Planetside 2 V6 - VS capped Indar? It's more likely than you think

I wish teammates would stop walking infront of me while I am firing with in Lockdown.
Was Poundering a VS base earlier with the TR zerg and I teamkilled at least 10 teammates who run in front of me and proceed to stand there and attempt to snipe the VS, despite my warnings that if they get in front, expect to be shot through.
I hate like waiting for idiots to get out of the way.
Turns out that I simply cannot snipe with scopes. I spoke earlier about running around with the ghost(short range bolt action) and using ironsights. Well I bought the 3.4x thinking it was a good scope, I couldn't hit shit and I just couldn't figure out why I couldn't aim at all, and then I went back to ironsight and racked in kills.
What the fuck is wrong with me
Long range shooting in planetside 2 is generally shit. I use ironsights/rds /2xrds with the Tsar-42 and do wonderfully.
I had also spent HOURS on the firing range with one of the scopeless scout rifles practicing close range headshot-bodyshot followup kills. I had forgotten that out in the real world, people can zigzag and zip around like spastic monkeys even in close range so it turned out to be a waste of time.

I find that the general ability to zigzag and ignore inertia in gaming really ruins sniping. So many kills have I missed because the target randomly did a full 180 on the spot. The ironsight sniping only works in ranges where you don't really have to lead anyway so you can just hit them in the face.

As a lasher user I feel your pain.
Still despite it's reputation I've NEVER gotten weapons lock from using the lasher... EVER

Agreed, I believe I only got one warning despite me probably killing more TR than the NC at the time. I guess they might have changed the weapon lock for MAX's.

Dodging snipers is like walking across the sand and not attracting sand-worms. Just be sure to move without any repeatable pattern or rhythm whatsoever. I achieve this by randomly swinging my mouse left and right to create some VERY erratic movement while still moving ROUGHLY in the right direction.
I so very often hear the sound of the "near miss shot" ring over my head and the distinctive red or yellow tracer zip past... I can almost hear the other guy swearing at me as his futile efforts at trying to hit something that knows exactly where he is and what he is trying to do gives him the virtual finger.
And no, in case you ask I have no love for snipers, because being instantly killed out of the blue against something you had pretty much no chance of seeing is just plain frustrating, and no I don't care how much "skill" it took, it's still frustrating even if you took the time to line up the "perfect" shot. I'll never respect the snipers in FPS (or TPS) games because it's just plain not fun to instantly die ESPECIALLY when your cause of death was something you never saw... and wasn't putting themselves in the fire fight.
So many times have I engaged someone in man to man combat only to die and see the little skin tight wetsuit weeping bastard with his ultra long range maximum velocity Penis compensator dealing the killing %1 of damage and I just feel SORRY for the other jet pack trooper who was able to fly up and over my grenade at the right time, erraticly zig zag so as to dodge a full clip of LMG fire and accurately land most of his on my shield covered thick skull only to have his prize stolen at the last second by someone pissing in a jar on a nearby hilltop.
I also have the same hatred of heavies who spam fire rockets into doorways... Same issue, different small penis replacement device.

The funny thing is most people don't know how to use the skyguard properly.

I just blame myself if I die to snipers, either I fucked up and deserved it or I fucked up and deserved it. Rocket nerds are a bit harder to predict but if you see them it's easy to just strafe away and then shoot them as they reload.

Ehh rocketing doorways is perfectly valid since it is actually useful for clearing a path for the team to push through. How else are you going to clear those MAXes off the doorway other than nade spam?
I don't know about you guys, but i think the Lasher is a massively overhyped weapon.
Either i'm using it wrong, but i have a lot more success with the Orion than the Lasher-- are you supposed to use the Lasher in tight spaces? (bio labs, doorways, etc..)

You're not going to win with the lasher in a direct firefight assuming fairness on both parties, the projectiles are too slow and have too much spread.
You need higher gound and a bit of range, the best place to use it is in a defensive position indoors. Like that one room in biolabs that's also upstairs and next to the control point... heck any room in a biolab will do.
The lasher has an impressive clip size, you're supposed to fire at the doorway so anything that tries to get though will be mostly dead by the time it does. You basically issue a DARE to anyone who wants to come through and if they try, just line your sights up in the poor sap who triedand enjoy some easy XP.
You can also plink at people behind cover which is funny as they frantically scrabble to hide somewhere else, only to put themselves in a BETTER position to be lashed.
There is ONE redeeming feature of the lasher in Direct combat, It deals both explosive AND bullet damage, this means that it deals almost 200 damage per shot to a Max so with a good shield, getting the drop and some headshots you may actually stand a chance going against an enemy MAX head on.
Although usually in those cases your luck is better tried going "Death or Glory!" with a brick of C4.
Direct hits on infantry with the Lasher feels so glorious.
Direct hits on infantry with the Lasher feels so glorious.
I think a headshot with the lasher will put him on such low HP that a good SNEEZE will kill them.

How do you feel about the ironsight bolt action snipers sneaking behind you instead? :v:
How do you feel about the ironsight bolt action snipers sneaking behind you instead? :v:
It's about as bad as SMG Inf's, except if he misses the first shot I have a good chance to kill him.
One time the lasher is good in a direct fight is chasing down cloaked infs... you can hide all you like I'll just follow the little red X's.
Also time was the lasher was pinpoint accurate and had very little CoF bloom, but that was when it had a lower RoF and I think it had lower damage, still it mean't that with a laser sight you could HIPFIRE the damn thing and outsnipe most Inf's... I was able to relably headshot Snipers at long range far better than they could headshot me.
It also mean't that I never had to aim down the sights and could run circles around most enemies while maintianing damage on them...
The new lasher does much better than the old one at locking down a doorway however... so it's not ALL bad.
Does anyone here play NC or VS on Briggs?
During alerts, I have noticed that when the VS actually participate, 80% of the time they mostly ignore the NC and go straight for the TR. Ditto with the NC going straight for us and leaving the VS alone.
Just wondering, do you ever have truces with each other or you just really really hate the TR?

Alright I have 1000 certs to blow off. Should I get the Reaper DMR, the NS-15M, or something else? (NC foot zergling)

As much as I hate that its so much harder to actually headshot a moving target in PS2 compared to battlefield with snipers thanks to netcode, the jerky movement physics, the terrible not-that-accurate sights, etc I do think its probably for the best. Because it can get really annoying how much you can die in BF3 or whatever by a single good sniper with how easy it is in that game. With the distances and how many players there are in PS2, that would suck a lot if it was just as "tight feeling" for the kind of game PS2 is for the players on the recieving end of a sniper.

I think my favorite place to fight in this game is going from Crossroads -> Broken Arch -> Tawrich
Its just such a fun as fuck area to fight and a footzerg tends to always happen with how the terrain is laid out there. The archways provide an awesome alternate zone in which to fight from too and it tends to bring out air, foot, max and tanks all in one battle.
Was playing casually last night at a fight that took place there, lots of armor resistance so brought out my max (wow lmao ZoE is so useless now), and just survived for 10-15 minutes slowly pushing up to broken arch from crossroads with an AT max and an army around me.

When I play I find VS calls the shots in alerts. I play both TR and NC on Briggs and neither of us ever engage VS willingly tbh. They're just no fun to fight. It leaves both factions at a disadvantage.
I don't understand the whole "the VS are just no fun to fight" thing at all
I don't understand the whole "the VS are just no fun to fight" thing at all
Personally I've found it to be their army composition. You can argue whether ZOE is OP still or not (it's pulled a lot less than before at least) but they still grab maxes wayy more often than the other factions so in general as a poor infantry you're going to get shit on more often than if you just duked it with TR/NC. PS: Anecdotal evidence, don't burn me.
[editline]2nd January 2014[/editline]
Their tanks are annoying as shit as well. Cunts just boost off into fuck off land where as if you fight it out vs a prowler/vanguard at least you know it's to the death. Mag riders are easy as tits to scare off but it can be difficult to get a kill on them. Fighting them just isn't enjoyable.

It used to be a similar issue with Waterson except replace VS with TR.
Its mainly the massive zergs. Slamming your head against any sort of brick wall is just not fun, even if you're still standing you're bleeding, hurting and about to fall over.

Our basic footsoldier tends to die more easily than most people... again anecdotal evidence. Our snipers are Meh and our LMG's are middle range at best. Or either that we found out that MAX'es = awesome and decided "We may as well go all in."

Yeah, I have to agree with this on the Magriders, just as someone who is usually a heavy, engineer or in a vangaurd. I hate going up against Magriders, because of how they are, their strength makes them a bitch and a half to fight but because you're a vangaurd, backing up isn't really an option but getting closer means you get Sauron'd.

Yeah this is also the big issue with Briggs, although it's not as bad lately since the split.
A huge ton of VS are in a single outfit so when you fight VS your small squad fights one guy for the first 3 mins and then 100 guys for the last. Yeah it's probably another reason why I avoid the VS on Briggs but it's not really an issue with the faction, more of a flaw with gameplay in general.

Our tanks tend to loose in a direct fight but that's how they're configured unfortunately. They are frail and out gun is neither a one punch monster like the Vanny nor a DPS machine like the prowler. We basically have to use hit and run in order to do anything effective, constantly move in and out, strafing from behind cover. Our high mobility means we can sneak round the back and shoot enemies up the arse with ease but if we charge head on WE WILL DIE.

Waterson's gotten better again. NC and VS have started winning alerts and its become a true 3 way fight. The reason we had a surge of TR was because Total Biscuit started playing TR again on the server and so we got a bunch of Biscuite retards flooding in to cover the really good TR players as meatshields.
Is double exp still on?
