I unlocked A2A missiles for the Reaver. Going to put some more certs into the Reaver and try and do some CAP to change things up

Can I ride into battle with you?

Steve Blum is currently huddled in a corner crying in shame.
I should record my Battle Bus audio I always say as we ride into combat and get shot at.

Last time i played PS2 was more than a year ago.
How is the performance now compared to back then? Better? Worse? How significantly?

Considerably better. They just released a massive patch that has improved performance to a substantial degree across most systems.
I know this is probably frowned upon but I'm saving up some money to get some new components for my computer for Christmas.
Which cpu/gpu combo would you guys recommend to run PS2 atleast 30-45 in big battles.
Also, could you guys tell me the requirements for said cpu/gpu?
My budget is around ~$800-$1000
I posted my specs earlier this month but here you go

If those are your current specs, then the only thing that immediately jumps out at me that would be bottlenecking your performance is the CPU. PS2 is very CPU-intensive, and I dunno if an older dual core processor could meet its performance demands. Your graphics card looks fine, though. I'm running medium settings with 30-45 FPS, and I've only got a GeForce 275, which is about five years out of date. If you drop a few hundred for a beefy CPU, you could probably run this game quite nicely on higher settings.
Your card benchmarks just very very slightly under my HD7850, and my video card runs PS2 on high without any issues. I drop the rendering quality to .90, though, because the Biolabs can be a bit of a chug at times, but ultimately the framerate is always above 60 when the CPU isn't bottlenecking it
4Gb of RAM is enough to play with no stuttering with textures on high or lower. On the highest setting the game tends to get jumpy. (I also have 4Gb) I'd grab 8Gb when you can but it's not needed. I couldn't notice much of a difference with the textures between High and Ultra anyway due to the game being slightly blurry from all the motion blur/bloom/glow/movement. Maybe an SSD would allow you to use Ultra with 4Gb without stuttering, But an 8Gb of RAM upgrade is going to be money well spent now that the new consoles are out
Your CPU is what you're going to want to upgrade, definitely
Just know that while SoE's finally optimizing the game, my 3.2ghz Quad Core still bottlenecks in heavy fights and slows the game down. It isn't the CPU's fault, though, it's the game, and it's being improved
Here's a list of supported processors for your motherboard

Though Micro ATX boards are pretty cheap if you want to get a new one of those, too. $800-$1000 is a lot of money for what is essentially nothing more than just a CPU/RAM upgrade. If you don't splurge you could go for a video card that's overkill to go with it. Just make sure your PSU can support the increased power requirement, though your card already requires a 550W which I think is substantial. If you can already support that you're probably golden. A titan only requires a 600w
TR held the Crown against simultaneous attacks from VS and NC. I was Heavy Assault and I just held off a hill with a ragtag group of medics that were running around. I kept running low on HMG ammo and the situation just kept on getting dire and dire. There were just so many moments where I had to get out the Pistol to keep them from overwhelming me.
I managed to stay off a platoon of zerg-rushing NC's and finally a platoon-sized element was able to rally and drive them out of the sector. We pushed across the region and into the next but the whole time I had to pick my target because I was always low on ammo.

I have a 700w power supply so yeah, I think I'm good there.
Any cpu's that support my mobo supports you think would more than suffice running PS2?
Probably looking at a quad
Side note though,
If I did decide to just go with a custom built pc (probably sell my current)
With nothing changed would this run it no problem?

Past a point though it is the CPU's fault for older stuff. I know somebody who tried playing this on an OC'ed Kentsfield XE, and even post-patch they haven't seen an improvement, so the idea of "upgrading" to another 775 CPU is sorta laughable. It's safe to assume nothing on 775 is ever going to be sufficient for this game.

You could try the Q9650 if you could find one, but they aren't "cheap" now (you'd still be paying $20 less than a midrange Haswell for a new one) and I really doubt it'd keep up from what I've heard.

It's fine, if you don't mind overpaying. That's $1229 for a $1110 machine. If you were willing to do the build yourself or had a friend who could do it, you could put that extra $119 into another component.

On the upside the patch has drastically increased my FPS.
Log in, spawn at Red Ridge, see a Mosquito hovering around the far side of Scarred Mesa rocket podding some guys, fire a half-assed deci rocket despite it being 800m away, then turn to leave for Tawrich. 20 seconds later I look back. The mosquito hasn't moved an inch. Another 10 seconds later I get the kill. I log out knowing nothing I do now will live up to that.
Went out in my vanguard today on indar, there was huge push from regent rock all the way to tawrich techplant. 4 vanguards and countless TR prowlers, lightnings and now i'm about 300 certs richer.

Prowlers are like xp cookies.
5+ certs per prowler kill, wheeee

I've primarily played NC, but have been putting a lot more time into my TR character lately, and I never realized how monstrous those Vanguards are before having to fight against them. That shield is bugnutz.
the vanu guns sound so good now, but all of my unlocks are on NC
this is tragic

The Pistol and lasher especially sound really cool, and I seem to be better at using them, just goes to show how something feels DOES factor in to how well you do.

The trick is to max lockdown and slug them before they reach visible range(yes). With max lockdown that shit is like the only hitscan weapon in the game. I don't normally play TR but I decided to give it a go since I wasn't in for a hard time while I was slugging the bourbon. Shot down 3 vanguards, 1 liberator, and 30 LA's that saw me. I think I logged off before I died.

Well there's a bug, I think...maybe? I dunno, apparently its wonky and sometimes not seeing your enemy means you don't hit anything?

Yeah.. I was exaggerating.
This was one of the best moments I've had in this game.

Me, as a MAX and 2 of my friends, as an engineer and a medic, managed to get behind an outpost with 24+ players.
We're all around battle rank 30-40, my MAX only has kinetic armor rank 2, a heavy cycler and a mutilator.
There were so many moments where we could of died, such as a lightning that tried to get us for quite some time.
The driver was battle rank 3, guess what happened.
Yup, he left the lightning and tried to shoot us.
Both my friends died after a bit, and I died because of a suicidal light assault with C4 that was in front of me.
I tried to charge away but I just ended up charging at his body when I shot him. :v:
It was really fun, and using a hyper boost (100% EXP boost) and the anniversary boost, it was raining certs.
I need to use MAX a lot more.

As a TR player with focus on armor i can attest that vanguards are brutal and mag riders are annoying
Lockdown is still a fairly cool ability though, i think the prowler is the only tank capable of shooting fast enough to dish out supressing fire :v:

They'll usually get away if you lock down from that far away. As for AA and AI, lockdown AP is the way to go I totally agree.
I wonder how many engineers it would take to outheal the damage dealt by a 2/2 AV Vanguard from in front. At least until their tools overheat.
Made a new character and goddamn I forgot how much time it takes to get 1000 certs. I want the rockets for the Mosquito damn it!
