• Planetside 2 V6 - VS capped Indar? It's more likely than you think

I'm guessing its going to be a true driver/gunner tank.
It looks like a siege tank. I'm suddenly interested.
While interesting I worry what it's going to do to the current tanks. Some people might argue that tanks don't feel very tanky, and if this turns out to be a larger gunner driver tank it could be reasonably more tanky than current tanks, which might upset some tankers. Tank.
My guess is its going to be basically a wall. The slowest tank, (probably) cant get into smaller bases, and can dish out plenty of pain. Regardless, I am going to definately give it a go when it comes out.
Well if its NS, shouldn't it be pretty middle ground?
Well if its NS, shouldn't it be pretty middle ground?
But isn't the Lightning the middle-ground tank? I wouldn't mind a super heavy NS tank.
But isn't the Lightning the middle-ground tank? I wouldn't mind a super heavy NS tank.
that is not what i meant the lightning doesn't have any particularly striking characteristics beyond being a light tank. Nor would this have any particularly striking characteristics beyond being a heavy tank and hypothetically requiring a dedicated gunner.
I can only see this thing being a massive pain in the ass the way things are. If it's slower than the other tanks, than traffic jams will be even worse, and if it's bigger, it will take up much more space and will be an even bigger shitshow on open or uneven terrain. They really, REALLY need to fix the shitty log-flume that is terrain right now for vehicles like tanks and the flash. So frustrating to not be able to climb the inclines vehicles like that are built to climb. And don't even get me started on infantry sliding, sticking and random stops on hills.
On the one hand, I would like a proper tank. On the other hand, I'm sad that I'll be put out all that effort for my current MBT. But above all, I want it to outclass a Vangaurd, for some sweet sweet vengeance.

Failing to get up a gentle incline in a tracked vehicle makes me furious.
On the one hand, I would like a proper tank. It'd be interesting to see at what places it might get stuck. You got plenty of infantry bridges which go over roads, under which that thing certainly won't fit. Will they raise those to please the collosus users or will the drivers have to plan ahead and perhaps start moving around the base long before it's capped? [editline]13th January 2014[/editline] Balance wise, the biggest issue I can think of is that anyone can just grab it. It might be driver-gunner but I you still can get unlimited amounts of them as there isn't any kind of vehicle cap.
There's all sorts of ways they could limit them. Make them require squads to get, like make squads earn squad points to spend on it. Make them take legions of damage, but are unable to be healed. Require them to be pulled out of warpgates only. Only lower populated factions get it. They have a lifetime timer, before they rapidly die off. They are targeted on the map for everybody. Make new anti-Colossus weapons that do bonus damage against it. Give everybody a window of time to buy it, like a mini-alert. You can get creative and still let plenty of people have it. Hi guys, just began playing this, loving it. What are som need to get things ? Is member worth it or should I buy them SC-points? (Playing TR)

Although the unable to be healed, anti Colossus weaponry and the Minimap/normal map marker for those within vicinity I think would be viable ways to counter and balance them, providing how they play in the first place anyway.
Depends. If you just want to unlock a weapon quick you buy SC but if you want faster certs then membership.
I think this tank might be a sort of replacement for the ps1 mechs
see this thing? All it's doing now is sit in a weird spot at tech plants, with no use whatsoever, just as some decorative thing which would have been a fucking awesome replacement for the phalnax turrets.
I like that sketchy style brush, anybody know what settings/brush that is?
Watch as the Colossus drives a few 100m before being slaughtered by enemy aircraft that are in its blind spot.
As with all great big fuckoff things in any game it works like this. A big tank with a big gun can only shoot at one thing at any given time but can be fired upon from a myrad of other tanks rather easily, who will no doubt target the damn thing because A: IT'S BIG. and B: It probably rewards a LOT of certs upon death. Now if said big tank didn't have a big gun but lots of more normal tank sized guns, each manned by a crewmember, now we have something different. Yes it can still be shot at by lots of other tanks and infantrymen but it can also fire back at it's own cost in points so to speak. If the tanks costs.... lets say about 2000 Mechanized points as a ballpark number, to make and your average tank costs 450, this tank would need to kill four MBT's and a lightning before dying to be On Par with the equivelant cost in resources for it to be truly viable. We must also consider that with a skilled crew it really needs to pack as much hurt as the aforementioned four MBT's and a lightning. Herein lies the issue, if the tank costs too little then it makes other tanks worthless, if it costs too much then it's not viable at all. Balancing something like this is HUGELY complicated and I think it's going to be OP or UP upon it's initial launch because we really need data from the current population of planet-side players actually playing with it in order to balance it properly.
It looks like it has 5 turret hardpoints so that's a lot of basilisk fire
It looks like it has 5 turret hardpoints so that's a lot of basilisk fire
imagine if you could fit like support skills into them? It will remove a seat and the driver will have an ability he can switch to and activate. Some of the things could be: a small bubble shield which could block (some types of) incoming fire. large area smoke grenades? gravity pulse thing or whatever which repels away RPG's and big missiles into random directions. [editline]13th January 2014[/editline] They could make that thing become REALLY awesome if they add special stuff to it like that. It might not be a good combatant on it's own but it would be able to support and/or reinforce units nearby.
It looks like it has 5 turret hardpoints so that's a lot of basilisk fire
Replace the Basilisks with pre-nerf Vulcans. Everything dies.
So it's going to be the UT04 Leviathan then. awesome
Just a thought, what if this is in fact an alert vehicle? Like perhaps one team gets it, and has to drive it to a location on the other side of the map, while the other teams try to destroy it. Would make for more unique alerts than just CAPTURE *insert building/continent here*.

Or namely you never would get the chance.
Yeah but that means only one arsehole would ever get to drive it. Or namely you never would get the chance.
Yeah they would have to fix that. Perhaps some sort of voting system? That way the primary platoon could vote for the main driver, and his/her squad could be the gunners.

That idea could be used for when Higby adds those Titans he is hopeful for.
I'm getting really sick of lockons.
I'm getting really sick of lockons.
They need to change the flare mechanics to make up for the amount of lockons atm. They need to makes the flares use amm0, with no cooldown rather than having the current painfully long cooldown mechanic.
