Oh... okay, I try to play this game for the first time in ages, and once reset password finally fucking works I apparently have no characters.
Always thought jump seats on the side of the lightning would be cool. Maybe followed up by a cert path that boxes in those seats and raises the lightning turret so you could turn it in to a kind of Bradley type IFV, would be really cool for small squads, and kind of seems more like the thing that SOE would do considering they seem to think adding any new vehicles is a cardinal sin.
The Lightning would look really weird if it had space for passengers in the back. The entire tank is like two feet tall - it would be hilariously distorted if it was bumped to the ~5 foot height required space to fit passengers in the back. I would definitely like to have players ride on top of my tanks, though. Let them sit down on the sides of my Prowler and use their primary weapons like players riding on the back of a Flash or Harasser.
Bradley type IFV
Don't we have the sunderer for that? If you switch up it's weaponry and give it a speed boost it accomplishes much the same role, no?
Don't we have the sunderer for that?
I want a walker vehicle but I can't think of a good position it would be in. If it was highly mobile, had good firepower depending on loadout and weak against rockets and C4 then it would roll over MAX, if you make it heavier it rivals the lightning. There's also the question in what areas you want it to be effective in, out in the field and it will be tank meat, if in CQC it will rival MAX again.
There's nothing wrong with redundancies. Halberd/Enforcer/Saron Harassers already compete with AP Lightnings, the AI version is only marginally inferior to a Viper Lightning, and MAXes are already regularly beaten by HAs with a lot of resources into concussion grenades and C4. A heavy walker wouldn't actually be a bad idea for a dedicated driver/gunner vehicle. Give the guy stomping around a generic Kobalt-type weapon and a pair of tank-like cannons to the turret. Limiting the AI potential to a dinky gun in the front of the body keeps it from being the next infantry farming delight, and using the legs as the weak point lets AV tanks still compete with the higher DPS if their aim is good.
I want a Starcraft goliath. If it's 2 people then driver controls 2 kobalts and the gunner controls rockets. Otherwise let driver switch between both like ESF do. Make them slower than a lightning and maybe weak to AP stuff.

The aircraft look advanced but apart from the magrider, ground vehicle combat still feels pretty similar to contemporary tanks/buggies/etc in other games.
I can't wait for the rage if the anchor nerf goes through
What have they done to it?
Personally I think that a Walker would do wonders to make the game feel more all around futuristic. There's always the bare minimum of "stuff" necessary to make things look like they could fulfill a combat role in the world of pretend (big gun, something that indicates movement), but none of them actually look like vehicles. Besides the Flash, anyway.
What have they done to it?
Reduced the bullet velocity bonus down to 08%. No word if it's a bug or intentional but the forumside crying is already top notch.
Oh you mean Prowler Anchor. I thought you meant the NC LMG. Was gonna say that's like the last thing I can think of in need of a nerf.
Ah alright. Well nerfing NC guns would also cause another flood
Changing anything would cause a flood
Am I the only one that would love to have naval combat in the game? A new continent that could be a bunch of islands connected by a metric fucktonne of bridges and jumppads would be the shit. With things like jet skis, warships, hovercrafts and whatnot.
Yeah that would be cool. The flash should have a jet-ski brother.
Oh dear, i just unlocked the level 3 anchor for my prowler this weekend How bad is the nerf?
I heard they are planning to nerf the projectile speed increase down to about 8%.
Oh, okay. That's not so bad, the reload speed remains untouched then? That's a hundred times more important for me.
Changing anything would cause a flood
None more so than aircraft, Pilots on the forum are the definition of "Undue Entitlement" Oh and in the days following the launch of the Empire Specific rocket launchers. When they NC one could one shot infantry and the Vanu one could not hit a target outside of 200m and went form full damage to scratch damage from 450 onwards... Mien gott! when they nerfed the damage vs infantry but BUFFED the damage vs vehicles the NC players on the forums went MENTAL! And anyone who dared say that the Vanu one needed a buff got burried under a torrent of "It's perfectly fine! being able to reliably do damage from that kidna range is op" These self same people didn't think that being able to oneshot infantry from behind a rock, out of sight was unbalanced in any way. Oh and of course the forumside pilots got in on the action because the NC rocket launcher could insta-kill aircraft, despite the fact that the Launcher had a slow projectile, shot as a piss in the wind range and a pretty slow turning angle such that you would only ever get hit if the other aircraft was hovering dead still and barely moving (I.E trying to kill one infantryman with rocket pods) which was perfect conditions for the default launcher to Instantly kill them anywho, they still whined. I don't got to formumside anymore... my therapist strongly recommends that I don't... This would also open up opportunities for Naval warfare, and full on continent locks. The locked out team could then launch an offensive via going from their home base and staging an attack from overseas. Bear in mind this was a LONG term goal, as in up there with outfit bases and those fling BF2142 style titan thingies.
The day I get to crash a titan into enemy zergs... GLORIOUS
The day I get to crash a titan into enemy zergs... GLORIOUS
If they give us the option back to broadcast voice chat to enemy players I am going to point my Titan at the enemy zerg, fly head on and blast the USSR National Anthem out the speakers as loudly as I can.
It be interesting to see what their plans for the galaxy are. It would be cool to see that being used a little more often.
I thought proxi voice was already cross-faction?
Nope. Voice chat is empire only. /say and /yell are cross-faction, though. Enemy players can read your chat if they're close enough.
I miss when it was cross empire. That was hilarious.
I miss when it was cross empire. That was hilarious.
Sometimes I miss it too, but it's hilariously griefy for players who have voice chat enabled. Cloakers talking to cover up the sound of their cloaking or gunfire immediately comes to mind.
I'm getting a new computer at Christmas, anybody know how well this game'll run with 8GB of RAM, an i5 4670K quad, and an R9 280X? I've seen people getting great results with computers of similar specs, but I'd like to know a framerate estimate.

I can't find this Infiltrator! I'm listening for his cloaking device, but all I can hear is someone shouting 'THERE'S NO-ONE INVISIBLE BEHIND THIS WALL' from over there! What twisted developers would allow problems such as this?"

I get 40-50fps on my ~$600 computer - 8gb DDR3, an i5 2500k, with a GTX 460SE at 1680x1050, albeit with shadows disabled. Enabling shadows drops it to an average of 30fps.
