Planetside 2 V6 - VS capped Indar? It's more likely than you think

Oh wow I'm such an pillock..
It was 3am gimme a break :suicide:
So I want to play this again because I actually own a computer that can run this over 20 fps. Any particular faction need-to-know knowledge? Any FPers play regularly?
I swear every faction has had a turn at being the dev favourite and "devs don't care about this faction."
Perceptually, yeah. Unfortunately they're still all broken in several respects because SOE doesn't understand how balance metrics work. Hopefully a couple universal balance issues will be addressed before they abandon it for EQN next year.
I love really close alerts. Tonight we had to cap Esamir, at 34 seconds left it was 43%/13%/43%, TR/VS/NC. At 10 seconds left we won with 46%/11%/41%. Very tough battles between us and the NC at every connecting base.

Apperently they are trying to make a complicated AI just for optimization. While I partially understand why, it still seems very strange they are putting so much effort into an AI which seems to be only used for testing (or they have plans for the AI later, but that doesn't seem to work for a game like PS2 too well)

Actually it's a very useful tool for the long run so that they can test the impact of new content with a larger scale and make constant optimization passes to the game.
It'll also open up the possibility for AI enemies for VR training, so you don't have to shoot at stationary targets there anymore.

I think at one point in the pre-beta period, they mentioned there might be PvE events, like all 3 empires banding together to fight off some sort of AI controlled enemy.

It's also something that players could be able to run like a stress test; a full simulation of a real battle so they can tweak their settings without having to actually be idle in one of those battles.
I need to get around to playing again, I always loved being an NC sniper, just something about the railgun snipers.
Also, they are very loud and I love that. Fuck suppressors.

NC: Hight recoil, high damage. Heavy tanks.
TR: Low Recoil, high ROF. Fast tanks.
VS: No bullet drop. Mixed bag for the rest. Friggin flying tank.
There's not too big of a difference between the factions, outside of art style an "Empire Specific" weapons/vehicles. Infantry weapons are fairly comparable across the board, with minor tweaks here and there to add a splash of faction flavor, but nothing too dramatic. The big differences in actual playstyle are:
Terran Republic) Generally use bullet-hoses with high rates of fire and large magazines. Special weapons include miniguns, rapid-firing grenade/rocket launchers, and similarly styled equipment. Empire vehicles focus on speed and consistent DPS.
New Conglomerate) Generally use slow-firing, heavy-punch weapons. Their signature weapons deal the highest per-shot damage, at a trade-off of having slower fire rates and being more difficult to control without firing in bursts. Special weapons include heavy shotguns and high-damage cannons. Empire vehicles focus more on armor and high alpha damage.
Vanu Syndicate) They have very easy to use weapons that occupy a middle-ground in terms of damage and fire rate. They have no bullet drop and very manageable recoil. The general faction philosophy is utility over "strength." Their special weapons include AOE energy projectiles (exploding disco balls) and quick-firing laser cannons. Their vehicles don't have the most firepower or the most speed, but they are extremely maneuverable and can pull maneuvers and get to places that the other factions have trouble with.
All that said, it's really not a huge difference between factions, especially if you're just looking at playing infantry. While the factions have their own traits, they all have weapons available that can bridge the gap between themselves and the other factions, so you won't notice a huge difference outside of art style and special units.
Are there any NC outfits on Waterson looking for a decent sniper/AV engineer?
Oh god it feels so good to be a sniper and clear off the walls of outposts/#reck medics/pick off idiots to help a push.
This is what infiltrator is for.

Phoenix Battalion is always looking for experienced players.
Our CO though is an 85 year old hard ass veteran, so just be prepared.
Although you'll probably be dealing with Snow Sheltie/Mitherin a lot more often and they're both pretty chill unless Sheltie's had a bad day.
Sheltie does the training sessions and handles the OPFOR events that we have, Mitherin is usually leading the platoon during prime time.
I can't make training at all because I live in the UK :(
Bought the NC Stalker SR for my infiltrator a few days ago.
No regrets.

Huh, well I'll definitely look at them. Hopefully they're not another "HURR INFILTRATOR USELESS GO LIGHT ASSAULT, OMG WHY ARE THESE TERMINALS NOT HACKED? WHY IS NO ONE INFILTRATOR?"
Also, 300th post, oboy.

That's how your outfit was? Mine kept getting buttmad at me for being LA, despite how much havoc I was causing and how many points I flipped single-handedly. A handful of LA flanking your enemy can go a long way...
I've started playing again, stopped in May this year. The framerate is much much better for me, even toh the new MAKE FASTER GAME isn't even launched yet. Also I tend to kill more people and die less often, before, when attacking a biolab. I died 3 times and got 1 kill, not I actually manage to get 3 kills before I die. Earlier today, at the crown, I even managed to kill 16 people before dieing in a magrider.
I do tend walk into a group of BR 100 TR's with shotguns just as I am reloading. Holy shit so much BR 100 people.
At some point, I want to just see a full platoon, everyone the same class.
An ENTIRE platoon of AV MANA turrets, all lined up beside eachother.
48 rockets all at once, lets see the magriders dodge that :v:
Or just a wall of standard turrets on top of a hill to mow down infantry.
An entire platoon of heavies, all of them pop their armor and rush inside a base, shotgunning everything.
Imagine how fucking effective that would be, seriously, why don't we have 48 AV turret platoons? That'd destroy vehicles.

Been part of something similar, not quite all one class but we set up n a hill as striker heavies, AA maxes and AV engies with a few medics. Right between a NC and Vanu zerg. So many rockets. We were finally pushed off by a Vanu buttload of air just suicide bombing us.
Well, if focusing too hard on any one thing, it's possible you'll be destroyed by another. Plus, you can waste effort overkilling certain things, and not on capturing the actual objective.
But yes, a larger group of some weapons is very effective. Especially if that weapon has a broad range of use (like lancers, strikers, and AV turrets).

I still haven't seen a full squad of heavies running around nuking tanks and this disappoints me greatly

I've tagged along with [VG] infantry zergs on Mattherson.
The sound of 50+ Strikers and Fractures firing simultaneously is truly a beautiful sound.

I love the sound of dakka in the morning.

There are about 20 scythes in that ball, you could even drive a magrider on-top of it.
a platoon of phoenix heavies would be fun as well I guess as you would see rockets chase down vehicles or just snipe down infantry all the time.
[editline]10th October 2013[/editline]
except for the fact that the 300m limit kinda screws you up as you'll be close to the enemy than with a striker or any other RPG.
Hnnnhhnngggg
I fucking love the Longshot.
Not gonna lie, I don't really like the way they made each empire have a rough equivalent of each weapon (IE: Longshot, parallax, RAMS), I wish they would make the weapons more unique, fitting with their Empires ideology. It takes some of the difference away from the empires.
But the Claw is still the best shotgun.
Also, oh fucking god, TR infantry have such horrible awareness, as soon as they get out of their tanks, they never even notice me taking potshots at them
Period.
Hmm, I feel like a quick session of planetside would be nice right now
