BF3 had more of a sniper problem for me than PS2 does by a long shot.
Doh hoh hoh.
-Long constructive post-
You raise a very good point and I apologize. My English is very poor so there might be quite a few mistakes and misinterpretations of what I mean and what is typed. If that makes sense? Regardless. I shall try my best to explain my disposition on the subject. You are correct in regards to my response which is most likely noted in the way I structured my earlier posts in comparison to my latter posts. The initial posts were made whilst angry and somewhat through red tinted glasses I think the saying is. I am trying my best to explain what I mean and maybe that is a cause for the supposed hostility that you witness. However I guess all things considered, it is not entirely without right. They have a right to be somewhat angry at me and my posts and I can understand their point. I guess I'm just not that great at being able to convey my view across without seeming hostile back. I somewhat presume the Infiltrator as a Sniper namely because the main weapon and default is a Sniper Rifle of sorts, and the fact that a lot of the extra Cert unlocks at Sniper based, minus the handful of SMG's. However I still hold firm that the intention for a Infiltrator was that based on a concept of a sniper. Albeit changed to fit the ideals and end product dream for what they wanted that class to function as. Seeing Light Assaults, Medics and Engineer classes always leads me to assume that the Infiltrator is that of a sniper. Which you are correct. I could be entirely mistaken, making my posts probably entirely irrelevant or misguided. I stand corrected upon the real life snipers. It was more my attempt to convey my point with the idea of being behind enemy lines, causing random chaos to random players making them question but also for my own gain of attempting to hone my sniping skills. (As I play a Infiltrator as a pure sniper.) Which for some reason people seem to detest me for. Maybe detest is the wrong word, but I feel a lot of anger or demeaning tone (If you could put tone in text form anyway) from the replies that are within context to that specific snippet. Which in reality actually makes me a tad aggravated, as I'm sure it would to anyone else also. I understand my play-style is maybe considered odd or, stupid by some, but for me, to do it whilst having a relax before or after work so to speak, it works wonders. Mainly because I can immerse myself and somewhat lose myself into the universe of PS2 and the sniping aspect of it. I never intend at that point to bring a shortage to enemy numbers, it's just for fun. However when I play properly, be it with a friend or two on occasion I do my best to try and thin out the numbers. Albeit it temporarily in a vain attempt to help them push forward and take less fire and maybe, less casualties during that push. I'm not sure WHY the devs chose to name that class Infiltrator if the initial intention was to create a class that was purely meant for a sniper, as you had said yourself. And I myself find that confusing but then it could be possible they merged a concept of a class with that of an existing one, hence Infiltrator. Or it could be as simple as the fact that it's playing off how Snipers were behind enemy lines so to speak. I've no idea. OR maybe the alternative is that Infiltrator wasn't based for sniping, but was a good option to load off the sniper rifles too as it was semi fitting and the Infiltration part of the class was there beforehand and was expanded upon after rather than vice versa. I would also like to strongly state that I never implied I knew better. I've worked for Games Companies and understand that a lot of work goes into games and the assets that it's build around and with. I made it quite clear, and stated clearly if I recall that I said it's my opinion. My opinion just like anyone elses is a value I stand up for, as would anyone with an opposing value. So I guess me seeming self righteous about it may come across, albeit it unintentionally. In my mind a class that has a lot of basis around a sniper - Sniper rifles and cloak ability and sat in light armor for maneuverability - to me reinforces the idea that the class is a sniper and built to BE a sniper. Right or wrong is entirely up in the air, but that's the beauty of opinions I guess. We all can have one and free to express it. So with that in mind. It being set in my mind as a sniper, makes me believe even more strongly, that the decision to put that limitation in. Is very counter productive. Hence my reaction in the first place, and subsequent debate that erupted there after. I just believe that a piece that is in the works is always best helped with feedback, and my feedback would be that the current design choice is one that would be best left out.
I've never known anyone to write so much that said so little we get it you like sitting on top of a hill 200m away and killing the odd afker before work
I've never known anyone to write so much that said so little we get it you like sitting on top of a hill 200m away and killing the odd afker before work
See, your arrogance just proves my point. Constructive debates go a long way. Attempting to be witty. (And failing horribly by the way) Just proves to me you either are incapable, or unwilling to talk and debate without resorting to childish antics or retorts.

I give up with you. :v:
i made an edit of your post with all the crap taken out
Succinct.
I've made friends with someone else who is also dutch in my platoon, and damn, it's much more fun when playing with friends. It's so much easier to communicate, and crazy fun when fighting crazy battles.
Does the Desperado fire two rounds simultaneously, or is it just a quick burst? I'd heard that the NC had a shotgun pistol, and this is the only one I see that fires more than one projectile.
It fires a two-round burst. The shotgun pistol hasn't been released yet.
It fires a two-round burst. The shotgun pistol hasn't been released yet.
I'll have to save up for it, then!
I'll have to save up for it, then!
Well you probably have plenty of time because there's been no indication that it's going to be out any time soon.
Oh my god, Planetside was atmospheric before but now it's absolutely enthralling. Being in the middle of a battlefield with my FPS above 20 is such a great feeling! And are the attenuated battle sounds in the distance a new thing? I've never noticed them before but they're awesome.
I couldn't care less about the infiltrators sitting up on the cliffs plinking at me. They're never going to hit me and if they do there's usually a medic close enough to revive me before they've managed to cycle another shot anyway. What pisses me off the most in this game is C4. Legit. I just destroyed a critical sundy yesterday with utterly no effort on my part. Taking out heavy vehicles like that should require a little bit more teamwork than like 2 guys and a flash.
Being a sniper doesn't really mean much when a nearby medic can duck behind a rock and revive the guy at full health in a few seconds Also, I'd highly recommend the autorepair for the MAX, even the first level is hella useful for when you get stranded without an engineer, since you can just hide in the corner until you're healed. And speaking of MAXes, are the TR and Vs MAXes as crippled as the NC MAX when it comes to range? I know that the NC MAX is supposed to be geared towards close range as opposed to longer range, but it's really shitty up close because of the low mag size and long reloads on it's shotguns, and I was wondering how they stack up to the other factions.
I dunno about VS but TR maxes are pretty effective at range, and not only for supressing, you can reliably get kills at medium range with double chain guns.
opinion

Player movement speeds are 6.5m/s (sprinting), 4m/s (walking), 3m/s (strafing), 2m/s (crouched walking), 1.5m/s (crouched strafing). A human head is around 140mm wide, a helmeted head ingame is about 200mm head-on. You have about half of that when making most shots since you'll aim for the center, not knowing what way the enemy's head might move between then and the shot arriving. So, let's assume for a minute that we're snipers who can make perfect shots based on linear enemy motion- if the enemy moves on one path at one speed, the shot will connect in the center of their head every time. The question is, at what ranges will a deviating enemy action taken at the time of the shot make that shot miss?
That's basic geometry, not an opinion. Anybody who claims that they're using "skill" to get incredibly long-ranged shots in this is lying about their abilities or what they're hitting, because assuming actual pseudorandom motion you become useless very quickly even with the best rifles in the game. I get liking being able to kill a guy at 500m and I did it before but that sort of shit was always pure chance or idle enemies, get over it.
Oh my god, Planetside was atmospheric before but now it's absolutely enthralling. Being in the middle of a battlefield with my FPS above 20 is such a great feeling! I've never noticed them before but they're awesome.
Yeah I'm kinda in love with how battles look from above now, which I'm sure is because I can float up there on Ultra with 110-130 FPS and just watch shit happen. The only thing I dislike is the fact that bloom is tied to the "graphics quality" setting and not a standalone option or tied in with the lighting quality one. Spawn room shields and other glowy stuff look pretty terrible at night right now.
I dunno about VS but TR maxes are pretty effective at range, and not only for supressing, you can reliably get kills at medium range with double chain guns.
VS MAX has pretty similar options. I know from experience you can kill guys underneath a biolab landing pad from the top using our least accurate weapon and bursting. IIRC ZOE makes it even easier because you can increase the damage of the most accurate claws for midrange stuff. That and Comets have no drop and can be spam fired a bit like a giant Lasher.
after playing around for a couple days i can say this patch is pretty much everything i wanted. i got roughly a 400% fps increase at amp stations(used to get 15-16 in big fights, i got 70 in a huge three way at an amp station yesterday!) and a 200-300% increase everywhere else which equates to 60fps+ now i can run ultra flawlessly however i still turn off shadows because vanu.
When the hell are they going to add the swords so I can finally buy a Chainsword on my TR guy. [t]http://i.imgur.com/ZH9wgyD.jpg[/t] I'm only a few ranks from getting the Commissar title. TR has the Commissar Cap. I need my sword so I can finally be the hero that the Terran Republic needs.
Man, this patch really does seem to have brought back a ton of people. It feels a little bit like the launch month again.
Man, this patch really does seem to have brought back a ton of people. It feels a little bit like the launch month again.
I'd love to enjoy all the new people to shoot.
I really like this new patch, altogether the game just feels...better? I don't want to say something's change to make it punchier other than the new frames but it feels smoother and punchier. I also can fly reavers now. Yay.
So I found myself with a ragtag of other platoon members holding off a crossroads that led into the Splitpeak pass. I was an engineer and apparently the only one in the area. I found myself surrounded by heavies and maxes that were constantly running dry on ammo. I popped a box in the middle of a crater and they were all forming a fighting position around me. I managed to keep three maxes in the fight by constantly repairing and kept the heavies in the crater filled with ammo. We managed to hold off an armored push into the splitpeak. It took them forever to get wise and call down close air support where we were eventually withered down. I think I got like 30 creds.
Man this last patch is fantastic, I just reinstalled and it's such a huge improvement. I'm on all medium and I don't drop below 20 frames in the craziest of battles, get around 30 in most fights, and 40-50 in quiet areas. Oh and my bottleneck is my core 2 duo. :D
Did they nerf the Hawk GD-68, or something? This happens every time I shoot it. :v:
I doubt it's intentional. I had that issue with the Striker a while back, but this isn't even locked on.
I had this happen to me with my Annihilator when I tried to use it against tanks. It would arc up and then try to come down... Had no issues hitting aircraft though.
I just installed this on steam to install it in the launcher why
I doubt it's intentional. I had that issue with the Striker a while back, but this isn't even locked on.
that might explain why I kept seeing rows of red dots fly up straight into the sky right after the update where they made striker, phoenix and AV missiles visible for others. It looked like some sort of artillery strike, except for the fact that they never came down again.
