I've had this happen with the infiltrator cloak. I will just spawn and run out of the shields and press the ability button and what I get instead is this retarded beeping noise like 'HUEHUE no clock 4 u'. Same thing happens when I'm trying to rapidly recloak after decloaking. And I stay decloaked and get fucking killed because I thought the game would do what I told it to.
They have some sort of block so you can't stealth too quickly after spawning. I've had the lag where your ability won't activate, so you hit it again and then it deactivates(even though it was never on). Gotten me killed with the overshield, and piss annoying with stealth. Indonesians have really annoying voices but they are damn good pilots.
okay dogfighting got less fun between now and when I stopped playing people are doing 180 turns on the spot and shit what and coyote missiles are ultimate no fun allowed
okay dogfighting got less fun between now and when I stopped playing people are doing 180 turns on the spot and shit what and coyote missiles are ultimate no fun allowed
Coyote missiles are not that effective against people who know what they are doing. They don't put out enough damage quickly enough to take down an experienced pilot even if you catch them off guard.
okay dogfighting got less fun between now and when I stopped playing people are doing 180 turns on the spot and shit what and coyote missiles are ultimate no fun allowed
People garner more power from vertical thrust these days than the actual engines of the aircraft. A Good pilot c an roll his aircraft over, look down to face away from his foe and use his thrusters to move backwards, he will then re-right himself use a quick burst to fly up over you, firing on top of your aircraft and use gravity to get under you. A good pilot can fly vertical circles around another aircraft making it very hard to fight back, quite often your only REAL choice is to just use your afterburners and go and cry by the warpgate.

Also coyotes are practically indifferent from rocket pods on the receiving end.

I've done some crazy shit in other games without a joystick, but PS2 seems to make that impossible. Everytime I get stuck in a turn fight it's a losing battle, especially with Mossies, even with the vertical thrust of the reaver. Scythes are overrated imo, I don't have nearly as much trouble with them.

You could ram a galaxy full of people and it will kill them all, you would get a road kill bonus for each guy in the galaxy. It's henceforth been fixed and now the scythe is a pretty middling fighter, we still have the best rocket pods.
It's henceforth been fixed and now the scythe is a pretty middling fighter, we still have the best rocket pods.
Yeah that's for sure. Amount of times I've watched scythe make pass after pass with the pods while Mattherson NC stroke their shotguns instead of getting some fucking AA out...

He crashed into the ground head on and me and my gunner got a nice bit of bonus XP.

Eh, flying in this game is an enormous time-sink and it is really god damn rough on new pilots. Probably one of the most unique experiences in PS2 once you do learn though. Also, this happened yesterday. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/JAn9K84.jpg[/thumb] patch plz
Planetside in general is ludicrously rough to new players, but to me it feels really rewarding in the end. Flying is very unique, I've never encountered a game where skill plays such a role in the air. Dogfighting is a piss in the face to new players, but raises the skillcap through the roof.
Coyote Missiles and/or the new engagment radar help a bunch with new players dogfighting though. Just remember to bring a buddy. You'll still get wrecked one on one by people who have mastered the reverse thrust maneuver (aka turning on the spot), but when you actually get into a dogfight that stuff makes things much easier.
Flying is hard to adjust to because of how much speed you have. It's not normal (to me) to say "I can't kill that tank here, perhaps the two base area around here has more tanks I can reach." Plenty of chances to fight with other air, but then you run into that problem with the super skilled players knocking you out for another 20 minutes.

Just got accused of using tomcat lockons for using the coyotes. Do people even look on their kill screen?
I wonder if they will ever add Empire Specific cannons for the Lightnings. If so, they had better give the TR lighting dual miniguns that are good at AA and AI. Sort of like dual larger Walkers.

More faction specific stuff would be nice. I want some kind continuous beam laser for go on my vanu lightning. I like lasers.... and Explosions. Also laser explosions.
Also laser explosions.
I agree, nothing beats the sight of the reactor core going critical on a magrider or scythe.

How about an ATGM while were at it: [t]http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2012/209/f/c/planetside_2_pre_viz__m100_lightning_by_ukitakumuki-d58wdvk.jpg[/t]

Does anyone here really like the Basilisk? It seems people are eager to replace it as soon as possible but I always go on big killstreaks when I get in one. None of the people I play with like it.

What is that vanguard gun at 0:56?
What is that vanguard gun at 0:56?
Some kind of railgun. It's not usable in-game yet, but it's been in the files since forever.
If there is anything that pisses me off about the community for this game it's the "I think my gun X/Vehicle X was secretly ninja-nerfed last patch" or whatever similar bullshit is said. No, it's called having a bad day. Every FPS gamer has bad days when their aiming is shit and they just cannot get into the groove. When I cannot hit the broad side of a barn I go "Holy shit I fucking suck today" and go and play some Space Engineers for a while. I don't blame my gun - my gun is fine and has been for a while. The problem is the user. Then again this game seems to have a problem with having a huge "nerf-culture". The calls for nerfs are far more common than calls for equal balance and viable equipment for all. The community never wants balance or is willing to compromise - they want everything except what they use nerfed. It's really fucking annoying.
It's part SOE's fault, and part players. First of all there are so many that only stick to one role. And when they don't try out other things they only see what kill them, and call that OP. Many just cry OP over the thing they see on their killscreen the most. Completely disregarding even trying out that gun for themselves. Second is SOE. Anything that is shed to light is overnerfed to oblivion, therefor everyone is super afraid their toy will be nerfed so everyone tries to point fingers instead of having an open discussion. This causes a ton of fear, hate and general silly sides that forumside divides into. Mostly infantry, maxes, tanks, air. And they all yell on eachother instead of having a proper discussion(that and it's f2p, shit community is a given).
