• Planetside 2 V6 - VS capped Indar? It's more likely than you think

should i buy the desperado? i mostly play HA with the anchor. i figure it might be useful considering i never use my pistol unless my mag runs dry mid fight and need something that shoots yesterday.
I tried the desperado a bit in the VR and it feels quite nice actually. I might get it, as it's just a good secondary with fairly high range for a pistol, which would suit me well with my shotgun.
Pretty much everyone I know who bought the Desperado wishes they didn't.
Holy shit, just had an amazing 'Capture Everything' alert on Esimir - Briggs. The NC had a huge head start compared to us (TR), and VS were just fucking about with like 7% as usual, being nothing more than a small annoyance throughout. So it was basically a 2way battle between NC and TR. We sent the full force of pubs at one area to distract the NC, then sent a 12 man squad around to back-cap the NC while they were distracted. It worked, and we caught up to them. After that it was basically a tug-of-war for about an hour. The alert ended with TR winning by about 3%.
I popped my 7850 back in and my CPU became the bottleneck again. But the framerate is, I swear to you, doubled in the high population fights. I've gone from a consistent 20fps in an amp station fight, to 45 and 50. It never dipped below 40. I can actually keep people on my screen in close engagements now
Got chased by a Scythe last night in my Mosquito in the Indar canyons. To deny him the satisfaction of a true kill, I arced my mossie around a canyon into an extremely tight nook in the wall, whereupon I smash into the wall at 200kph. A second later, I see scythe debris spew into the nook because he tried to follow me :v:
An optimization patch? Looks like I have to install this again. Maybe after Christmas, though. I'm probably going to get a new GPU soon.
The new patch has drastically increased my performance. I can actually function in the bigger battles.
I got a noticeable increase but I still drop below 30 FPS in medium/large battles. It's probably because of my GTX 260 though.
it'd be cool if we get a weapon like this sadly enough it'll either be weak as shit or OP and nerfed to shit, or faction (TR) only

It'd be even more obnoxious in PS2. In PS1, I'd sit on top of walls with plasma or frag grenades loaded into my Thumper and just rain death on helpless attackers.
I'm getting a solid 56-60fps when flying/driving around, but I always forget to check during big battles. :v:
There are a lot of things Planetside 1 had that Planetside 2 could do without. The Thumper is one of these things.

Everybody said no, so thankfully they never saw the light of day.
do you have a picture of the thing itself? I wonder how it would look.

The marauder is legitimately bullshit. I can't tell you how many times my squad has just been casually destroyed by a passing harasser gunner holding his mouse down in our general direction. What makes it worse is how hard they fucked the NC in this regard - the enforcer? A mediocre shotgun for the buggy gunner? At least the Sauron has SOME use. Shotguns are so situational and you would be better off using the bulldog or something in close quarters anyway.
We already have way too many explosive spam weapons, as far as I'm concerned. What I wouldn't give for some sustained direct-fire main tank weapons for MBT's and Lightnings. Large machine guns and canister shot cannons and crap like that. Heck, just duct tape a basilisk or two to the sides of a lightning turret and saw off the cannon, and I'll be one happy camper. The only thing it really needs, in my opinion, is a much larger magazine and a much tighter choke/pellet spread. Give it 15-20 rounds instead of 5 and allow it to be effective at taking out targets up to 100m or so with multiple blasts, and you'll have a pretty fun weapon. Giving it moderate vehicle damage would be nice, too.

A harasser crashed while shooting at a bunch of us and landed on its roof, unable to flip itself over. What did the driver do? TURBO BOOST ENGAGED Fucking thing just slid at mach one across a base on its roof
I do this too when I flip over, and when you crash into something you usually flip back over.
I engage cloak when I flip over on my Flash-- that way nobody has to see my shame.
I'm so fucking sick of seeing the Vanu and NC work together on Waterson during alerts. I can't believe the devs allow this shit.
I'm so fucking sick of seeing the Vanu and NC work together on Waterson during alerts. I can't believe the devs allow this shit.
That's probably because TR has way too many soldiers on Waterson. Besides, what would the devs do? It's the players' decisions to work together.
I'm so fucking sick of seeing the Vanu and NC work together on Waterson during alerts. I can't believe the devs allow this shit.
Ahahahahaha. Waterson got hit by Totalbiscuit playing TR on it. It lead to a massive influx of TR players meaning each alert we got zerged and would just immediately lose. What's happening now is that the Vanu and NC aren't fighting eachother as hard, we're still taking territory from each other, but we know the only way to win is to obliterate the overpop'd TR.
Is it just me, or are the Indar alerts the best? Whenever there's an alert on the other continents/across all of them, it ends up being a population contest, but since Indar is pretty much always full anyway, the spread is even across all the factions. Last night on Mattherson, we actually had a perfect 33/33/33% split, whereas during some alert on Amerish, the Vanu had 50% of the pop

Shotguns are so situational and you would be better off using the bulldog or something in close quarters anyway.
My second night playing the game since my two or three month hiatus, I was in the vehicle bay of some tower being hit by the NC. It was one of those Esamir ones that you only can really approach from one direction, so the main meatgrinder was guys on one stairwell firing at guys coming through on the opposite side. I was on that opposite side's stairwell because a lot of guys were starting to drift in and hey, easy kills shooting dudes in the back. Around guy five I noticed my shields weren't regenerating. A bit confused, I looked around for a dude shooting at me and only saw guys with their backs to me trying to shoot up the other stair. I gradually realized I was being repeatedly hit by the same thing, but the damage was so low I had no idea what was hitting me. I asked my squadmates, and they suggested splash damage, something clipping through the level geometry, some dude who appeared to be facing away but wasn't, etc. I have no idea how long I was looking around for sources of phantom damage, but it was long enough to empty a Decimator. Then I noticed the Harasser nearby with a barrel pointed at me. You don't question if you've been hit by a Marauder or a Fury or a PPA or whatever. I legit couldn't tell I was being damaged by an Enforcer Mod indoors. That is not a shotgun, it's a comically large Febreze bottle. Squirt squirt.
All the Vanu are freaking about their Scythes and Magriders losing camo coverage, and demanding for it to be fixed, and blah blah blah. Higby came out and said:
Hey guys, sorry I'm just seeing and replying to this. What we are doing is creating some more cosmetic slots to give more customization options. We had some cosmetics that occupied some of these new cosmetic areas already, camo coverage is a good example. Maybe you liked having Indar Desert Scrub on your whole Magrider, but now it's only covering about half, the other half will be able to be set with a secondary camo slot in a near future update. Our plan is to grant the cosmetic items for the new slots to people who previously owned cosmetics that would have filled that area, so you will be getting a new "secondary camo" slot soon, and also camos for that slot based on what you already had. End result will be that you can create the exact same look as before, but you will also have flexibility to do a lot more. We are scrambling to get the items set up to grant so hopefully having a half painted Magrider is only a very short term annoyance.
And now people are bitching about that! Good GOLLY! It's literally just going to be allow you to equip a secondary camo, for increased personalization of your vehicles (which is pretty boss, tbh). "Great now I have to buy twice as many textures to make it look good!" "Greedy *** SOE is just trying to get us to buy more camo" Literally stunned.
On Indar the population seems to change between NC and TR being the tops, with VS usually in the rear. I've noticed players double teaming both NC and TR factions, depending on the day. What bugs me is when the group with the 2nd most population is double teamed by the other two, which seems pointless.
I'm so fucking sick of seeing the Vanu and NC work together on Waterson during alerts. I can't believe the devs allow this shit.
It's fucking hilarious how true this is i mean, sure every once in a while it just so happens that two factions end up ganking on the third but on waterson, that shit happens CONSISTENTLY, it's impressive. Once, i was fighting an NC zerg on amerish, when we had roughly 1/5 of the map. The NC could fight the vanu on like, 5 other hexes, but not a single one of them had people fighting they were both fighting us on these 2 hexes next to each other when the vanu zerg made it trough the other hex, they reached the one i was fighting in against the NC THE SECOND A SINGLE FUCKING MAG RIDER POPS UP, EVERY SINGLE NC UNIT AND VEHICLE PULLS OUT. It was ridiculous, one second we're fighting a massive NC zerg, then a respawn later, the vanu is replacing them. Edit: IT JUST FUCKING HAPPENED AGAIN alert goes on for one and a half hours, we're winning with roughly 45% territory on indar all the way trough, then suddenly VANU decides that it doesn't like TR, and NC is all like "well now i'm totally okay with that point of view" and suddenly we're anally butt fucked by both of them and end up with 20 something per cent losing the alert to the vanu god fucking damn it
