Since this optimization update, playing with everything high and above has caused my computer to start making buzzing sounds, I am pretty much forced to play with everything on low out of worry.
Since the performance update, I've been able to actually control the ESF without crashing into stuff unintentionally, it just feels more responsive now. However, I get massive lag spikes whenever I approach a tech plant and such.
yeah, flying with an ESF is much more doable now. I've had some nice runs with them already since the update.

So low my nuts were dragging, thinking I was the shit. Then an ammo resupply tower just appeared 10 feet in front of me and I slammed into it Then I imagine being one of the 20 people that saw me do that I switched factions

One time I was in a mossie looking for some ground targets to explode and a giant VS army didn't load until I was literally right on top of them

But I did knock it off course and it crashed crediting me with a kill.
On the topic of aircraft, I love being a heavy assault and spraying a burst of MG fire at a fighter and watching it freak the fuck out and immediately crash into a tree
On the topic of aircraft, I love being a heavy assault and spraying a burst of MG fire at a fighter and watching it freak the fuck out and immediately crash into a tree
Nothing feels better than getting 400xp for a kill that you contributed dick all to

Must have been pretty damaged, but man I imagine the guy being "Wait wtf?? He killed me with a rifle?"
On the topic of aircraft, I love being a heavy assault and spraying a burst of MG fire at a fighter and watching it freak the fuck out and immediately crash into a tree
Fun fact: 50% of my kills with an SMG are ESFs.
Fun fact: the aircraft on my server are cowards and run away as soon as they get hit by flak, or deploy their flares as soon as someone starts to lock them up It is however, fun to sit there and cause a fireworks show with my whatever the vanu SAM launcher is called
Why wouldn't an aircraft run as soon as its hit by flak???
it gets old after a while though
I took a pot shot at a Scythe with the default TR sniper rifle and apparently got the killing blow. Schaboom! Clearly I am MLG material.
Bleh, all the servers are down for me.
I took a pot shot at a Scythe with the default TR sniper rifle and apparently got the killing blow. Schaboom! Clearly I am MLG material.
Casual. I once shot a burning Vanguard with a sniper and it exploded from the burning damage a second later, awarding me a kill for the tank and the idiot inside :v:
By the way, the default TR sniper rifle is awesome. I dunno why everybody complains about it! It might suck for sitting on a hill 500m away, but you get within 100m or so and it beats all bitches (ALL BITCHES).
Servers locked. Okay.

I can't aim for dicks with perfect conditions, the more the framerate deteriorates, so does my aim. With a semi-auto rifle it's either Hit with your shots or die, and that's not easy at 25fps. Luckily the performance updates are helping, but not enough yet to bust out my Warden
On the topic of aircraft, I love being a heavy assault and spraying a burst of MG fire at a fighter and watching it freak the fuck out and immediately crash into a tree
Infantry seems to vastly underestimate its ability to deter ESFs in general, I see groups of them just stand by while the ESF pilots drift by lazily until they get hit by Flak or get a radar-lock or have already rocketed said infantry to oblivion. LMGs are a great deterrence to some pilots, and the ones that aren't scared off by them will shit their pants from even a small amount of dumb-fire rockets heading in their general direction. Dumbfires are a one-hit-kill to ESFs, and I've scored hits enough times to warrant trying it every time I see close air support. And whats great is that if you are hitting these ESFs enough with an LMG or something, and it manages to get killed by actual AA, you'll get ~200 or something XP just for the assisting.

The main thing I do is flying and the second I take any damage I judge the amount and direction making it easier to tell what is shooting at me. If you take damage the first thing to do is stay calm and quickly assess the situation. Being an aircraft you should expect to be shot at constantly and the fact so many pilots freak out the second they get hit at with continuous fire even if it is small arms amazes me. If I noticed that the person shooting at me is infantry I engage and I cannot even think of a time I have lost unless it is a squad of people setting me up to be taken down by a few maxes. This and dumb fire rockets are so easy to avoid unless they just get really lucky you never get hit by them. Also I use the fire extinguisher so even if I do get hit by dumb fire it usually does not take me out of the skies. Lock on weapons aren't hard to escape so using flares seems pointless to me. EDIT: Although saying this I will admit that if everyone with small arms fire started to just shoot at close enemy air it would make things quite a bit harder but thankfully not many people seem to.
For the love of God, no more artillery. The tanks do this job more than well enough. There are already way too many things in this game that promote sitting back and lobbing AOE spam weapons at infantry. [editline]18th November 2013[/editline] Buff the fuckin' Flash. [editline]18th November 2013[/editline] Remove its grenade launcher, fix its handling, and improve its other weapons.
I think the best solution is to have the cloaking device actually occupy the weapon slot, so you have to choose between cloaking and shooting. Also, don't see why it has to have such a long cooldown and cost 100 resources. I know you can cert down the cooldown, but cmon.
So I recently dumped certs into the infiltrator's sensor darts. It's amazingly helpful for sneaking around and getting the drop on people, and during big fights the free xp awarded for every single enemy that dies within 40m of each dart stacks very quickly.
You don't find that the large circle that appears on the mini-map alerts anybody to your presence?
it gets old after a while though
You're deterring enemy air away from the battle. That's your job as AA, you don't necessarily have to kill them.
You don't find that the large circle that appears on the mini-map alerts anybody to your presence?
Wait I thought the dart radius only appears to allies. Enemies can see it too?
They're inconsistent. I see them all the time, but also see ones that don't display all the time as well. The only thing I regularly notice is my own being visible and enemy ones being visible up to a certain population density. What is actually supposed to happen is beyond me.
Wait I thought the dart radius only appears to allies. Enemies can see it too?
They're even color coded for your inconvenience.

It's light thus far and a lot of stuff still in the works, but here's the high level thus far: Optimized Esamir (currently a disaster area, but we'll get there) More animation performance optimizations More UI performance optimizations Updated Freyr Amp Station for testing, but also a disaster area at the moment. Adjusted playspace around Amp Station superstructure to contain three different infantry courtyards with three cap points. Owning a courtyard cap point earns you a spawn room in that section of the Amp Station, as long as it remains yours. Moved main defender spawn room into Amp Station superstructure where the SCU once was. Defenders can leave the spawn room via the vehicle bay or through two tunnels linking to the ‘lower’ two courtyards. All items should be available on the Depot for testing Again, we’re still early in this development cycle, so expect more performance optimizations and bug fixes each build. Also expect that we’ll be introducing a few more bugs along the way, so help us out and report them via the in-game bug reports. Also, we’ll be resuming organized and regular play tests soon. We can only lose so many days in a row before needing a break. -Raxxyl
Gonna check it out and get some screens if I can.
