been to them all, makes all the territory you fight over just feel the same and all the fights feel the same. It doesn't really have much of a personality to it, and it makes it boring to fight in for me. I'm hoping Hossin has the environmental-variedness that makes each location memorable that Indar has, and the improved base design of Esamir (speaking of which, its a shame Esamir is still hardly played at all... the base designs are awesome but they went a bit overboard making every base super walled up, and also by putting tons of clutter everywhere making it really dense for a map that wasn't supposed to be).
Announcement for European players. PTS is going to host a cross-server event on August 11th. Miller VS Woodman VS Cobalt. Refer to these Reddit posts for further information: if you are a Miller inhabitant if you are a Woodman inhabitant + overall info on the subject if you are a Cobalt inhabitant In short, outfits of Miller, Woodman and Cobalt will invade PTS to settle some scores and decide, which one of the servers is the best, once and for all. Each server population has decided what faction they are going to represent. Miller as NC, Woodman as TR, Cobalt as VS. To clear some inconsistencies between three diffirent reddit posts and bring some clarity on how it seems to actually go: if you are interested to take part in the event, make a character of your server's faction, and name should follow this pattern: <your regular live nickname><your outfit tag>, for example, KimJongDICK, KimJong being your character's name, DICK is the outfit tag. Then find a way to join a specially created server outfit, for Miller it's [MILR] or [MILL], it's kind of unclear... Don't forget to spend each and every cert on your newly created toon, accumulate consumables and resources. August 4th seems to be the test run to prove server stability.
Anyone?
Nothing has the right greens for it, which they'll probably fix via some nasty swamp patterns in a month. Use whatever. I'm going with Amerish scrub.
Charging an enemy held amp station to this feels so amazing.
As I predicted, some drama may as well emerge during the clash of the servers. This post here is funny. Woodman outfitters claim meeting Miller platoon on PTS last night, and how stupid we were. When in reality, "Miller platoon", while talking on TS3, had no organisation at all - everyone from diffirent outfits, let alone diffirent factions. We were derping around facilities, I was pretty much learning to fly a battle galaxy properly, others having fun with NC weaponry. When we faced guys from Woodman, we decided to fuck about some more and everyone became medic, as none of us had BR10 to use squad beacon. What happened of that, Woodman outfit players decided that Miller players are shit.
Charging an enemy held amp station to this feels so amazing.
I bet it was. I participated in a charge once, suddenly someone started playing ride of the valkyries as our Reavers started flying in. Some epic shit.
Vanu Sovereignty's helmets apparently don't do much for their vision. I was wandering around a building in a MAX, when a Vanu Heavy suddenly charges in the door. I stare at him for a moment, he looks back at me, walks around the room, pauses a bit, then goes back outside. I say "Affirmative". I give him three seconds, then he barrels back into the room and tries to kamikaze me with a rocket, so I minigun him. RIP, bravest Vanu warrior.
It's like that video when a NC LA in giraffe camo tricks a bunch of 10+ VS players that he is a teammate.
Incidentally, any more news on swords for Infiltrators?
Incidentally, any more news on swords for Infiltrators?
I hate how infiltrators are supposed to be the kings of indoor combat with their stealthiness and yet I can uncloak and whilst unloading my entire magazine into a heavies back he can just turn and one shot me with a shotgun. Give me a sword and I will show those fuckers what for.
though if the sword's hit detection is anything like the knife's, there'll probably still be a whole load more of shotgun blasts to the face awaiting
infiltrators are supposed to be the kings of indoor combat
no
no
is it the light assaults then
no
Think about the name. You don't play as a sniper or a recon you play as an infiltrator. That means your job is to get inside and do damage. The problem is that you can uncloak shoot the enemy from behind and they can just turn around and easily kill you during the process. If I have the advantage of surprise I aim for the head and unload what else is there I can do to win. Because of this I play Engineer primarily and fly. If I go down I swap to tank, repair friendly vehicles or swap to inf depending on the situation. If the infiltrator could do more for CQC like its name implies I would actually use it more. I am not saying infs should be able to one shot everybody up close but if I take someone by surprise from behind I should have far more a chance of winning the fight than I do now.
Infil's shouldve kept shotguns imho.
