hopefully O:MGF will allow more people to run high settings.
infils stick out like a sore thumb with the shimmer they have on high.
also, im excited about the bolt action changes.
coming from someone who isnt a sniper.
I'd love to see you try and spot one (that you haven't already seen) at anything other than close range when they are invisible. At close range they probably have an SMG so while you are scrambling to get a bead on them they are lining the back of your head up in their sights - firing as soon as they turn visible again.
I can honestly say I do it all the time. I don't know what graphics settings you're on, but on medium it's incredibly easy to spot the shimmer up to about 20 meters. Also listen, you can hear the cloaking sound from a fair distance away. As soon as you hear it, go into super defensive mode. Check all corners, look everywhere, and hunt that fucker down. I also always play with a squad so at least one of us will always spot it before it can even do any damage. If you're playing alone, well there's your problem.
I've got no beef with infiltrators, really. They can kick serious butt against unaware loners and tunnel-visioned zergers, in capable hands, but anybody paying attention to their surroundings can drop 'em like flies. If they don't shoot first with their SMG, they lose almost every time. Yes, the cloak gives them an advantage in the shooting first department, but it also acts as a handicap in the sense that the cloak really isn't that hard to spot, and if you fire on them while they're cloaked, it's almost a guaranteed kill. Generally, if an infiltrator has managed to sneak up close behind you, then they've already earned the kill.
Also hoping for an M14 Banshee buff. Even a small one like bringing its ammo up to 50 per mag will do fine. Its currently pitiful compared to every other weapon in the game.

I can't believe the chaingun that fires explosive rounds isn't anywhere near as badass as the chaingun that fires explosive rounds in real life

Also, that brings me to my next point. They also need to change the firing sound to this

It's just so frustrating fighting something you can't even see until you're already dead.
I generally have no problem spotting and murderizing cloakers, usually the only time they kill me on a regular basis is when I'm reloading my Strike or half dead anyways.
What pisses me off about cloakers are those fucking NC and VS cloakers that run into a group of players, decloak for an instant to toss a mine, then cloak and run off. They get 3+ instagib kills for pretty much zero effort. Even if you kill them, they still usually drop the mine and end up killing your allies.
If you shoot the mine to try and destroy it, you'll probably teamkill your allies.

interesting
snipers only cull the stupid
if you're having a problem with them perhaps you need to rethink how you're playing
I love the new chrome camo.

really neat indeed. That way you can just get a lot of galaxies, only fill up 3 and have the rest work as cannon fodder when there's fucktons of AA.

It's always the ones you don't hear that you have to worry about. Same goes for Planteside. But GOD DAM THAT NOISE! If there was very a situation were I could die laughing it would have to be this some how.
Liberators are the closest I can imagine to the effect the sound has of A-10's. Obviously it isn't a giant minigun, but the sound of shells being shot constantly is enough to make everybody stay at spawn or get the fuck inside anything.

I think the update is live already. I'm downloading 1.7 GB (can't say anything about the server yet though)

I think I am late as well.
Yes, they finally fixed the Engie turret jamming problem. That has got me killed so many times I have lost count.
Easily getting 40+ fps in battles that would give me below 20.
I just started replaying but I don't really know what to spend my certs on, do I get perks or weapons? Some of the default weapons see a bit weak to me...
In Biolabs I get 35+ fps with a few spikes every now and again that drop in down to ~30 fps.
THIS PATCH OWNS
I keep getting disconnected as soon as I join on woodman, but itseems others can play relatively ok :v:

Yeah was doing the same for me yesterday. Cleared up after awhile. I just went and watched TV for a bit and by the time I came back it was working perfectly fine. :v:
Servers are just a bit slammed at the moment, from what the devs are saying. Just go watch an episode of something and eat a hotpocket, you should be able to get on once everybody has stopped Three Stooges-ing the gates.
[editline]12th November 2013[/editline]
God, the forums are ridiculous right now. Everybody is kneejerking hard over this bolt action change.

I had no idea there was a change for bolt-actions, so I had to look it up. They're changing the OHK on a headshot range to 150 meters, right? I am always fine with the removal of sniping mechanisms with too much reach, as I strongly believe it defeats the point of games like this (battlefield included). On the other hand, the OHK was really the only reason to use a bolt-action over a semi. Don't see much of a point carry a bolt around anymore.
[editline]12th November 2013[/editline]
lol tons of snipers are quitting or vowing not to buy SC because of this change. Good. Stop crowding up my squads. Sniper infils are easily the most useless class/weapon combo in the game, yet irritate the hell out of so many people. Not going to miss them frankly.
Increased the drop speed of drop pods. They now accelerate as they approach the ground. Collision damage multiplier reduced to account for the higher pod velocity.
Neat.

Wait. So now a headshot isn't a guaranteed kill whilst using a sniper?
What knob jockey thought that was a good idea?
So this is the real optimization patch?
I'm pumped!

Past 150m no, snipers will need to 2-shot you.
This is what 150m actually looks like in PS2:

Past 150m it isn't. Within 150m it's a guaranteed kill.
Frankly, I think it's pretty silly - there are very few people who can reliably headshot at long range, especially against moving targets.
So the NC sniper is now entirely useless. Or at-least the very first sniper anyway after a certain point.
Seeing as the next sniper needs at-least 250 certs to acquire.
150 meters isn't very far at all. So to nerf the thing that badly. To me, seems like a terrible idea and makes the only class I even enjoy to play. A lot less fun.

Did the nerf the Vanu snipers? Their ridiculous snipers where they can just double tap for two headshots at any range was just stupid.

I've no idea personally. I've not had the chance to play using the latest patch.

So making them more useless is a good idea? Snipers can't even kill an immobile target firing an AV turret from a cliff against tanks now, and that's kinda a problem.
