Planetside 2 V6 - VS capped Indar? It's more likely than you think

I've been using the TAR. It's pretty cool, but I feel like the most effective way to use it is to just close your eyes and spin in circles.

Now you're thinking like a Terran!

Use near friendly firing lines for maximum fun.
Jaguar carbine is a hipfire machine. I can kill at 10m or more with it sometimes.
I feel like TR guns handle alright.
Is there any light assault weapon like the heavy assault's default Gauss rifle? I fucking love that thing, but I kinda really like the jetpack of light assault. Is there a weapon that feels like the HA Gauss rifle?
There is one carbine which has low firerate/high damage like the SAW but I can't remember the name of it. ACX or something?
EDIT: Yeah the AC-X11.

Does it keep high damage over distance?
If so, i'm sold!
To be honest, the only thing stopping me from swapping back to NC at this point is that my TR guy is certed out so much more :v: Don't wanna lose a bunch of progress.

And the commissar cap, of course

Compared to the other carbines, yes. Still not as good as the SAW though. Only 480m/s muzzle velocity compared to 600m/s.

Thanks, now I can feel like a HA without being a HA.
So I've been playing this game since around December of 2012, but not that much, probably sporadically over the past year or so. I'm only BR 17 and I'm struggling to get certs but I don't know what else I can do besides tag along in a platoon and go hopping around the continents getting XP and playing engi/comb. medic.
Anything I should know to maximize my cert gain and what I should generally spend my certs on?

It's difficult to decide when you've barely unlocked anything, but if you're playing Engineer/Medic to get certs then I would dump certs into either Repair/Med tools, depending which one you use most. Better tools means more certs, and from there you should have a feel for what you need to buy next.

I play Medic primarily, and the first things I recommend bumping up is nanoweave or whatever it is you prefer, and getting rid of the starter gun. The medic tool can wait until you have at least level 4 in whatever is you have, because the medic gun doesn't make any sort of impact until the last two levels.
It's a lot better to kill the prominent threat in the room, revive them, heal them and have them back off with you, than to shoot some people, get winged by the fourth guy, try to revive the guy as backup, get killed by the enemy, and have the enemy get another free kill. The first becomes a lot more easier when you grab the GR-22/Cycler/Vanu Equivalent or the NS-11, because the starter guns are the absolute worst.

Medic is prolly the easiest cert grinder in the game. First thing you should do is level your medi-tool up to 5 (or max it, if you're feeling bold). Then stick with clusters of infantry, resurrecting and healing them when they go do. Your assault rifle will actually tear folks up, too, so you're pretty decent in combat. If you stick to medic for general infantry work, you should have no problem pulling in certs. Once you've gotten your dude kitted out pretty well, you can pick a specialty class or vehicle or whatever.

You don't really need to rush to get rid of the default gun. They're all good and balanced weapons for general combat purposes. Not specialized enough to excel in any one area, but generally good and reliable. I'd rate getting your basic kit sorted out as more important, personally. I'd also probably recommend shield regen over nano-weave. Getting your shield up faster will let you get back to rezzing/fighting quicker, and since you can heal yourself with nano-regen anyway, I don't find it that useful to be able to take one or two extra bullets.

I wouldn't say the starter gun is any reliable. The rate of fire is poor, the range and recoil isn't very good and the only decent thing is the damage, but not by much. In my opinion, it's nothing but dumpster filler in comparison to what you can buy for 250 certs.
That said, people die by the seconds, and revives are great for certs if you can do so in bulk and within seconds apart, but personal combat readiness should come first, not relying in your companion's once you get him up and back into the fight. Kind of like the Danger and Response part of DR-ABCs, since it surprisingly sums up Combat Medic gameplay.
As for shield recharge, is it really worth investing into for someone that does middle to close range combat? I kind of prefer Nanoweave so I don't get instagibbed by shotgun blasts, tripmines and snipers, which seem to be in an abundance on Mattherson.
Well I have nano-regen maxed, and I'm working toward getting the last level for the medical applicator cert, I guess that's a bit good then. Should I invest in any weapon, grenades, etc after getting those maxed?
I should also probably play more cautiously though, I find myself dying a lot. :v:

I let the Assault classes do the heavy lifting in combat. As the medic, I hang out just behind the front line, watch our flanks for enemy infiltrators and LA's, and pop out to spray suppressing fire at baddies ahead of us when I get a second or two. Otherwise, I'm mostly focusing on healing and reviving. Knocking four seconds off the shield recharge time is quite useful when you need to sprint from body to body, since that's four extra seconds that you don't have to squat in cover.
I really only play medic when my vanguard/prowler gets toasted or isn't in any way useful in the current fight(which all happens a lot).
Hardly ever have my primary weapon out honestly. Usually the time it takes to grab it and target someone is time I probably had to revive some comrades to let them do the job.
The medic weapons I find are pretty fuckin' sweet but it's a rare opportunity to use them. I find it's when everyone around me is dead and I'm about to get mugged so then it's time to drop a revive grenade and start blazing.

I just imagined dramatic music playing in the background as you stand atop of a pile of your allies corpses. In your hand you hold your last grenade, a revive grenade, you're bleeding from all over your body and you have a pained expression in your face. You slowly pop the grenade, drop it then pull out your guns. The music picks up as you dramatically in slow motion jump around the corner guns blazing firing at your enemies.
Epilogue:
Music dies down, you lie there in a pool of your own blood with several enemies dead around you but even more so alive. It looks dark. Music picks up as your ressurected allies come around the corner, they smile, your enemies express terror in their faces as they are vastly outnumbered. It's an execution ground and you are victorious.

Is there anything like that but for a TR engineer?

T5 AMC is the slowest we have at 652 RPM, same as NS-11C. I hate how it looks and sounds though.

It's pretty poor on light assault as it's a ADS weapon, but it's godly on engineers. I think it's the most accurate carbine in the game.

I dunno I prefer the Jaguar. Still sounds and looks like crap but it's accurate as hell. I've come to the realization though that I shouldn't be using a damn laser sight on it.
Argh! Not getting weapon locked as a TR MAX is hard as heck! This is, like, the third time. People just keep running in front of me while I'm firing. I dunno how you TR can put up with it. It's not even this bad as a ScatMAX, since all you've gotta worry about is a split second window to fire. As a TR MAX, though, you're gonna be laying down a near-constant stream of fire. Even if I'm only hitting a round or so at a time on friendly units, that adds up when it's happening over and over again.
[editline]24th November 2013[/editline]
God DAMNIT! I finally get unlocked, and the second I start to fire some buttface jumps in front of me and they get locked again. This system is ridiculous.
I have yet to get weapon locked. I need to see a video of why it happens to people, because I cannot fathom how it happens. Is it a bug?
why cant SOE patches just pick up where they leave off. I get a connection error at 97% after waiting around 5 hours and I'm jacked back to the start again
also, has there been anything new added aside from the optimization?
So on woodman, Pigs flew.
Vanu lost an alert.

It's supposed to be an anti-grief mechanic to punish teamkillers and stuff by locking your weapons if you cause too much damage to friendlies over a certain period of time, but some classes and weapons are super susceptible to it, but what it really does is punish people trying to play tactically, laying down good fields of fire on doorways and chokepoints, and encourages sprinting around, bunny hopping, and spray-and-praying. Those spastic players are the ones who are getting in the way and causing weapon locks and grief points for the people who are trying to go at it more effectively. If you want to see it shine, try covering a doorway with an engineer's AI turret. You'll be on your final warning within five minutes from the people who keep sprinting directly in front of your actively firing turret.
It's very annoying!

The VS sights do leave you with a very comfortable amount of perhiperal vision.
Also as a primarly lasher user I find the zerg running bunnyhoppers to be the worst layers every becausle although my gun is porbably one of the only guns that can activly surpress your average idiot my allies have a habit of riunning into the stream OF VERY LARGE SLOW MOVING BRIGHTLY COLOURED GLOWING PROJECTILES! Not seeing them is NOT an excuse here you FUCKING well saw those balls!
Also BDA come play Vanu on woodman, you can drive your flash around while I sit on the back and snipe tanks with my large anti-tank sniper cannon.
